CHAPTER 34 -STAR-
The voice of a woman sounded as the power started to move to my accordance.
[Your memories have been restricted for the moment. In twenty minutes your memory will be restored while locking this one]
M-My memories have been restricted? What is going on?
[Your confusion is not to be expected, after all this world is…]
Before the womanly voice finished, various spells came from all sides, surrounding me like a dome. I waved my wings, covered in power, to deflect them. Seeing as some spells bounced back and even nullified, the angel unsheathed their blades that were strapped to their sides.
Simultaneously, all the angels–aside from the angel old man–attacked, launching forwards with all their might. My current objective was to confirm if this was my world or not but these angels are making it difficult.
“Annoying.” I muttered, irritated, seeing how slow and inexperienced these angel warriors were. Dodging each and one of their attacks while not allowing my wings to get hurt. I studied each angel, predicting their next attack.
[Fifthteen minutes are left]
They’re wasting my time. Clenching my fist as I didn’t have a weapon on me, the options were to either use my fist or a weapon. Thankfully, the angels didn’t come at me all together but in singles.
As a queue, an angel singly came to me with a wide strike. I took advantage of his unbalanced body and grabbed his wrist, pulled him down to my eye level before kneeing him to the jaw. Causing him to fall unconscious, I grabbed his weapon and used it to defend myself.
One after another, blocking and striking, non-stopping action that I found quite annoying as they didn’t have the skills or the power to stop me at all.
[Ten minutes are left]
Those words brought me to reason, as I had forgotten my objective while I was fooling around with the angels.
“Enough of games,” I said in a cold voice before continuing, “You’re wasting my time.” I slashed horizontally with the sword I ‘borrowed’ from the angel, imbued with it, creating a strong gust of wind that sent thirty angels across the room.
That should be enough, I thought to myself. Motioning my wings in a flying one, now we destroy the roof.
I swinged with the sword in hand, injecting more power, trying to send it towards the roof. Upon doing so, a huge explosion covered where I was flying. I waited on the smoke to clear itself before hearing a loud yell of a familiar name, entering my ears would only bring chills to fall on me.
“Alter!”
[You have six minutes left]
Both voices that tried to enter my ears repeatedly couldn’t because of the sight I was seeing, unfamiliar, foreign, remote, alien. Everything that I saw, everything that was here didn’t make sense. The forest, the plane fields, the sky, even the sun didn’t feel normal. If this wasn’t my world then why am I here?
[Three minutes left]
My head felt like it was being readjusted, every fiber in my mind didn’t feel like my own. It felt like it was turning into someone else’s, even the body, my body didn’t feel like mine.
I felt like a spirit possessing the body while the original owner was sleeping, unconscious in the process.
[You must be confused as to why you are here, but don’t worry everything will make sense when the time comes]
Horror entered my mind as I began to think that I would disappear from this place, from reality and life at the same time. That I would die, without me knowing the reason why.
Why was I allowed to live this amount of time? If only I was able to meet the person that gave me this amount of time to ask for more if it was possible.
[It is possible for you to meet him, in a possible future where you will have your own free will]
So that would mean…
[You won’t disappear from this reality or world]
Is that so… pushing my head back, I laid eyes on the alien blue sky. Feeling the breeze as it passed slowly, inhaling the oxygen that the trees provided. That is when I had made up my mind, knowing that probably there were other options yet this one was the only I thought of the most.
“What is it that I have to do?” I spoke, skeptical, knowing that this deal was too good to be one sided.
[Help me. Help me subdue the darkness that this power brings, maintaining it under control while he uses it]
I nodded in response to the woman’s request, in doing so, the last message that I would get from her in this body appeared. And with it, two more angels approached. However, one of them was different, his long golden hair swept to the right as the breeze went by. Instead of one halo, this angel had three while the other had two.
Could this be an understanding or a signal of how the power in this world works? But yet, I have only seen one angel with two halos while there is another with it and even one with three. Even if I didn’t understand their hierarchy, I’d still have known that the one with three halos is strong, probably stronger than the current me.

I couldn’t help but laugh. They were truly strong but they are not stronger than him.
[Thirty seconds are left]
As her voice left my mind, the three halo angel teleported in front of me and grabbed my neck before throwing me to where the girl with horns was. My body ached as I started to get up, the power that I gained still wasn’t enough for me to take these angels on.
“Who are you?”
Cleaning the blood from my mouth with my hand, I looked at where the source had come from. It was the angel with three halos, I could tell that he was angered with what had happened here. His black colored eyes spectated the room that he, frowning at every little detail there was. His sight then landed on me, asking me the same question he did before.
“Who are you?” The anger had taken over his voice, tightly gripping his weapon from its sheath. Opening my mouth to speak, twelve hooded people appeared in front of me, with their back turned to me except for one.
