CHAPTER SEVEN

Wolf’s palace

It was a year after Baku left that the palace looked like a palace. The garden was looking nice and buitiful. The building looked like it wasn’t in disrepair but the basement still needed work. But the A. I. fully subscribed to Marie’s opinion that what peaple could see had to be fixed first.

It was almost time for the chips to start arriving so today I would have to buy some metals to build the mainframes. While the chips would be very good we would need some very good mainframes and they weren’t to hard to make so the A.I. said it would make them and they didn’t take to much time.

So after breakfast I headed over to the metal dealer with Jacob in tow. When I got there it looked like the place expanded and Goron was now selling alloys as well. But the place looked clean it took me a second to realize what Goron did. He only had out samples of the metal and alloys it looked like the actual order was picked up or delivered. I went to the desk and gave them my order of twenty thousand pounds of assorted metals.

I asked the A.I. why it wanted so much metel it told me it was good to have some extra. So after I paid for the metal I told them where to deliver it then I went and headed back to the palace.

When I got back to the palace I hit the books and studied for a test that was this week. After studying for a while I ate dinner and went to my room got undressed took a shower put on some underwear and went to bed.

When I woke up the next morning I saw I had a message from Kalnas asking me to come to the auction at around lunch time. So I got up got dressed and had some breakfast then went to the study to think about that day. Before I could even start thinking about it the A.I. Interrupted me which a question.

What do you think about owning your own ship? I had to think about and I wasn’t so sure so I asked Jacob to come see me in the study. When Jacob came I asked him about owning a ship. I was surprised that he seemed to think it was a great idea. So I asked him why he thought it was a great idea.

Then he explained it to me as much as Kalnas was my friend he wasn’t going to be around to take care of me for ever. He also wasn’t going to be giving me free rides when ever I wanted to go somewhere. When I thought about it like that I understood what he was talking about.

After Jacob left I asked the A.I. what it had in mind in the way of a ship. The A.I. told me to take two drones when I went to the auction and put them into the ship.

Why should I take drones with me to put on the ship?

Because the drones are going to scan the Uzbaz ship so like that I have a template and they are pretty advanced. I’m also going to get the best of everything to install on the ship. I’m going to get the schematics on weapons shields engines and everything else that would be good for a ship to have. But by the time I’m finished with your ship there will be similar ones out there so the ship won’t stand out so much.

With that taken care of I put two of the drones in a bag and headed out. We took Jacob’s hovercraft to Kalnas’s office. From there we headed over to the ship with the rest of the bidders. Once on the ship I let the drones out of the bag when no one was looking so they could do their thing. Then I walked with everyone else to the mess hall for the auction to take place.

They served some drinks and food while peaple circulated the room talking to each other while everyone was doing that I stood in the back with Jacob at my side. We discussed the opportunity for me to take a psychology class for the next year and half. Jacob was very for the idea I was also we were just discussing the ups and down. But it was definitely decided that it would be best if I took the class.

When Kalnas got to selling the battleship that he got from the Uzbaz it ended up selling for four billion credits. The reason it went so high was because every time someone bid the Ucdaz went higher. So everyone thought they knew something that everyone else didn’t so they would bid higher then the Ucdaz. Until it reached four billion credits then no one bid higher then the Ucdaz.

As everyone was leaving the ship I picked up the two drones that I bought with me and headed over to Kalnas to say goodbye. After that I headed home to the palace with Jacob. When we got to the palace I let the drones out and walked into the study.

I sat down in my desk and started speaking.

Computer could you sign me up for the psychology class that they are giving at the college.

Sure just give me a moment. Ok now that, that is taken care of we need to start designing the ship so how bout you tell me what you want from the ship said the A.I.

I want it to look more like a cargo ship then a warship. It should have a lot of cargo space to do delivery contracts. But it should also have some powerful weaponry but not over loaded. It should be able to have a crew that should fit comfortably but not overdone. It should also have some passenger space. I will leave the design up to you so please nothing to bad.

