Chapter 13 -The Dinner Before The Disaster-
“Julie, how about you take care of all of them as part of your training?” Said the curly-haired kid walking in front of me sheathing his sword, “what will you do?” Asked the girl with blue eyes gazing at the kid half-turned.
“I would have to treat the girl but I don’t have any healing spells… you know what, let’s change spots. I will take care of these guys and you heal the girl.” He said, turning around unsheathing his dark purple blade. The armed girl walked towards me and kneeled on one knee, “don’t worry, we are here to help you.”
I knew she wasn’t lying when she said that. Her voice sounded honest and faithful, giving my once filled anguished heart a warm gentle hope. The black-haired girl's spear vanished from her hand making my eyes open even more than they had, “y-your spear is g-gone.”
I said in an alarmed voice, looking around me trying to find the spear. “Don’t be surprised, I just stored my weapon since I’m going to heal you,” She then put her hands close to my face and a greenish light emitted from her hands. I felt warmth entering my face then it flowed to my body making me feel safe once again.
The bruises and scars I once had were gone, I felt like I had never been in pain. However, the sound of metal going against each other brought me back into the situation that was going on. Facing the source of the sound, I found it hard to believe that a kid who is younger than me could evenly… no… outmatch a high-rank basilisk so easily without much effort.
His small movements, yet sharp and his precise swings made me indulge into his battle. Making it seem like had been experiencing these battles before, “here you should eat this while he finishes with them.” The girl had handed me food along with a drink, the food seemed something different to what I have seen in my life. It was wrapped in some sort of paper, but when it was unwrapped, it had bread on top and below, some sort of leaf, something red and round, and what appeared to be meat with a yellow color on top of it.
I made a confused face upon seeing something like this, the girl had noticed my face. “This is a burger. It’s delicious when you eat freshly made, it has two buns, one lettuce, one tomato and a patty with cheese.” She said, taking out another so-called ‘burger’ and began to eat it. I could tell by the face that she was making after taking a bite that she wasn’t lying. Giving me courage I decided to take a bite and prove it myself.
IT’S SOOOO GOOD… I could stop myself from eating the whole thing fast, taking the second to last time I was choking and seeking something to drink when the blue-eyed girl gave me the drink from earlier. Without much hesitation, I started to drink it. Tea, I said in my mind. “You really haven’t eaten at all have you?” I shaked my head in response and started to eat the other burger she gave me.
“Oh my, I forgot to introduce myself.” Said the girl,”I’m Juliette Riley, and the kid from earlier is my master, Alter Violet.” Once again choking on the food, I drank the whole bottle of tea. Freak out of what Juliette had said, “M-Master, you mean you’re a slave?” I said, scared of her answer. Juliette laughed when she heard me say that, tears came from her eyes, her hands were holding her stomach.
“Y-You really are funny. But thank you for the laugh, it really helped me, but no, I’m not a slave. I’m his disciple.” Juliette said, clearing her tears, “and you are…?” I jumped out of embarrassment since I hadn't introduced myself when she did. “M-my name is Luna Lyric.”
“Luna Lyric… that’s a cute name.”
I turned around upon hearing those words, it was Alter, Juliette’s master. Walking up to where we were, he sheathed his purple sword on his back. “Already done?” said Juliette, still eating her burger. Alter began to stretch his arms before answering, “Well, yeah. They were not much of a match, much less a warm up.” Not much of a match, much less a warm up? Who is this kid to say something like that about high-level basilisk, something even an A-rank adventurer can defeat alone.
The curly-haired kid sat down in front of me and Juliette, and brought out a burger from thin air. Alter noticed my reaction to this, “Do you know what a dimension device is?” I shook my head as a response, “A dimension device is a device that allows you to store things that you might want later on. Weapons, food, armor and more.” He said as he finished his burger, “Now, let me ask you this Luna Lyric.” Alter stood up and put his hand in front of me, “Will you become my disciple and fight this war alongside me?”
Half-way extending my arm into his but hesitated at the thought that I might not be useful like Juliette, no, these people are seeking my help, I have to help them in any way possible. I told myself as I fully extended my arm grabbing him as he pulled me to my feet.
