CHAPTER EIGHT

Wolf

We got back to the palace and we left the hovercraft in the front of the palace. Once we were out of the hovercraft Jacob told me he was going to tell Kalnas what he saw on Octor. So Jacob Jacob went to his hovercraft and took off towards Kalnas. I on the other hand went into the palace and headed to the study. When I got there I thought about what I should do and I decided on the course of action I was most comfortable with.

Palace put me through to Ship. I said. I waited a moment for the connection to go through.

What can I do for you master. Said Ship.

I would like for you to leave the hanger and go to space and await further orders. But don’t contact air traffic control just don’t get in anybody’s way.

I will leave at once master. Said Ship.

So Ship asked Palace to open the doors to the underground hangar. Once the doors were open Ship started leaving the hanger once in the air it headed to less traveled routes then headed up towards space. Once in space it started scanning on passive mode like that no one would detect it. All those scans would get cataloged and saved for later use. Because one thing that Wolf learnt from Karnas and Kalnas was that it was always good to have information. But he also learnt from them that the trick was knowing how to use it. Because if you used the information wrong then all the information would just be a liability.

Because peaple would know you had it and nobody likes someone who has something on them. That was why the trick was knowing how to use it. Because part of using it was making sure that it wouldn’t come back to bite you later. One way to accomplish that was if they didn’t know who you were. A second way was if you had them in the right position and they didn’t tell anyone.

After Ship left I headed to the dining room to have some dinner. After dinner I told Marie to take all of my employees out and have some fun. It was something I did to keep them happy and it usually left the palace empty for me to enjoy myself. After speaking to Marie I went to my room took a shower and went to bed.

Jacob

After what we saw on Octor Three I thought I should let Kalnas know. So after we landed in front of the palace I went to my old hovercraft and headed towards Kalnas’s office. When I got to Kalnas’s office I saw he wasn’t there so I asked his one of his assistants where he was. He told me Kalnas was in the operations center so I headed over there. When I got there the room was guarded which wasn’t surprising because it was always guarded. But this looked like it was for more then just normal security purposes.

Officially I was still employed by Kalnas that was so no one would know what I really did. So I was still in the security system for the building so I was scanned and I went through to another room. In this room I was scanned again then I went into the operations center. Once in I walked over to Kalnas’s office that was in here he used it for when he stayed at the operations center for more then a few minutes. I rang the bell and waited for him to let me in.

Kalnas let me in and offered me a seat. Once I was seated he asked his questions.

So what are you doing here Jacob. Asked Kalnas.

I wanted to let you know that when I was on Octor earlier today I saw a lot of military units. It looked like there was more than there is usually. So I came to let you know because I thought you would want to know. Said Jacob.

Thanks for telling me but I already knew they are on the move this way they are a few minutes from us. You might want to leave this moon before it becomes too late. Said Kalnas.

If I may ask why is the lycanthrope military coming after us. Asked Jacob.

I’m not sure why they are coming after us but the one thing that I know they are doing is coming after us. But if I had to take a guess why they were coming after us I would say it was because they wanted to take me off the chess board. But just killing me out right would cause problems because the people who survived might come looking for revenge. So killing me and everyone else that works for me would accomplish what they wanted without someone being alive after the fact to come after them. Said Kalnas.

So you might want to leave now. I think it is time for you to go and say goodbye to Wolf for me. Said Kalnas.

Goodbye and die well. With that Jacob got up and left and headed back to the palace.

Wolf

Jacob woke me up a few minutes ago telling me we had to leave. The first thing I did was tell the staff to head to an open area so we could pick them up. Then we quickly got into the hovercraft and headed towards them. But just as we were about to pick them up we watched as the building they were near exploded. I felt them die though my mental network and I froze. Lucky for me Jacob acted like the veteran he was and he quickly got us out of there and headed for space.

Jacob got us to space then he got me to snap out of it. Then he asked me where we were going. I gave him the coordinates to ship and that’s where we headed. When we got near the ship I hit the com button on the console and asked Ship to open the landing bay. Once ship opened the landing bay Jacob piloted us in. Once in the landing bay Jacob shut down the hovercraft and we headed to the bridge of Ship. We decided we would wait around and see what happened with Octor Three.

But we couldn’t stay where we were so we moved away from the fighting and waited to see what would happen. After that was taken care of I headed to my room and went to bed. All of these different occurrences were making me remember that I didn’t know who my real family was and it hurt. So I went to my room, undressed took a shower put on some pajamas and went to bed.

When I woke up I was starving I quickly got dressed and headed to get something to eat. When I walked into the mess I saw Jacob sitting at a table with some food in front of him and it looked like another plate for me. So I headed over and sat down on the other side of him.

I see you woke up. I prepared something for you to eat. Said Jacob.

I ate some food and when I wasn’t starving anymore I asked Jacob how long I’ve been asleep.

You’ve been asleep for about thirty six hours. Said Jacob.

That must be why I was so hungry. Ok so why don’t you tell me what has been going on for the last thirty six hours. While you do that I will finish eating then we will decide what we want to do.

Ok it looks like the lycanthrope navy took two thirds of their forces and is using them to conquer the emporium. So they used one thousand ships and they started with Kalnas’s navy and it looks like they aren’t stopping there. While you were sleeping and just before Kalnas’s office building was destroyed we got two messages from Kalnas that were sent to your com. Which got transferred to the ship I couldn’t open one of them but there was a message attached to that one. It said that you would eventually know the password and when you opened the file you would know how to use it. The other one you should look at when you have some time later it concerns money that Kalnas is giving to you.

