Chapter 19: Danger

I had no idea what the system was warning me about, but something in my gut feeling told me that things were about to go south. There was no time to overthink it. Without hesitation, I dashed toward the dumpster room. My heart was racing, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that something big was about to happen.

Once I got inside the dumpster room, I quickly grabbed onto the first thing I could find that looked sturdy and connected to the building—a wall-mounted ladder sticking out from the wall. I didn’t know what was coming, but I wasn’t about to wait around to find out.

The system issued a warning: “Risk of being sent hurtling into the vacuum of space.” That could only mean one thing—the aliens were likely planning to dump their garbage out into space. Well, that’s just my prediction, but I might be wrong, so we’ll see.

A minute later, without warning, the ground beneath me began to shift, and then it opened up on its own with a deep, mechanical groan. I stumbled back, wide-eyed, as the floor vanished, revealing the terrifying void below. As I looked down through the opening, the sight was dizzying—the endless expanse of dark space stretched out before me, an unforgiving emptiness that made my stomach churn.

Holy shit! I never imagined in my whole life I would get the chance to look outside an alien spaceship and witness the vastness of space. I’ve always watched YouTube videos about the universe, but to think I’m seeing it firsthand—what a mind-blowing experience!

Then, out of nowhere, a massive blue portal materialized right in the center of this vast colossal garbage hall, swirling ominously about 50 feet below. Its sheer size was overwhelming, and its glow cast eerie reflections across the walls. The portal behaved like a vacuum cleaner or black hole, creating a gravitational pull so strong that every piece of garbage was instantly sucked toward it. Loose scraps of metal, human remains, food, discarded equipment, and unidentifiable debris were swept away midair, spiraling into the portal with terrifying speed. The entire enormous garbage hall echoed with the noise of shifting junk, and I felt the air pressure change as the force of the portal intensified, swallowing everything in its path.

“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhh!!!” The sound of my own voice echoed through the vast dumpster room as I felt the portal's power yanking at me like a relentless vacuum cleaner. The pull was intense, threatening to drag me into the swirling chaos below. Panic surged through me as I struggled to maintain my grip on the wall-mounted ladder, my heart racing with every beat.

The cool metal handle felt reassuring beneath my fingers, giving me a sense of security amidst the chaos. As long as I held on, I would be safe and wouldn’t be hurled into the dark abyss of space. The noise of shifting junk and the roar of the portal filled my ears, overwhelming my senses.

I braced myself, gripping the ladder tightly as the gravitational force intensified, confident that my hold would keep me firmly in place.

WHOOSH!

As I stared down, I noticed that anything entering the portal seemed to emerge from the other side. My first thought was: Why are these aliens dumping garbage into space? With their advanced technology, they should have the capability to recycle and repurpose waste rather than tossing it into the void of the universe.

I couldn't help but wonder what kind of beings would choose to pollute the cosmos instead of taking responsibility for their waste. As I contemplated the situation, a chilling thought crept into my mind: these aliens aboard this massive spaceship were likely malevolent, indifferent to the consequences of their actions. They had the power to maintain their environment, yet here they were, carelessly littering the stars as if they didn’t give a damn about the impact on space. It was as if they viewed the universe as their personal trash can, devoid of any respect for the vastness surrounding them.

I felt a mix of frustration and disbelief wash over me. Why wouldn’t they take responsibility for their garbage? It was maddening to think that such advanced beings could be so negligent. Instead of maintaining the beauty of space, they treated it like a cosmic dumpster.

Suddenly, a chilling realization washed over me. I just remembered that I was facing an alien race so malevolent that they derived amusement from torturing and experimenting on humans. It all made sense now; given their atrocious treatment of humans, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by their casual disregard for dumping waste into space without a second thought.

Once all the garbage had been cleared out of this enormous garbage hall, the portal finally disappeared, its swirling lights fading away. The floor started to come back together, shifting like a giant puzzle until it closed completely with a soft thud. I felt a huge sense of relief wash over me. Finally, I could let go of all that tension and stand on solid ground again, feeling the stability beneath my feet.

Phew! Not gonna lie, that was kinda scary.

The heavy atmosphere of the colossal garbage hall lifted, replaced by a welcome calm. I took a deep breath, grateful that everything had gone smoothly and that I was safe and sound.

As I scanned my surroundings, I was struck by the sight of the vast garbage hall and the dumpster room I was in, now completely transformed. Not a single piece of trash remained, and the awful stench was completely gone. It’s wild to think that just moments ago, I was surrounded by a mountain pile of garbage, but now everything was cleared away, and the air felt refreshingly clean.

Damn! What a massive change—it almost feels like a dream. Well, I’m glad at least I can finally breathe in clean air now, way better than the filthy smell from just moments ago.

RUMBLE!

I heard the giant door creaking open on the north side of the colossal garbage hall. My heart raced. Oh no! The aliens are coming again! Shit! I need to hide—now!

Frantically scanning my surroundings, I quickly realized that all the garbage that once surrounded me was gone, leaving me exposed and vulnerable. Fuck! My mind raced as I searched for a place to conceal myself. I glanced around, desperate for any shred of cover, but all that remained were the cold, hard metal walls.

Then my gaze shot up to the ceiling, where I spotted a few air vents high above, just out of reach. Maybe I could climb up and escape detection. I imagined grabbing onto the metal edges and pulling myself up, but I had no idea if it would actually work. A surge of adrenaline coursed through me; there was no time to hesitate or overthink. I had to act—now!
