Many armies of people zoom past the heaps of mountains, some magicians flying.
A massive clash and explosions follow. I did not stop to look back at the "fireworks" display.
By the time I return, almost the entire squad of the BOV is missing. I assume they have gone to The Church of Axis.
The child from before walks up to me. "Officer?"
"Oh, hello. We can have a chat later alright? There's somewhere I need to go." I say.
"Wait..."
?
"I have a feeling that The Church of Axis purposely let me escape." the child says. "I've previously tried countless times but failed. I don't understand their sudden lax surveillance and security. I think...they are luring you and the other officers to the church."
...
I squat down to the child. "Any idea why?"
The child shakes his head. "But...recently in the past, I've been hearing lots of noises from the basement of the church. Please be careful."
I nod. "Alright."
There is only one church in the entire Clamore. Approaching the church allows me to see a large group of followers and children gathered outside the church. A few officers question the followers and keep an eye on them.
Inside the church, the officers spread out to inspect the area. Behind the church are several more buildings such as dormitories and a school.
I ask a fellow officer about the current situation. So far they found nothing out of place except one thing. The officer guides me to the back of the church where a set of stairs reveal itself below a small hatch door. We walk down the stairs to see a small room with shelves of documents. There are various boxes in the corner and Audrey is rummaging through those.
At the end of the room is a large black eerie door. Melissa and several others are trying to get it open.
Melissa gets up when she sees me. "Arsto...what was that?" She asks. "How did you even agitate that ancient being?"
"By attacking it."
She raises her brow, doubting my words due to how weak I am. She might have underestimated the centipede's ability.
I walk to the door and touch it.

Sealed Blackizan Door
Durability: 2883/10000
A door that can be unlocked by a specific mana injection pattern.
[Unlock]
------------------
Sometimes, I can unlock locked doors or barriers and arrays if my mana control and magic statistic are strong enough. The "unlock" option will then be available when inspecting it.
I press the "unlock" option and my hand touching the door gleams brightly. My consciousness is ejected out of my body into another space as if someone hit my head with a bat.

Everything went dark.
...
What happened?
This...ugh...
In the void, a sudden string of mana lights up. The light runs down the string of mana to the far horizon, lighting a single string.
Am I supposed to follow that?
Simply thinking about that, I follow the string of mana. The dim blue light reveals my current state, my body is translucent white.
This is my soul consciousness! Is this what Rena experienced every time? In the game, it doesn't show exactly how Rena "unlocks".
I catch up with the running light along the string of mana until it extends and splits into different branches, creating a massive cobweb of mana strings. In the middle of the cobweb is a single core.
The mana strings move away and present a path for me. I float to the core and touch it.
Am I supposed to break this or absorb it?
...
Let's try absorbing.
Strips of the core at the surface crack and flow into me.
Suddenly, I feel extremely nauseous. Random images of war flash before my eyes.
W-What? These are...memories??
Millions of knights trying to fight an eldritch giant, knights flung and die at every corner, destruction uplifting every nature.
Fearful and regretful, every knight has no choice but to give up their life in hopes of a meaningless kill.
Smoke fills the air. Fire sprinkles every corner of the battlefield.
Magic and technology were not as advanced. By the time the giant was subdued, an ocean of blood floods the battlefield and mountains of corpses, broken weapons, and armour cover the dirt beneath.
"ARGH?!"
My consciousness was injected back into my body, I jump back from the shock.
"Arsto?! What's wrong?" Melissa grasps my shoulder.
...
"Captain. It's open." An officer says, pushing the door.
"What?"
Melissa glances at the door and back at me. "What...did you do?"
"I'm not sure..." I mumble.
What did I just see? Were those memories of...mana? Mana can have memories????
Everything becomes confusing. Was that memory of ancient Bestokia?
I get up and follow the officers through the door. Beyond it is nothing but a small dungeon.
"Ah...you were able to crack the seal?" a man in long black robes says.
!!!!!
Around the man is a magic circle drawn with blood and charcoal and the bodies of the missing children surround him.
Melissa clenches her fist and quickly draws her gun and shoot. Despite the speed of light, the mysterious man was able to cast a barrier that could withstand her mana-imbued bullets.
...
"You have no escape. Surrender." Melissa says.
The man chuckles and raises his hand. Dark mana gathers around his palm.

You got to be kidding me! Not again. Who the hell even is that mage?
Run? No, I cannot outrun a level 999.
"ATTACK! DON'T LET HIM CAST THAT MAGIC!!!" I shout and draw the Blade of Eternity, activating its skill. I feel a sudden surge of power and impulse to kill the threat.

*BOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!*
One slash has enough power to send the entire infrastructure above us flying by a torrent of shockwave and ripples of aura. With a 500% stats increase, my attack statistic is above 1000.
Yet not even a scratch is seen on the barrier after the dust settles.
The area around me crumbles and twists from destruction. Melissa and the officers are sent far away.
"Not bad. Alas, I've been instructed not to kill." The man says. With the light finally shining on his face, I can see a young youth that looks similar to the previous deceased hero.
My jaws drop as I widen my eyes. "Who the fuck are you?"
The youth simply smiles at my question and shoots his hand up, sending a pillar of black-purple mana into the sky which engulfs the entire vicinity.
And it's once again total darkness.