The lycanthrope navy pretty much decimated Octor Three. They just dropped bomb after bomb with some missiles thrown in for good luck. So the surface of Octor Three is nothing but scorched earth with pieces of metal thrown in from the missiles. It looks like that is what they are going to do to the rest of the emporium.

I’m not sure what they want to accomplish but it looks like they don’t want anything to stand in their way. Said Jacob.

By the time Jacob finished filling me in on all that I missed I had finished eating. So I was able to tell him what we were going to do.

Ok so we will stay here for a while and see what happens to the rest of the emporium. Then something tells me we are going to have to keep moving so maybe you should get us some fake documents. From there we will see where we will end up.

So we ended up just waiting around for another week and that was when things got interesting. What was interesting was there was a posting on the royal auction board that said some of the planets and moons would be sold to people that could afford to buy them. Of course that’s not what the posting said but that’s kind of what it meant. That was very interesting and I wouldn’t mind owning Octor Three like that nobody decided to take to closet a look at the palace.

The posting said the auction would take place in one weeks time. Giving the rich people some time to liquidate some assets. Which meant companies were being sold for cheaper than they were worth. Which was a perfect opportunity to get a company or two that was worth more than it was being sold for. I ended up buying five different small companies with the money Kalnas left me and still had money left over to hopefully buy Octor Three.

With Kalnas’s money I bought a raw food company. Which basically meant it sold some grains, meats, fruits and vegetables. It was a smallish company owning a little bit of its own property that they grew some of the more expensive fruit and vegetables. The rest of the stuff they sold was stuff they bought under contract from different farmer’s. I bought the food company because it would be easy to expand and it was a steady business not needing a lot of work.

The second company I bought was a shipping company. I bought this company because it might help me hide and because Jacob told me to. He said it would be a good place to hide because the shipping business was full of mercenaries and peaple who generally wanted to hide. Which was easy in the shipping business because you were always moving, never staying in one place long enough for someone to notice you.

The third company was an engineering company; it had some government contracts as far as I could tell but it was nothing special. I bought this company because it would be an in with the government.

The fourth company I bought was a trading company. They bought and sold different goods from tons of food to ships. They bought anything they thought they could sell for a higher price.

The fifth company I bought was a beverage company. This company was just something that I thought I would enjoy. I thought that because when we took the food class at the war college I particularly liked the part about beverages. Also with a few key contracts it would make a nice profit.

When the week was up there were another few hundred ships in what used to be the emporium. Most of these new ships were agents of the rich people who couldn’t get here to actually look and buy themselves. So they sent agents which were actually pretty common most of these agents were actually lawyers. A rich person usually had multiple agents working for him as buyers sellers and to feed him information that they might find useful.

Because rich people couldn’t get to where they wanted quickly enough most planets kind of had the same things on them. Food sometimes came from another planet because it was worth it to own a planet that was dedicated to growing food. This was one of the reasons I bought the engineering company. They were working on ways to improve the engines in ships. When that happened there would be a big market for those engines.

We waited around a few more days and finally the auction was about to start. There was no order to which planets were being sold. They went for a minimum of fifty trillion credits and some as high as a hundred and fifty trillion credits. There was no way that I would be able to afford it. Even with all the money that I got from Kalnas it still only equaled one point five trillion credits. I spent close to seven hundred billion credits to acquire those companies and I depleted all of my money that I had in the bank from what I stole from Gazaet to the investments with Goron and Baku.

Then I got lucky. Before they put the planets up for auction they would release a full survey of the planet. It usually happened about one hour before they sold the planet and they only released one at a time so the actual auction took like three days. Finally at the end of third there was only one planet left and it was Octor Three. This time when the planet survey came, so did an attachment and it said that the planet would not be able to be used for fifty years. According to the paper that was released that was a minimum it could easily be uninhabitable for two hundred years.

Where bidding usually started at a trillion credits it started at one billion credits. From there it rose quickly because it was still a good investment for that cheap. But as the price rose it slowed down until I placed a bid for seven hundred and fifty billion credits. After my bid no one bid anymore and just like that I was the new owner of Octor Three. Of course no one knew that because if I learnt one thing at the war college it was anonymity was something that once lost was hard to get back and I was on the run. So the planet and the companies were bought by the same company that invested with Goron and Baku. I didn’t think either of them would rat me out so I was pretty safe in using the same company. But I thought it was worth it even with the added risk

The reason for that was everyone knew of all these different companies. Everyone knew of the famous companies in each sector of industry. The company could be known for any number of reasons from the company giving a lot of money to charity to its owned by a celebrity. But then there were the companies that were known to top business people. These companies were known not necessarily because they were big. No they were known because they held the rights to small inventions and a lot of stuff used those small inventions.

Those companies have a lot of friends behind the scenes and it is always good to have friends. So I wanted to build this company into a small company that had a big reach and to do that I needed the right companies and friends. Luckily I found some good companies and hopefully they would bring me friends.

After all the payments were made to the sellers for the company and the plant we left. While we were traveling I communicated what I wanted done with the companies to the C.E.O.’s. After I finished taking care of the companies I now owned I went to ask Jacob where we were going.

That was when Jacob broke the news to me that we were going to have to split up. But he told me not to worry he would get me into a school that would protect me. He told me they would teach me new skills and after awhile he would come back for me.

So we started heading to the planet Vikra. Vikra was like any other planet except there were a few more universities than a regular planet. So there were a lot of young adults and if you were young you could fit in. That was why it was the perfect place to put an intelligence and assassin school. No one looked too closely about what was going on because it was just another school.
