Chapter 204

After hearing Naomi's words, Sylvia's mind was a whirlwind of confusion.

She couldn't think of anyone whose initials were LH.

Racking her brain, she finally said, "Mom, could you keep an eye out for me? Next time they have one of their gatherings, you've got to let me know."

Naomi didn't agree right away, her voice betraying her unrest, "Sylvia, what exactly are you planning to do? Haven't you always wanted to keep your distance from Bridget and her clique?"

Sylvia pursed her lips, stood up, and walked over to the window, gazing at the moon.

That was true, once upon a time. Because she had made a promise to Stella, to be a joyful jewelry designer, to rise above, to make up for past regrets.

So, distancing herself from her old fate had always been her sole aim. To fulfill the wish she and Stella shared.

But as she lay in the hospital bed, listening to Rupert's threats to side with Bridget, with blood spreading from her lower body, it felt like experiencing the pain of losing Stella all over again.

If she hadn't taken birth control back then, her Stella would now be nothing but a pool of blood.

She could no longer suppress the seeds of hatred; she couldn't forget Bridget's smug expression.

"Bridget, if you love provoking so much, then you'll taste what it's like to lose what you cherish most!" She swore to herself.

Sylvia closed her eyes and, upon opening them again, was utterly calm, "Mom, don't worry too much. I just feel our situation is a bit unstable. Having a little leverage couldn't hurt, just to be safe."

Naomi didn't think too much of it, even considering Sylvia to be quite perceptive.

"You're right. I'll keep an eye on Fanny. It's getting late; you should get some sleep. Edwin got a call and hasn't been back yet, which has me up too."

"Didn't you call to check on him?"noveldrama

Sylvia lay back down, showing her concern with a question.

Naomi replied indifferently, "Can't get through. Probably some work emergency. It's happened before. I'll wait a bit longer."

"Alright, don't stay up too late."

After advising, Sylvia hung up the phone, closed her eyes, and tried to sleep.

In the dead of night.

Sylvia was in a drowsy sleep when her phone vibrated on the pillow beside her. Blinking her eyes open, she fumbled for her phone before answering, "Hello?" "Sylvia! You need to come to the hospital."

Hearing the voice on the other end, Sylvia immediately sat up. "Edwin? What happened? Why are you at the hospital?"

"It's not me, it's Warren. He's still unconscious, keeps calling your name, so I had to call you." Edwin's voice carried a hint of exon.

IMS

"What happened to him?" Sylvia was already out of bed as she asked.

"He had a car accident on his way back from a business trip. Didn't want to worry his mom, so his secretary called me."

"I'll be right there."

Sylvia hung up, rushed to the door, threw on a coat hanging in the hallway, and dashed to the hospital.

When she arrived, Warren had been moved from the emergency room back to his ward. She ran into Edwin at the door of the ward.

"Edwin, how's he doing?"

"Broken arm, a dozen minor injuries, but luckily nothing life-threatening. Just needs rest. He just woke up, you can go in. I'll check with the doctor on what comes next.

"Okay."

Sylvia nodded, opened the door, and entered the ward.

Hearing the sound, Warren weakly lifted his gaze and even managed a smile when he saw her. "Sylvia, what are you doing here? It's nothing serious."

Warren's usually handsome face

was marred by a large abrasion, making for a distressing sight, His arm was in a cast, and even sitting up seemed a struggle.
