The group arrived in Edoras and were greeted by King Théoden and his people. As Aragorn talked privately with King Théoden and his adviser Gríma Wormtongue, Legolas couldn't help but sneak off and indulge with his flask.
Gimli, meanwhile, couldn't keep his eyes off of Éowyn. He kept hitting on her at every opportunity, much to her amusement.
"Ah, come on, lassie. How about a little kiss for luck?" Gimli said, winking at Éowyn.
Éowyn chuckled and playfully pushed Gimli away. "Oh, Gimli. You are a charmer, but I'm afraid my heart belongs to another."
Gimli pouted and crossed his arms. "Never fall for a man till you’ve seen the size of his axe."
The door to King Théoden’s chambers opened and Aragorn entered the room. "Gimli, for heaven's sake. Are you hitting on Éowyn?"

"I'm just being friendly,” said Gimli.
Merry rolled his eyes. "Friendly, my foot. You're more interested in scoring a little action than in defeating Sauron."
Gimli opened his mouth to protest, but was interrupted by Legolas, who also stumbled into the room, drunk and giggling.
"Ah, there you all are. I've been looking for you. What's the plan, Aragorn?" Legolas slurred, swaying on his feet.
Aragorn couldn't take it anymore. He slammed his fist on the table and glared at Legolas. "Legolas, I can't believe you. How many fucking times do I have to tell you to stay sober on this mission? What the fuck is wrong with you?"
Legolas blinked, confused. "What are you talking about, Aragorn? I'm just having a little fun. It helps me relax."
Aragorn shook his head in disgust. "Legolas, this is not a game. People's lives are at stake here. And your reckless behavior is putting all of that in danger. I thought I could trust you to be a responsible member of this group, but clearly I was wrong."
Legolas hung his head, ashamed. "I'll do better, I swear it."
Aragorn sighed and rubbed his temples. "I hope so, Legolas. We need all the skilled warriors we can get in these dark times. I managed to free Théoden from Gríma’s grip on my own, but I’ll need everyone’s help to defeat Sauron. We have a lot of work to do."
