Re: After-Action Report on Portal Recon Mission

We are two of only three survivors from Alpha Team's reconnaissance mission into a portal anomaly, code name Cerberus. The portal itself exhibited an oscillating energy field with a high level of flux not yet observed in prior cases.

Immediately upon crossing the portal threshold, we experienced complete disorientation and freefall as the laws of physics within the portal distorted normal time, space, and gravity. How we ultimately survived this transitional stage remains unclear.

Upon exiting the portal, we found ourselves in a hellish, alien landscape wracked by violent storms and toxic air. No lifeforms were immediately evident. Utilizing rebreathers, we initiated our primary recon directive to ascertain the origin point of the portal and possible hostile presence.

Navigation proved extremely treacherous due to frequent spatial distortions and gravity fluctuations within the anomaly realm. We nonetheless achieved two miles' progress toward some visible erected structures in the distance.

It was then that the ambush occurred. A swarm of winged reptilian creatures emerged from underneath the sandy terrain, easily overwhelming our unit. Only Cpt. Darkholme and myself survived the attack, but we were both injured and cut off from our portal entry-point.

In summary, Cerberus represents an extremely hostile pocket dimension unlike any humanly habitable environment. The entity or entities controlling this realm pose a grave existential threat should access to our world increase.

We cannot currently confirm how portals like Cerberus form, which is key to developing safe containment measures. But further reckless manned reconnaissance operations are extremely ill-advised at this stage.

Our official recommendation is to fortify high-risk portal zones while gathering intelligence remotely using drones. Only minimal rescue personnel should attempt to interact with future portals directly until we better comprehend the grave dangers.

Re: Observations on Psychic Abilities in Survivors

I am submitting this report following my experiences with several teenagers displaying uncanny powers after surviving initial portal attacks on their town.

While full understanding of these abilities remains elusive, I have directly observed them in action and formulated some working theories about their nature and taxonomy.

Based on the "voice" descriptions from those affected, a central component seems to be an RPG-like power system with experience levels that unlock new abilities. Powers appear connected to different mystical energy pools such as "Mana," "Aura," "Psi," and Odds.

Subject Booker Washington has accessed the "Mana" power suite, granting energy manipulation and projection abilities. At Level 3 he displayed a "Multi-Shot" skill emitting simultaneous ranged blasts.

Subject Mitch Striges possesses "Aura" abilities focused on physical prowess and brute force. His Level 3 "Berserk" state enrages and empowers but reduces rational control. Requires caution.

Subject Astor Bracken wields dangerous "Psi" mental powers revolving around psychic suggestion, mind reading, and emotion manipulation. Moral imperative he avoids influencing minds against their will.

Subject Mei Quezon has sporadic "Odds" abilities that defy physics, including short-range teleportation and invisibility. Reports immunity to direct psychic manipulation.

In summary, these individuals should not be feared, but aided in ethically developing powers that can help ensure public safety and national security. I advise function-focused training tailored to each's psychic pool and moral compass.