Also I’m assuming you’re using the dry dock that’s part of the complex. So make sure that the power for that part of the building is working properly. I don’t need power issues did I miss anything.

No you are doing fine I also acquired the schematics for the Uzbaz warship and all of its sub systems. So I will modify the plan then get to work on it. You should go to bed because the psychology class starts early tomorrow morning.

With that done I headed off to my room and took a shower and went to bed. The next morning I got up got dressed grabbed a snack and headed to my psychology class. A minute after I arrived the professor walked in and the class started. It looked like it was going to be a interesting class. Once the class was over I headed to the gym for martial arts training. After that I had breakfast then I finished out the rest of my day at the war college.

A week later the computer chips from Baku arrived with that the work at the palace picked up. Every time a new server was brought online more drones were added. That was until there was enough drones for what needed to get done. A order was placed at the metal dealer for metal to arrive every morning so the drones had what to work with. With no more drones that needed making and metal showing up the drones got down to repairing the dry dock that was in the ground and a extension of the palace. Once they got working and cleaned and powered they started building the hull of my future ship.

Something started bothering me a few months later and I couldn’t figure out what it was. Since I couldn’t figure it out I kept doing what I was supposed which was studying at the war college. My studies were going well and I enjoyed them so focusing on them wasn’t a problem.

Kalnas’s office

Kalnas was sitting in his office contemplating a report he just got that said one of the transport contracts went bad. This wasn’t the first time that something went wrong but it seemed that lately a lot of things were going wrong and that bothered him. The reason it bothered him was that no one would go up against Kalnas unless they had overwhelming odds in their favor. The reason for that was that Kalnas would come after you when he found out who you were. He would come with a big fleet and would make it bigger by calling in favors that he was owed to expand his fleet if he had to.

So Kalnas was contemplating who was big enough and had a reason to come after him. Kalnas didn’t come up with anyone who fit both criteria and that was very unsettling. It was unsettling because he didn’t know how was coming after him. But most of all it looked like a knew player was in the game and he didn’t know who and Kalnas knew all the players.

So Kalnas was contemplating how to protect his business and find out who this new player was. But there was a problem with this and that was for some one to just pop up and challenge him they had to be well connected. If they were as well connected then they would know Kalnas was looking for them and they would come after him personally.

The more Kalnas thought about it the more he realized that there was only one person who he could ask for help. So he had to figure out how to ask the queen of the Uzbaz for help. It would have to be good he couldn’t come off as begging. When Kalnas figured it out he asked his assistant to connect him to the Uzbaz queen.

When the queen showed up on the screen Kalnas was wondering how this would go. He got lucky that she started for him.

Hello Kalnas let me guess why you are calling. You want to know if I know who is going after your business interests. But you can’t just ask so you are going ask for a favor in the name of selling the ship to the Ucdaz. I will tell you what I know and what I know is that there is a bit of monkey business going on in your species high society. I don’t know what is going on all I know is peaple are looking for allies and friends and alliances are being made. That’s what I know and a word of warning be careful who you trust. Because they are very high up in the lycanthrope government.

With that piece of knowledge Kalnas knew where to start looking. A while later when his inquiries bore fruit he didn’t like what he saw but unfortunately for him it was already to late to do anything about what he learnt. With all the names that were involved he would not be able to do a single thing about it.

Throne room of king Max Balder

Max Balder was king of the lycanthrope empire he was a decent king. But he had a very big fault and that was he was to trusting of what peaple told him. So when the the head of the royal intelligence service came to him and asked him for his signature on the order to wipe out the mercenary company that Kalnas ran he asked for proof of his crimes.

The crimes of Kalnas were presented to the king and after looking over the crimes the king signed the order for the military to kill Kalnas and wipe out his mercenary company.

Then the king started speaking about making sure the war college was empty of students from other empires. Like that there wouldn’t be a war or multiple wars because of the killing of the students.

With that signature the king signed away his life even though it wouldn’t happen for many years it would happen and when it did there would be nothing he could do about it. Because if he would have thought about the stuff he was signing he would have saw that nothing was as it seemed.

