Chapter 28 -Angelic Council-

CHAPTER 28 -Angelic Council-

As Chuzeoth and the red-eyed monster fought, mana waves from the clashing spread into the rest of the battlefield, affecting me and the soldiers present.

The strong waves pushed against us, the clashing swords didn’t seem to come to an end anytime soon.

“Pearl, why are you here, help Alter.” Said a heavy voice coming from my left, the amber colored hair waving backwards from the mana waves. I felt relieved when I saw him coming my way, he can help me with this chain magic. I thought in my mind, his black colored-eyes scanned me from top to bottom before realizing what was going on.

“So that’s the reason why you can’t move,” He added on, injecting his mana into me so that I could release the spell upon me. I needed to concentrate on the spell itself before even thinking of using mana to manipulate it.

Closing my eyes and ignoring what was happening in the background, I was able to achieve full concentration with a few deep breaths. Some would even say that I was crazy for being able to concentrate in a situation like this.

The feeling of entering the spell function was not a comfortable feeling, instead I felt out of place for even entering the spell itself. The darkness around me felt like it was enveloping me as a coat would. Don't forget the reason why I’m here, I have to undo this chain spell before things get out of hand out there.

[Mana detection]

I muttered, with this I should be able to locate the spell system. The image of the system appeared in my mind and so did the coordinates of where it was, “there you are.” My words echoed through the darkness, being able to hear my own voice made me feel creeped out.

This is the last time that I am doing this, ever.

“Uhh, Pearl, you might want to hurry up. The red-eyed guy is beating Chuzeoth and it is not nice to watch.” Stated Eugene in a concerned tone.

Damn it…

Desperately I began to hurry to the place where the spell system was, ultimately I ended up finding a strong sense of magic flowing from the bright light source. Without much thought, I extended my arm into the abnormality structure.

At my touch, the structure-like turned around its gear, making rusty sounds–very loud sounds that made me go deaf–concerning me about what was going to happen.

From there I don’t remember what happened…

I could recollect anymore of what happened, almost like it was an empty piece of memory–like it didn’t happen at all–not existing.

I raised my head to the three people that were in the room. Elder Chuzeoth, kept me in check–it's been almost three days since then–along with the nurses that had very strange appearances… “Angels!?”

My loud voice startled both Chuzeoth and Eugene who were next to me. I quickly got embarrassed at myself for saying such a thing in front of one–an angel–who was nursing me.

The beautiful blonde, blue eyed, angel gave me a small smile. Assuring me that it was okay for my loud voice, especially in what appeared to be a hospital for… angels?

Eugene apologized on my behalf for the commotion I started without wanting to, beside him was Chuzeoth too–amazing me since I thought that his pride was too big for a basic apology–.

But until now, where is Alter?

I dragged my eyes all across the room, leaving no space unseen. Where is he? Could it be that he is hiding something from me? I shook my head, no that can’t be the case. I mean after all both of us are partners in crime, right?

ALTER VIOLET

Outside of the room where Pearl was being nursed and healed, I was there watching as she was searching for me. Then means that she's already okay to be left behind to those two meatheads. I said to myself, closing the half-opened door before walking where three angels that were posted as guards reside.

They are stronger than Chuzeoth and me, that's for sure. But that is not the reason why I’m here, I need to confirm what is going to happen to us now that we were saved by these angels.

…During the ambush that was setup by that dragon and its battalions, I was forced to use my ability. Abeyance, stopping time for long enough for me to fight that powerful dragon. Despite all that, I was still not strong enough to beat him or yet, kill him.

Being powerless for the first time in a long time, left a bitter taste in my mouth. I had to suck it up before it became my own doom. At this point my pride didn’t mean nothing to me if it meant that those with me would die.

As the red-eyed dragon grabbed me by the throat, Onyx spoke in my mind. Revealing something that I thought was impossible at first but never confirmed it.

‘Alter, whatever you have in mind now, use it before it’s too late.’ Even though he spoke to me from my mind, I could easily tell how concerned he was about the situation.

