Without much thought, Shane answered, "No. My family has housekeepers, so they do all the chores. I never had to do any chores." Yvonne knew that Shane would need time to learn how to cook. She took the ingredients out of the refrigerator and then gestured for Shane to come over. "Come here."
Shane obediently walked up to Yvonne. She taught him how to cut up the vegetables for cooking; when he was done, she taught him how to wash the vegetables. He learned diligently without any complaints. Shane stole a glance at Yvonne-he suddenly thought she looked more charming than any other woman he knew, and he felt his heart flutter uncontrollably.
Retracting his gaze, Shane focused on washing the vegetables. Once he was done, he said, "I'm done with the vegetables. What's next?"
"Let me handle it," Yvonne said, putting the vegetables aside to be chopped up. She continued, "You must be tired from doing all the work. You can rest in the living room."
"Sure."
Shane sat on the couch in the living room. As he gazed at Yvonne's figure, he pondered on what Sasha said to him.
Sasha said that he should find a job, and she asked if he wanted to be financially dependent on a woman. At that time, Shane couldn't understand what Sasha meant. But now, he finally got it.
If Shane were to marry Yvonne, that would mean she had to do chores on top of having a job. But what about Shane? He would be useless.
Shane couldn't accept that; he was determined to think of a way to earn money. He casually opened his wallet only to see that it was filled with various membership cards. Suddenly, Shane had an idea of what he could do.
Many people would dream of getting connected to the upper class, yet they didn't have the means to do so. After all, high-end social clubs required adequate financial resources and certain levels of social standing.
Shane thought of utilizing his membership cards to help other people access social clubs and meet people that they want to. Then, he could gain some benefits from there. At that thought, Shane smiled.
Before Shane fell out with his father, he had access to these social clubs and had many membership cards. However Shane knew that the social clubs had strict entry rules. He wasn't
snt sure which would allow him to enter, so he verified that by contacting them individually.
When a social club denied his entry, Shane would request to cancel his membership. The club would process the cancellation instead of trying to convince him to stay.
On the other hand, Shane kept the
membership cards to the social clubs that allowed him to enter.
There were a handful that allowedt
his access, yet they expressed hesitance-Shane canceled those memberships as well. They were
quick to refund his membership fee.
When Shane saw the money returned to him, he was in disbelief. He didn't realize he spent so much money on membership cards; he also realized he was such a prodigal son in the past. Shane laughed at himself.
Before his relationship with his
father fell apart, Shane never thought much of the money he had But ever since Carlisle publicly cut ties with him, he had come to appreciate the large amount of money he had. He may never be
able to earn that much money on hisnoveldrama
own.
Yvonne was busy cooking in the kitchen when she overheard Shane's phone calls. He was talking about things that she didn't understand.
She quickly glanced at Shane before looking away, leaving him be. After all, Shane's business had nothing to do with her.