“All we have to do now is end this war once in for all,” said the brown-eyed kid as we three looked at the kingdom of Londorwin in the distance.
Remembering the first time I met Alter, brought me back into the present, aware of the situation. I inhaled air through my nose into my lungs for two seconds before exhaling from my mouth, “Astral Bending” I muttered, bending the world around me like however I wanted. The mana around me was visible, I could see mana again but this time without the mana ring. I focused my vision on the trail of mana coming from the general when he ‘teleported’, raising my hand which I covered with mana, I swung down into the direction where the dragon was going. A huge crystalized wall appeared in front of him making him change course, Julie then appeared in front of him and attacked him with a move I have not seen but it seemed to be working.
The old man looked like he was cornered like a rat, even Alter said, when a rat is cornered it becomes even more dangerous. “Julie, don’t let your guard down.” I said, once again using telepathy. Chuzeoth picked up his sword and let out an intense aura making my Astral world break. “That’s enough, Miss Luna, Miss Juliette. You two have done better than expected for your first day.” Julie and I let go of our weapons and fell on our backs, “Tha-That was intense.” I said as sweat came down my face, “You two have achieved something astonishing that some dragons have not, and that is to pass the trail of mana. Especially you Miss Luna, you already have used mana to your making. Miss Juliette you too have understood how mana works but you can’t use it, but don’t let that hit you down, you have potential to overcome it and I guarantee it.” The dragon’s voice gave me assurance that he was not lying.

“Now you both should get ready.” Chuzeoth said, grabbing the weapons we took out from the storage and putting them on a wooden stand for weapons. The maid that had brought Julie came in along with another, “The dinner has been scheduled for tonight and looking at the time it seems like we have roughly two-to-three hours. This is Tei, she is going to be your personal maid.” Chuzeoth said to Julie. Tei bowed to us, making it feel like we were royalty. I pushed those thoughts to the back of my mind, I shouldn’t think that way at least, I thought.
“And this is Marol, your personal maid.” Said the general to me as Marol bowed to both of us. “Tei, Marol, take the ladies to their rooms and change them into proper attire for the dinner.”
ALTER VIOLET
It had been about two hours since I had been getting treatment, what’s more both Lady Millguard and Pearl stayed to take care of me. Hannah and Eugene left to keep Lord Millguard updated on what I have been feeling, but Eugene and Pearl still don’t know the real reason why I was here. I had told them that I had used my ring phase for too long, leaving them with a stable answer for the meantime.
I felt a little better since then, but I still couldn’t get it out of my mind. The reason why Abeyance could take my life force instead of mana, something wasn’t right. After using Abeyance for a long long time, I knew it wasn’t right when Hannah said that it took life force. Back then I would use it to undergo my training with Isabella, I’ve never felt tired but energetic instead. It seems like I need to train again but this time without the ring at least, making it worth the while we have before our roles have been decided.
Well I would have to think about this error later, for now I need to get back to training. Raising my body to sit on the bed, alarming Pearl and Sytairirth. “Are you okay to be sitting and not getting more sleep to recover?” said Sytairirth who was sitting on the left of me on a chair, Pearl who sat on the right of the bed had brought snacks that we used to eat as little kids. “Are you hungry brother, here I have brought our favorite snacks.”
Pearl handed me the plate with the snacks but seeing how my hands reacted to holding something light like this, she grabbed the plate and fed me the snacks, surprising both me and mother. “Thank you Pearl.” I said as I ate the cookies that were shaped like dragons, “And yes I’m okay in fact I feel better.” I answered Sytairith's question earlier. I then asked myself who would train with me, realizing my concern that Lady Sytairith would gain the attention of the room just by clearing her throat.
