(In the experimental facility)
Even without the main test subject, the head scientist, Jim, knew that he should not be fixated on just one predicament. There were still plenty of emerging discoveries in their experiment, even without the main test subject. Hence, he should start looking at the data that the other test subjects have produced.
By looking at the chart, the numbers of the test subjects that gained stats after just being injected seemed to be promising. Although they weren't permanent, the serum that they had created was capable of adding stats to E-rank awakens who had a small chance of reaching the next rank.
It was their target, and this experiment was to create the serum when injected on an awaken, stats would drastically increase. However, their goal wasn't for temporary effects but for permanent effects, which is why test subject Hunt was an important factor in this experiment. However, as he was not yet found, Jim should focus on the different categories of their experiment.
'Now, let's see what happened with the skill acquirer serums.'
There were two ways of getting skill: the first one was by practicing, and the second one was by pressure. It was what they discovered in their research, but experiments should stop with just one discovery. Therefore, they aimed to create a serum that could make them acquire skills immediately.
"The first to succeed was the Observation Skill Serum?" he asked one fellow scientist who was also observing the chart with him.
"Yes, sir. And the test subject that got the skill first was the beggar. He seemed to be more immune to foreign substances."
Jim smiled. "Of course, that is how beggars survive while scavenging for food. That is why beggars are the best test subjects to test these serums."
He then continued. "Did he already know how to determine levels?"
"Still not yet, sir. But the assistants were planning on teaching him the fundamentals of the [System]. So, probably within a week of his skill, he will start to learn what levels are and the [System]." The fellow scientist said.
Hearing the reports and reading the contents in the chart, Jim couldn't help but release a smile. He had been looking for good results, and even though he had lost a good test subject temporarily, he was elated to hear good news.
He stood from his seat and then went out of the room. He intended to check the other test subjects as well, and what he wanted to see was the top objective of their experiments, the Level Acquirer Serum.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
In this world, [System] was the fundamental program in every awaken that could make people see their progress. Although everyone has access to the [System], not everyone knows if they have the talent to become stronger, as talents are invisible and can't be detected by any gadget or even by the system. It takes days until a person realizes that they have the talent to be stronger, or they can even awaken.
However, one fundamental thing is that the [System] is only available for awakens. Hence, if a human is not an awaken, having access to the [System] to gauge their progress in becoming strong is impossible for them.
This thing has already existed, but Victor didn't know anything about it as he was just mesmerized by fighting monsters when he was still a kid. Furthermore, in his second life in Kluma, he thought that he was special since he had the [System].
'Now... let's see how well the experiment goes further.' Jim thought as he arrived at the biggest chamber where all the test subjects for Level Acquirer Serum were.

(The mercenary searching team)
"Well now, would you be obedient to us, kid? We still have a job to finish. Bringing you back to our employers is our utmost priority." Claren said.
Victor was just calm about the situation and had been looking at them with unbothered eyes, provoking them. His attitude towards the situation made it impossible that he was just naive and newly awakened awaken.
"How can you be sure that after bringing me back, you won't be killed?" Victor asked, making the rest of the mercenary searching team silent. "As I expected, you don't know well your employers."
The vice leader stepped forward. "Your tongue is sharp. I will slice it if you speak again without being careful of your word choice."
Victor scoffed and then tilted his head stupidly. "Okay, understood." Then shrugged.
While Karen was irritated with Victor, the other two ladies were charmed. They saw Victor as an adorable kid. His personality was awful, and they thought it was cute.
"Don't worry about us. This is just a temporary contract, and their business is not ours to glimpse at." Claren said.
Michael, who had been silent, stepped forward. "Where is the man that saved you from the Rotting Bear? I want to see him."
Victor's eyes fell on him; he observed him and saw the sword on his waist. And as he thought of what he had just said, he got an idea of how they thought it.
'They didn't assume that I was the one who killed that monster. Probably, what they thought was my powers were just magic, and it was electricity. But in reality, it wasn't even magic; in fact, it was Qi. Fools... They must be confused about who sliced that monster cleanly.'
Victor shook his head. "I know that you can't harm me, so I won't speak. But, I just have something to tell you..."
They lend him their ears. Victor couldn't do anything after all. Even if they were vigilant, it would be useless since he was trapped in a binding spell.
'Now... should I start the killing? I wanted to know if killing humans here is just the same as killing a human in Kluma. Killing a human in Kluma also has experience points, so I want to see if they have something to offer.’
"What is it?" Karen irritatedly asked.
"No one saved me. And in reality, you stupid maggots just underestimated the Great Feral Demon, who killed 20,000 soldiers with ease in a war."
For a moment, everyone became silent. And seeing their stupid looks, Victor closed his eyes as his teeth clenched from the rage he was feeling toward their reaction.
"As expected, you are just a kid," Hubert said in front of him while he carried his battle ax on his shoulder.
