CHAPTER 29 -ANGELIC COUNCIL- (2)
ALTER VIOLET
Dammit… How could I not remember what happened?
I frowned, confusion and anger were the only emotions I was feeling, displaying it towards the image of myself. Nevertheless, Onyx felt targeted and even began to speak when he wasn’t called for.
‘You should probably cool those emotions, you might even throw them at the wrong person.’ He stated, giving what felt like a worried face even though I couldn’t see him. ‘Though, you shouldn't worry too much. After all we got saved like ‘it’ said we would.’ Onyx added on, sending me his part of the memories trying to comfort me.
But that is the problem, ‘it’ never said about us getting saved. Something is going on behind our backs and we need to find out what it is before things get off the rails. I responded back, surprisingly Onyx agreed with me.
Can he look through my memories? I quietly said to myself, closing my thoughts so that he wouldn't know what I was saying.
Still doubting whether Onyx can or cannot read my thoughts I decided to walk into the council of angels. Their intentions for saving us were not clear leaving a bitter taste in my mouth. Many things come into mind as to why but we are still missing one person.
Finding our last member of the party was important, I alone was enough.
The three white and golden armored guards gave me a serious look as I got closer to the door, behind that door was the council that was run by angels–High ranking angels–.
The knowledge provided by Onyx gave me an advantage as to what they were doing inside there. Explaining the reason for the disappearance of our last member.
Since the war between the demons and the other races, angels have been cautiously observing each and every single race of their actions, deciding for themselves whether they are allies or enemies.
But to me they seem like they are just imitators trying to play god, involving innocent people into their scheme.
“Let me pass, my companion is in there,” The cold tone of my voice startled all three of the guards.
Hesitant to answer me, one of the guards had the courage to do so. “Y-You can not pass, these are orders from the Angelic Council.”
“Angelic Council…Is that what they named it, what a bunch of buffoons. Thinking that their all and mighty ‘Angelic Council’ can save all dimensions from war.”
Their eyes shared the same thing, the emotion of fear. Even though they were in fear, their bodies acted like something I have never seen before. Honing their spears into my direction, letting me know that they couldn’t allow me to enter.
I let out a small smile. They mustered the courage to stand up against me who could incinerate them without reciting a spell.
However… that is not the case right now, if it wasn’t for our last member’s life being on the line I would’ve converse with them.
“Ancient Walker, Emerge”
I muttered under my breath. My body changed, being able to see and feel all emotions that came from the guards. Yet somehow it was different, my range of seeing and feeling emotions changed, the range had gotten larger than it was before. I was now able to feel and see beyond the door that the guards were guarding.
That is when her emotions hit me, the clarity of them made it feel like they were mine. Sadness, fear, hopelessness. There is probably even more, but I can’t identify such purity of emotions in words.
Don’t worry as the daughter of my trusted comrade, I will save you. I said in my mind as I prepared a spell to move the guards and the door all together at once.
Using more than ten percent seems suicide—since I’m still not able to fully grasp the power that I have—, utilizing the most out of the spell along with many others at bay.
The two doors opened forcefully and so did the guards right after it, smoke rising from the damaged door with the floor.
“What is happening!? Guards! Guards protect the Angelic Council!” The words muttered by a powerful man, gripping his sword’s hilt with intention of killing.
I wasn’t going to let him or anyone from this pathetic group called ‘Angelic Council’ decide the fate of a child’s friend. If someone had to decide, it would be her.
Walking slowly through the unhinged doors, I called for the mystical black blade in my mind. In a matter of seconds, the blade appeared in my dominant hand, waiting to be swinged to kill those who opposed it or its master.
I already knew that this was going to become hectic as soon as I knocked down the door that led to the council of angels, but for me to use my ring phase and to wield a weapon against them is something else. I strengthened my mind, telling myself that there was no going back after this. Whatever there was to come, had to come.
“Klyde, what are you doing!? This intruder is armed, do something about it!” Screamed one of the so-called Angelic Council members, horrified by the sight of something or someone who could actually pass true their ‘heavily guarded’ door.
Ignoring whatever these recreants said, I looked around until I found what I was looking for.

Being strapped into the ground, sitting on her knees. Seeing this made me remember what it was like in ‘that’ place too, whether in this place or the other, it was all the same. I felt flames fuel up inside me, seeing how they are treating an innocent person.
