The next morning, Legolas woke up with a pounding headache and a mouth that tasted like old socks. He groaned and sat up, his head spinning.
Gimli, sitting comfortably at a nearby table, looked up and chuckled. "It looks like someone had a little too much to drink."
Legolas rubbed his temples. "Shut it, Gimli. I don't need your sarcasm right now."
Gimli chuckled a second time, a permanent grin stuck on his face. "Oh, I'm not being sarcastic. I'm just in a good mood. I got lucky with a lady last night."
Legolas gagged. "I swear to all that is holy, Gimli—if you don't shut up, I'm going to bash your head in."
Gimli threw his boots up on the table, leaned back in his chair, and paused. His eyes twinkled mischievously. He couldn’t resist continuing the banter.

"Ah, come on, Legolas. You can't be jealous of my love life. Besides, I'm just trying to cheer you up. That miruvor has you looking like death warmed over."
Legolas stood up slowly, clutching his stomach, then cautiously made his way over to Gimli. "I'm not jealous," he growled. "I'm just in a lot of fucking pain."
"Well if it's any consolation, I feel fucking amazing,” said Gimli. “A little bit of love is just what the doctor ordered. And who knows, maybe you'll find someone to ease your pain too."
Legolas groaned as he collapsed into a chair at the table. "I'm not interested in finding someone, Gimli. I just want to go back to bed and sleep for a week."
Just then, Aragorn stormed into the room. "Legolas! Gimli! Where the hell have you been? We must make plans for our next move. Helm's Deep has been saved, but we cannot rest on our laurels. King Théoden and the people of Rohan need our help in driving out Sauron's forces from the rest of the kingdom. We must ride to Edoras and join forces with the Rohirrim. Are we all clear on our mission?"
Legolas and Gimli nodded, their faces serious. "Yes, Aragorn," they said in unison.
Aragorn gave each man a pat on the shoulder. "Good. Then let's get to work. We have much to do and little time to do it."
