Chapter 5: Spiritual Source

Chapter 5: Spiritual Source

As soon as he pushed the door a bit, he felt something blocking it. Then, he looked up and saw a swollen and pale face through the crack of the door. More than half of the face was covered by wet black hair, only revealing a swollen dead eyes.

This eye is lifeless, with only the whites remaining.

The pale and swollen face is like a zombie that only appears in movies. What's even more eerie and terrifying is that a layer of furry white hair grows on the surface.

Unexpectedly, Harry never imagined he would suddenly come face to face with such a strange and terrifying visage. He was so frightened that his soul nearly left his body, and he couldn't help but let out a horrified scream, instinctively wanting to turn and run away.

With a loud "bang," the door was suddenly pulled open, and just as Harry turned around, he felt something wet and slimy hit him. The force behind it was so strong that he couldn't keep his balance, and he fell heavily to the ground, hitting his forehead on the floor. He saw stars and blood flowed from the wound. He then felt a heavy weight pressing down on him.

At this critical moment, Harry didn't have time to be afraid anymore. He immediately struggled with all his might, using his hands, feet, knees, and waist to flip over and throw off whatever was weighing him down.

Finally, he could see clearly what was happening.

It was the female corpse that had been soaking in the water in the stairwell that had just pounced and pinned me down.

The big white face that was soaked and swollen, the body bloated, a lot of flesh and blood on the chest, abdomen and legs were gnawed away, revealing the white bones inside, and even vaguely visible viscera, wet body and hair in a constant flow of water.

The most horrible thing is undoubtedly her exposed flesh and face, a layer of white furry hair, as the legendary white zombie.

The female corpse was really strong, but her hands and feet seemed stiff, not as flexible as a living person. Harry managed to push her aside, and she fell next to him. She reached out with her furry hands, trying to grab Harry, but her movements were slow.

Harry struggled to get up and held a kitchen knife and a hammer in his hands. He smashed the woman's head, flesh and blood flying everywhere, splattering on his face.

He could not understand why this female corpse would act and even attack him. The only thing he could think of was that the corpse had turned into a zombie-like monster.

The female corpse looked terrifying with her swollen white face, bloated body, and exposed bones and viscera. She resembled a white zombie from legends with her furry white hair. Despite her immense strength, her movements were stiff and slow, making it easy for Harry to dodge her attacks.

Armed with a kitchen knife and hammer, Harry strikes the female corpse repeatedly in the face and head, causing flesh and blood to splatter all over him. With each blow, he unleashes an unprecedented level of fear and panic, channeling all his strength into his strikes.

Finally, with a sickening crack, the female corpse's skull shatters under the force of Harry's hammer. He continues to hack and smash at her until he's completely exhausted and covered in blood and gore. The woman's face is unrecognizable, chopped and smashed beyond all recognition.

As he catches his breath, Harry watches the woman's face slowly slump down, lifeless at last.

Strangely enough, as the corpse fell, the surface of its body layer of white hair, but in the rapid convergence disappeared, like shrinking back into her skin, followed by Harry saw her that was gnawed away most of the flesh of the chest, there was a thumb-sized white ball emerged, the white ball surface hairy, as by countless white hair gathered together to form.

This white fluff sprouted from the chest of the female corpse, as if it had a mind of its own, and suddenly bounced up.

Harry's heart trembled, could it be that this female corpse could suddenly mutate, become mobile, and grow a layer of fluffy white hair? Was the real reason for all of this the white fluff in front of him? Was it the real culprit?

Looking at the white fluff bouncing up, Harry took the kitchen knife and tried to smash it to death.

At this moment, he suspected that the white fluff might be an unknown type of insect, which was most likely parasitic inside the female corpse.

With a "pop," the kitchen knife hit the chest of the female corpse, but the white fluff bounced much faster than he imagined. The knife missed, and suddenly there was a flash of white light in front of his eyes. The white fluff pounced on his face.

Harry felt an itch on his forehead, and suddenly realized that something was wrong. In a reflex, he swung his hand to his face. However, he hit nothing. He frantically searched around, but the white ball of fluff that he saw earlier was nowhere to be found.

"What happened? How did it disappear so suddenly?" Harry was stunned. Suddenly, a message appeared in his mind, as if a foreign memory had been inserted into his brain out of nowhere.

"Spirit Source: 1/5."

Unable to comprehend the message, Harry held his head in confusion. "What does 'Spirit Source' mean? And what does 1/5 signify?"

As he pondered on this, Harry felt a sudden surge of heat rising from his forehead. This warmth spread throughout his body, making him feel energized from head to toe. However, this feeling was as fleeting as it was sudden, disappearing as quickly as it emerged.

Despite the heat's sudden disappearance, Harry realized that something had changed within his body. The pain from his forehead injury had gone, and his arms, which had been sore and exhausted from his earlier attack on the female corpse with a knife and hammer, felt reinvigorated.

These sudden changes left Harry momentarily dumbfounded. However, he soon composed himself, realizing that the message that he had received in his mind was likely related to the white ball of fluff that had mysteriously disappeared/merged with his body.

"Perhaps this 'Spirit Source' is what the ball of fluff represents. It seems to have altered my physical condition, healing my forehead injury, easing my fatigue, and even increasing my strength." Harry swung his hammer with ease, realizing that his strength had indeed increased.