“Dear, I could tell that you are still anxious about the battle up ahead. Nonetheless, you have a power that most life forms would kill for but that doesn’t mean that you are strong enough to start and finish a war by yourself. Sure you are strong enough to take on an army of human or low-rank basilisks. You still have a long way before you even get to use divine mana. That is why I will assign Pearl, Eugene, Someissoa, and Freomal to train with you until your role in this war has been assigned.” Sytairith said making it sound like a speech to gain people’s faith in a battle that would end after so long, after losing so much hope. “I understand Pearl and Eugene, but Someissoa and Freomal too. Isn’t it too much for me?” I asked, worried that we could have our forces weakened because I had two generals personally train me. I looked at Pearl, knowing that she too had a saying in this conversation.
“Broth– Alter, I know that you have Onyx’s memories and I know that you are worried about me and Eugene. Just keep in mind that Eugene and I will always help you and be there for you.” Pearl stated, looking at me in the eyes and not wavering. Letting me know that she meant what she said, a sigh was let out from my mouth before talking. “Then it would be an honor to be personally trained by the prince and princess of Ezar,” making my tone sound like a commoner who’s once in a lifetime could be trained by royalty.
The dragon mother then got up and called a maid into the lab, “This is Cia, your maid that has been with you since you were born. Cia, take Alter to his room and get him changed into a fancy attire, tonight we have a dinner meeting.” I, who was sitting down in bed, half-drained from emotionally and mentally. “Then that means that I could-”
“Yes dear, that means you are free to leave the lab now.”

Upon entering my room again, Onyx’s room. I first decided to take a shower before doing anything. When I finished, the maid, Cia, was already waiting for me with a type of black tuxedo. It looked similar to what the other world had. Could it be that people of the other world have been summoned or reincarnated to this world before? I asked myself in my mind wanting to satisfy this curiosity that had awakened in me, but I pushed it aside. Before I could touch the tuxedo, Cia had told me that my hair was long and not taken care of so she would do the best she could for it, she then cut it and brushed it. Cia only cut the tips of it no more than two fingers more along with my curly bangs, tying the back of my hair nicely, hell better than I do.
“There, you may now put on the tuxedo,” Cia said as she added final touches to my hair. When I finished putting on the tuxedo, a memory ran through my mind. It appeared that this tuxedo was Onyx’s and to be honest it fit me the same way it did to Onyx, perfect. Cia then approached me with a black tailcoat, “Here young master, just in case it becomes cold in the meeting dinner but it is mostly just for show.”
“Is that so,” I said, grabbing the tailcoat from her and putting it on. “But isn’t this a little too much?” Since this was only a meeting dinner, I thought that having a tuxedo with a tailcoat was too much, a simple dressing of clothes and shoes would suffice. The white curly haired maid gave me a concerned gaze, “Young Master, you might find this insulting or boring to your ear but you have now succeeded and been bestowed young master Onyx’s role and power. Even if it was by accident or by pure chance, you now bear the responsibility of such a burden that none of us understand but you. Now you must be on par with young master Onyx’s power and role, if not, beyond it if possible, demonstrating that his power and role was not an error of being in possession of it. Nothing must be too much when it comes to you, greed should always be in your range.”
A huge, loud silence filled the room. I opened my mouth but nothing came out. I was startled by her words, it had shocked me that Cia, someone as caring as her could say this. Doubt had raised in my mind, thinking about what Onyx would have said if he were in my spot. After not getting an answer, I moved those thoughts and studied Cia. She had been facing the floor even when she talked, but I felt a sharp pain deep inside me when I saw a tear roll down her cheek, her hands were gripping her maid dress from the side.
Then sobbing filled the silent room, Cia tried to stop the tears from flowing out her eyes with her sleeves. “I-I curse life and fate for what it had done to you and Onyx. Just boys in this life trying to live in peace but fate didn’t allow it and instead brought both of you the opposite. A cruel, cold, burden of life for both of you.” Cia said crying, no longer being able to contain her emotions. Without saying a word, I slowly walked to her and embraced her with a warm, kindly, loving hug.
The red-eyed maid cried harder when she felt my arms wrapped around her. She then had fallen to her knees which I followed too, not letting go I comfort her by stroking her head and let her cry all she wanted. “Let it all out Cia, take your time. You’ve held on for too long now let it go.”