A person I was supposed to protect before she was even born into this world was on the floor with blood coming out of the top of her head, lips, and arms. I focused on her physical and mental state with my ability to sense emotions.
The mana inside her body kept depleting, if this keeps going on her life force will be next.
What is causing this to happen?
I walked towards Susan and untied her from the ropes she was embedded on. Her emotions washed on me like they were my own.
“Susan, don’t worry I got you now. I will ask for a healer to heal you, just stay with me okay?” I assured her using only the little I knew about healing magic.
‘Your healing magic doesn't seem to work on her.’
Onyx now is not the time to start your hypothesis, someone’s life is on the line here. Instead of talking so nonchalantly, send some of your knowledge of healing magic. Anymore of this and she might not make it. My emotions were getting the best of me, clouding my mind of despair and fear.
I beg in my mind for help. I prayed to whatever there was out there that had the power to save her to do so. A brief moment of silence only followed up. How can there be nothing in this world, this universe that could help me save her.
“That demon girl cannot be saved.”
My hands jolted to those words. My eyes widened in horror, confusion combined with my fear. I turned my head to the owner of the voice. His face and voice didn’t match but it was him, my gut told me so.
His footsteps were the only thing I could hear, muffling everything else around me. I hesitated to ask why, no, my voice didn’t want to go out.
“W-what are you saying…”
“The angelic council has placed an artifact that could deplete someone's mana, and what that happens, her life force is next.” The middle-aged man was in front of me, unsheathing his white and golden sword. Pointing it to her as if she was the root of all evil in this world.
I hugged Susan’s body tightly, close enough to hear her own breaths fasten as seconds passed on.
The red haired-man continued but this time he got in an offensive position, “Only an angel of high power can remove that.” Stating this, he unleashed a large amount of divine mana.
Susan’s emotions then ran up my senses again but this time they were fierce, she was in pain of something. The divine mana is hurting her, demons and angels are opposites in mana and structure.
If she is still exposed to the divine mana she will be more likely to die.
[Use your power…]
Wha…
[The object that you placed on your head…Use it…]
…How. How do I use this power?
I didn’t care about what ‘it’ had planned. I didn’t care if ‘it’ planned to release ‘him’ into this world. All I cared about was that the girl in my arms would be saved, cured from this curse.
[Are you willing to use this power?]
Without hesitation, without no second thoughts, I agreed by nodding my head.
…I will even sell my soul to you if I have to…
Never in the years that I had lived, I never, not even once thought that I would say that to ‘it’.
[Repeat these words…]
KLYDE
This boy’s eyes lowered and so did his head. Did he already accept his fate along with the demon girl?
If so, I shall honor it and cut both of them without any pain.
Raising my sword to the top of my head, studying the movements of my opponents. I swing my sword down aiming into their necks.
You both have my pity towards having such terrible luck with fate…
“...Th’...I-Ifernal…S-Serpant…”
A whisper?
In that second I stopped my blade from reaching them, yet I still hoovered it close to them. Anything suspicious that he does and I won’t think twice to cut him down.
“...W-with all his host of rebels…” The boy took pauses in between each sentence, almost like he was giving up something.
“...b-by whose aid… with ambitious aim…” Being two to three steps away from this kid, I still couldn’t tell what he was saying. Sure his words of whisper reached me but I didn’t understand what they meant.
Could it be a spell incantation…no, there is no such thing that goes like that. As a guard of the angelic council, such a thing to exist in this universe does not live.
“...for the throne and…monarchy…”
“Him the almighty power…hurled headlong flaming…”
This boy’s words don’t sound like a bluff being brought out of nowhere, no, this is real power…
My senses told me that this kid was a bad feeling, if he kept on receding his unknown spell everything would be in danger. Not only my life but everyone’s life too, ally or enemy both would mean nothing to him when he finishes it.
Once again, I rapidly raise my sword. This time I didn’t calculate if my blade would cut both necks, this time I only prioritized one.
Being a guard of the angelic council, I can’t balance honor and danger, leaving only something that I hate the most. Guilt.
“...from th’ ethereal sky, there to dwell…”
Before the boy finished his spell, he raised his head up to me. The crimson eyes he had were replaced by azure eyes, the white long hair was too replaced by dark black hair. His facial expression was different from what it was earlier, his face showed determination and honor. Now the only thing that he showed was confidence and ambition.
A sly smile appeared in his face upon seeing me reacting to his physical changes.
“In adamantine chains and penal fire…Sore Halo”
