Ling Chens POV:

I gained my memories from my previous life when I was 5 I remembered everything about my life up until I died in a lab experiment where I was experimenting on multiversal portals and an accident happened while I was on the cusp of a major breakthrough. due to the nature of my experimentation I can only hypothesis that this is the reason for me being able to have my memories in this current life, as for how I died. I believe that my body was disintegrated in the accident and my soul was sent to this world.

I originally thought that with my knowledge of science and technology I could bring this world into a new era, however that all seemed like a pipe dream now that I know I can't cultivate. So I won't be able to access enough resources to experiment enough to make new products and discoveries

I've been spending my time since regaining my memories, working on various gadgets and contraptions in the hopes of Becoming powerful despite my lack of cultivation. I've also been reading up on cultivation and trying to find a way that I can cultivate even without spirit roots but if I can't do that I'll try use my knowledge of science and engineering and mix it with this worlds knowledge on qi and cultivation to make some truly amazing discoveries and products.

So far I've managed to create a few small gadgets like a qi amplifier and a qi detector but I'm still working on perfecting them so far they are no where near the level of even a the average cultivator in this village's level and they are un able to be mass-produced so selling them is not an option but as a proof of concept about mixing my knowledge of technology with this worlds Qi it shows its definitely possible.

I'm also working on a few other projects like trying to create a new metal that is lighter and stronger than steel by infusing them with low amounts of qi that will improve their molecular structure making it way lighter and far stronger but the problem so far with it is that I can't get my hands on enough Iron or enough spirit stones like usual.

Now back to plan H I made a different plan for each scenario of the results of the Talent testing Plan A was the easiest and one with the highest chance of success that was of course that I got the best talent possible but I expected that not to happen so I wasn't too disappointed unfortunately I got one of the worst outcomes no talent for cultivation but luckily I will be able to use my brother who has a high talent for cultivation

My first step in my plan is to gain funds which I should be able to get some by selling the rights to steel although I don't have the formula correct for steelqi normal steel is incredibly easy to make and the benefits are obvious even in a world with cultivation the real problem comes with getting into the city safely and selling the recipe to steel as I'll be killed by any cultivator if someone weak like me is found with significant amount of spirit stones.

Lin Feng POV:

I was shocked when I found out that my brother had no talent for cultivation I always looked up to him and even though we didn't get along I still respected him but not anymore he is now just trash who is destined to be

I didn't want to be compared to him anymore and I was happy that I had talent I'm going to rise like a phoenix from the ashes while my oh so perfect brother is going to stay as a bottom feeder in society

While in a daze thinking about my future some walked up to me I looked up shocked it was the village elder the leader of the village and the most powerful cultivator in the village "Excuse me Lin Feng I want to have a private talk with you in my office" he said with a smile on his face but I could see the seriousness in his eyes

I knew this wasn't going to be a good thing "Of course village elder" I said with a quivering voice I was scared of what he was going to say to me

We walked into his office and he sat down behind his desk "Lin Feng I'm sorry to say this but your talent has been revealed to the village and I'm afraid that you are in danger" he said with a grave expression on his face

I was confused "What do you mean I'm in danger, why would anyone want to hurt me I haven't done anything wrong" I said with a confused and worried expression

He sighed "It's because of your talent Lin Feng, you have the highest talent for cultivation that has been seen in the village in over 500 years" he said

I was shocked when I heard this, I had no idea that my talent was so high "But why is that a bad thing, shouldn't everyone be happy for me?" I asked

He shook his head "No, you see in this world talent is everything the higher your talent the more respect you get from others and the more power you have. There are those who are jealous of others with high talent and will do anything to bring them down. I'm afraid that there are those who will try to hurt you in order to prevent you from becoming too powerful" he said

I was scared now, I had no idea that having a high talent could be so dangerous "What can I do to protect myself?" I asked

I want you to become my personal disciple I'll protect and help you become the strongest cultivator in the village" he said

I was hesitant at first but after thinking about it I realized that it was the best option I had so I agreed "Thank you village elder, I won't let you down" I said with a determined expression on my face

He nodded "I know you won't, now let's go tell your parents the good news" he said with a smile on his face

I was happy as I walked out of his office I knew that from now on my life would be changed forever