With the king’s signature on the order for Kalnas’s death the head of the royal intelligence service went to the head of the military and gave him a copy of the order. Once the order was received the head of the military and his advisers started coming up with plans based on the amount of ships that Kalnas could bring to a space fight. When the plans were completed orders were given to the appropriate fleas to move into position of the planet Octor.

The reason for this is that the planet Octor was part of the lycanthrope empire. While Octor Three was part of the Emporium so the lycanthrope fleet wasn’t leaving its borders just yet. Another thing that was good about Octor was that there was a large military base there because it was close to the border. Since there was routinely large fleets of war ships no one would know the difference.

Wolf

Wolf was finishing up the last of his classes for this quarter. After this test there would be a break for a month then classes would start again. Because it could take more then a month for some of the students to reach their home worlds their parents or other visitors came to them. So the parents or other guests came to Octor Three and picked up the student then headed out to where ever they wanted to go.

Then next day wolf went to the basement with Jacob to check out the ship that the A.I. made. It was finished and it was a buitiful ship it and it could enter a planets atmosphere. Which was very unique because most ships couldn’t enter the atmosphere. Which was why building a ship was very expensive because you needed a ship to build another ship.

The ship could enter the atmosphere but that was only one of the things that made it so unique. Another one of the qualities of the ship was that there was a drone maker on the ship. Which means there was a A.I. on the ship but that doesn’t even scratch the surface of the ship. The A.I. was built into the ship so it could control the whole ship with out a crew but it would work better with a crew.

With the ship there was also a hovercraft made with so no one would know that the ship could enter the atmosphere. There was a lot of other information that was available about the ship. But that was just the important bits said palace the palace A.I.

When I walked onto the ship it looked like any other ship but I knew it was a ship that was very unique. Once was on the ship I called out to the A.I. and asked it if it would like to be called ship like the palace was called palace it said yes.

With the tour of the ships over I wanted to check in with Goron because he moved to the planet Octor. So I wanted to check out his new shop and see what it looked like. I liked the old one and he said it would look better then that one so I was excited to see it.

So I walked over to the hovercraft with Jacob and we got into the pilot and copilot seats. The reason for that was there wasn’t enough room for the extra hardware that the A.I. would need. The A.I. for the ship took up a lot of room it took up more room then it did in the palace. It also didn’t have as much extra power for emergencies. Since the hovercraft didn’t have enough room we had to pilot by ourselves. There was a connection that we could speak to the A.I. on the ship and ask it to do stuff otherwise we had to do it all.

We turned on the hovercrafts power plant then started the engine then I had the palace A.I. open the hatch for the roof. Once it was opened then we started rising and up we went. Once we were in the air we got permission from flight control for a flight path then headed towards space. Once in space we went towards Octor as we approached we asked flight control for permission to land by Goron’s metal shop. They gave us a longer route because there was traffic so it took a few minutes longer to land in front of Goron’s shop.

It looked like there was only a shop here and the warehouse and refinery were elsewhere. The outside of the building looked very similar to the buildings next to it in this area. The area was known for buying and selling of goods usually in large amounts. Shops in this area sold to governments businesses and pretty much anyone who could afford to buy a large amount. Shops sold food metal wood electronics and anything else that’s sold in large amounts.

The inside of the shop looked much better than the one on Octor Three. There was hardwood buitiful paintings and a nice selection of metals. It looked like a place that you would want to come to it didn’t look like a metal shop that a lot of other dealers places looked like. After meeting with Goron and discussing the shop he gave me my share of the profits for this quarter. Which was fifty million credits I was wondering when it would slow down because there was no way that peaple were still buying metal. I don’t know but I guess I was lucky because a lot of Octor was getting turned into factories and Goron was the only metal dealer around here.

With that done I decided to walk around for a while and I didn’t like what I saw. Which was a increased level of the military. I’m not very good at seeing these types of things but it was quite obvious to me. So I decided to head back to the palace with Jacob. So we did the whole process in reverse with air traffic control. Once that was taken care of we were on our way back to Octor Three.
