As soon as Lina saw the goblins coming at her, she started screaming frantically. She ran away from them, but these grotesque, cunning small monsters were smart enough to deduce that Lina was weaker than them. Even just one goblin would be enough to kill her.
Her weakness was reeking: carelessness, which was why these monsters knew that she could be easily taken down if they surrounded her. And as she wasn't expecting, there were five goblins that were chasing her. Some went to the side and took a long detour to catch up with her.
While running in the darkness of the forest, with a small bath of light from the moon, she clasped her hands, intertwined, as she prayed to all of the gods she could think of.
'Please... just this once, let me live. I need to make some medicine for my father. I need to survive this...'
She was desperately running for her life, while Victor remained watching her from above, sitting comfortably with her feet swinging off the branck. He didn't show a slight interest in saving her.
Earlier, it was just a coincidence that she was saved since those monsters seemed to be twice his level, and he wanted to hunt using his previous life's stats. But even if it wasn't her, he wouldn't bother thinking about saving anyone.

As Victor was expecting, they were just weak monsters. He could handle them one by one, and with his current stats, he could take them down with some effort.
As an experienced murderer, always hit the vital points as it just needed a slight strength to weaken them. Hence, using flashy techniques for killing would be unnecessary. And monsters like them had a humanoid appearance, their vital points were just like humans.
Victor wanted to see more of what Lina would do to escape another challenge of death, but it seemed like her naivety and foolishness were showing that she couldn't even bother thinking of the best way to escape. She was still screaming.
Victor sighed. She should not scream after all. Screaming in a dangerous place like this, where possible monsters were lurking, wasn't a wise thing to do.
"Help me! Please help me! Whoever you are with that weird lab gown boy who was just the same age as me, please save!"
'Now she is calling me?' Victor's eyebrow raised.
"Please help me! I will do everything! No! I will not bother you again, so at least please save me just this once."
It could probably work on his instinct, Victor frustratedly sighed before jumping down.
'What am I even thinking.' He thought, gritting his teeth in disbelief.
"Letting you die is just normal for me, but since it has come to this, I will hunt these monsters for you. Don't ever think that I am doing this for you." Victor pressed as he raised his hands and caught one goblin's neck.
"You came?!"
Victor shook his head and didn't pay any heed to Lina. He went to focus on the current goblin that was in his grasp, which was also resisting his force. And as Victor saw that the other four goblins had been wary of him, they planned on attacking him all at once.
A grin appeared on Victor's face, and he pushed the forehead of the goblin, snapping its neck and immediately killing it with ease.

'Killing one goblin is not a problem anymore since I have the strength to snap its neck immediately. However, the problem is taking four all at once.'
Victor breathed calmly and peered behind him where Lina was standing. She was cowering in fear, as he expected. And seeing that the goblins had focused on him, he didn't have to worry about Lina's safety.
Every goblin's starting weapons were crude daggers. And as each of them had crude daggers, the one he killed had one which he picked it up and threw it at a goblin. He hit the forehead and killed it in an instant.
Now, there were only three goblins, but the difficulty still didn't change, which meant that Victor had to minimize their movements. But, thinking much about it wasn't his style, so he just used his whole body as his weapon.
He raised his legs and kicked the neck of the incoming goblin, and behind him were the two that saw this as their opportunity. It should be the loophole in Victor's defense, but he had expected they would attack him in this situation. As the goblins went on stabbing him with their daggers, Victor jumped high, backflipped, and now he was behind them.
He instantly grabbed their neck and pounded their heads on the ground. And without wasting a second, he dragged their faces and smashed them again. He continued smashing them as being choked weakened the control of their limbs, and slowly, they lost consciousness.
Victor then felt weak after that. He surrendered to the weakness of his knees, and his buttocks landed on the ground. He sighed in relief and checked to see if the two goblins were already dead.
He nodded.
"They're dead." He mumbled with a smile.
Meanwhile, Lina approached him with worried eyes. She was still shocked, but she minimized the effects of it. She was able to recollect herself after Victor killed them.
'How is he so weak now? He was strong earlier.' She thought but was afraid to ask Victor since she noticed that he had some anger issues or something like that.
"T-Thank you for saving."
"As I said, I did not save you."
"You just did."
Victor grunted. "Whatever." Then, he handed out his hand, as if waiting for something for Lina to give him.
'Is he perhaps waiting for the payment? I indeed said something about giving everything I could, but I didn't expect him to be like this. He seems prideful to me.' She thought while taking out coins from her bag.
"What are you doing? Give me the description and sketch of the herb you are looking for. Since I believed they were hard to find, the danger of looking for them would help me."
'What is he talking about?' She looked at him in a weird way.
"Just give me that." Victor pulled the piece of paper that was in Lina's bag. "I will look for the herbs since they were hard to find. I will see monsters often. I will give these herbs to you tomorrow."
Lina was speechless and surprised at Victor's sudden change of attitude. But, she wasn't capable of doubting him since he looked sincere to her.
"Alright. Thank you."
Victor groaned silently. 'Just what the hell am I really doing?'