From its appearance I could tell she was a woman, her aura could be compared with the two halo angel old man from earlier.
The woman genuflected before me, asking me a familiar question. “If it’s okay with your majesty, may this lowly apostle know, who are you?”
I closed my eyes before answering her question. Beginning to think about her words thoroughly, ‘your majesty’? ‘lowly apostle’? Just what is going on in this world… Everything was too much to take in, the situation I was in and the one I was about to get in. If I didn’t give this ‘apostle’ the answer she wanted, she might even consider eliminating me here and now.
Woman announcer, if you are able to talk to the owner of this body, please tell him that I am sorry for the choice I’m about to make.
[...]
I awaited an answer from the woman announcer but it turned out to be futile. No matter how many seconds I waited, nothing came through with her voice.
I guess he’s mad that I am doing something important for him…
But I will make sure that I’d take responsibility for these choices, whether he or I are in control of this body. With that in mind, I slowly breathe air through my nose before letting it out through my mouth.
Slowly opening my eyes with the determination I had to build with guilt, the scenery was the same. Everyone did not move not a single inch, the apostle still had her face down with her right hand over her heart.
‘You can do this…We will always believe in you…’
I recalled the words that my parents gave me while I was young, when I had the power to stop the war but was too scared of doing so. I have made up my mind, the road that I will begin to walk will be the same as the one before, everything will be against me no matter who or what it is. Odds are against me, the path is filled with despair and emotions that are not needed. Even so, I decided to walk the same path as I did before.
Clenching my fist, raising my head and posture, I injected the same tone I had while being general. “I am the one who veils with Death, the path I travel is the same path that leaves wake, bringing death to anything and anyone, no matter how mighty or insignificant. The Angel Of Death, Sammael.”
The whole room up in silence when I finished speaking, every face that was present, turned to me. Their eyes widened and filled with disbelief and fear, even the three powerful angels stared at me unable to move by such a statement.
Unlike them, the twelve apostles seemed to be flared with joy. The apostle woman in front of me looked up in a flash with wide eyes before they turned to relief, like they have been waiting for years for this to happen.
Minutes passed, and the room was still silent, nobody knowing what to do. Yet in mere seconds, a heavy light sound filled the silent room. The angels began to mutter, from one angel to another. All saying the very same thing, ‘He’s a star.’
A star…huh? I thought to myself, even though I didn’t know the system of this world, being called a star seemed way too much for someone like me. Their murmurs and faces had all the same common thing, they all saw me as a deity, something above normal means, a being capable of becoming a god. Powerful enough to cause chaos around the world.
…Is this how my people saw me back then? Not as a human being but as a reliable thing, called a god just for cover up? That's not what I wanted…I wanted to end the war once and for all, but the cruel reality showed me that I wasn’t strong enough to make people submit to peace but instead cause a world war.
‘But this is not your old world is it?’
‘You can start from zero here, be called a human here and live like a human here.’
Those words are not mine…
‘Sammael, accept this grief and guilt, live for those who you killed in that world. Accept your reality, be true to yourself.’
But if I do, I will disappear. I don’t want to disappear, I want to see the end of this world, with people I care about!
‘If you want that, you must accept me. Leaving everything that came from that world, conveying and embracing the new you. The one who was born here is the same person that you were in that world.’
[Will you accept this offer?]
I felt my old and new memories collide, but they didn’t fight to destroy one another, no, they all played with each other. No differences were between these memories, they all looked at each other like they were the same. I let out a sigh, how could I have forgotten this…was it because of my own selfishness…or was it because of my fate. Whatever the answer is, I will find it on the path that I will follow until the end.
“Yes…I accept the offer.”
‘You are me…’
“...And I am you.”
[Two out of three have been united. The current you now understands both mana and the halo]
My eyes opened. every single living thing that was in that room faced me, however, they didn't see me as a ray of hope. No, they all saw me as a calamity, an anomaly that just ascended to their own home. Some angels dropped their weapons as I released my aura, running for their lives, the three halo angels yelled. "Don't run you cowards!"
The mana around me got closer to me instead of going away, if it did, I probably will understand. After all I was a calamity, a being that fate has been cursed by the gods themselves. Yet I couldn't find a way to hate mana, mana had brought me to where now I stand. I activated the storage bracelet that Pearl had gotten me, taking out a coat that I haven't used in years. Who would've thought, using an old nickname that I got in my old world would be useful.
I put on the dark gray coat, when I did, the dark red symbols that were on my shoulders and forearm seemed to light up. This was the coat that I'd use during my six years of hunting for clues to bring back the dead, to bring Isabella back, before the great war started.
I turned to the three halo angel, "Star of Angels, I wish for an Audience with your god."