I denied his words, leaving only more than worry in him. I did not have any plans for this situation, at best I thought that Dimgaze would reveal himself but instead some unknown dragon did in his stead. Complicating everything up ‘till now.

‘Then use my power, I give you permission to use it–’

I cut him off before he finished.

I can’t do that, knowing that this is the last time you could regain your original powers. Being used by me means that you might not ever get them back, and I cannot allow such a thing. Instead, if I do die, take over this body and return to your family, They are desperate to see you…

A moment of silence was in between before I continued.

…Sure, it might be surprising to them to know that you were alive all these years. Making me seem like the villain.

With the last piece of strength I had, I summoned a smile. It was small enough to be misunderstood as a grin, causing the red-eyed dragon to get even more pissed than he was.

“You still smile in such a situation, you truly are despicable.” He stated, in an irritated tone before tightening his grip around my neck.

[Interference is required]

Hearing these words be pronounced by a woman made my eyes widened in horror. The meaning of ‘it’ interfering meant the destruction of the people close to me. No, such things should not be permitted.

“N-No, you cannot inter–,” noticing that my voice didn’t come out anymore. I continued in my mind, ‘You cannot interfere, I don’t permit you to do so. You are not allowed to disobey me in any way!’

[Disobeying orders is the least of my priorities]

D-Don’t you dare…

[Activating project —]

Onyx! Fight against ‘it’, this thing is dangerous for every dimension! I scream in my mind, begging him to hear my plea and to act fast. To act fast before ‘it’ unleashes ‘him’.

The world as we know it, the dimensions, will no longer be the same as it was before. The power…the monster that ‘it’ is trying to release will collapse the power and hierarchy system.

‘What does that mean?’ Onyx replied while activating his full aura and transformation.

…It means that the power ‘it’ is trying to unleash in this dimension will combine all dimensions together. Breaking both nature and logic that exist in these dimensions together…

[That won’t be necessary]

W-what are you talking about? What do you mean it's not necessary…what won’t be necessary? I asked, hesitant to hear the answer of ‘it’ but no other option was close.

[Unleashing ‘him’ won’t be necessary. Instead, I will be activating project —]

T-that is impossible, I no longer have the right to use that power anymore. I tried when I came into this world, it’s useless for you to even try and activate it. That power is not part of this world.

[You are wrong, even if this power was not from this world. It will still be part of you… It chose you]

Not being able to process what ‘it’ had said, my eyes forcefully closed because of the loss of air not entering my lungs. I fell unconscious, the sight of nothing but darkness. I scoff softly, “I’ve died again.” Turning my head and body to all directions, hoping that I would find something but I slowly realized. The hope inside of me began to slowly die as I didn’t find anything around me or even farther from me.

However, what appeared to be a bright yellow circle shape could be seen in the distance. Curiosity getting the best of me, I decided to check out what it was–after all if this was the afterlife then I didn't have any reason to hurry up–, feeling a little relief but at the same time guilty.

I shook my head violently. Letting these thoughts cloud my mind will only bring harm to me, hell, it probably will even break me if I continue to let it roam free. Moving left and right through the darkness void I felt powerful enough to face the gods I was once supposed to face and kill.

Wait…I was supposed to face gods?

What are ‘gods’ in the first place? And why am I supposed to fight them to the death?

Just thinking about this old plan exhausted my mind heavily, yet, it all quickly was dismissed at the incredible sight of the object I was seeing from the distance.

It was brighter than I expected it to be, my eye needed to adjust to its brightness. Closing and opening my eyes for several seconds was then able to see what I’d seen a while ago.

What is this mystical object doing here? It feels lonely here…

Turning my head left to right, thinking that there might still be someone in her along with it but my answer was crystal clear as water. Still, why was it here, alone? Was there a reason why it was here for… and if it was why. I felt despair, looking at this object made me feel that way towards it, almost like it was a person, a human being that has been trapped here along with the wrong ideas of someone.

Before I knew it, my own hands began moving on their own. Grabbing the illuminated circle object and placing it on top of my head.
