Chapter 6: The Ride to Edoras

Legolas, Gimli, and Aragorn set out for Edoras, their horses galloping across the rolling hills of Rohan. As they rode, Aragorn filled them in on the details of their mission.

"We are headed to Edoras to meet up with King Théoden and his people," Aragorn explained. "Our goal is to join with the Rohirrim and drive Sauron's forces out of the kingdom once and for all."

Gimli nodded. "Aye, we'll give those orcs a run for their money. They won't know what hit them."

Legolas, who was riding a little ways behind the others, took a swig from his flask and chuckled. "Piece of cake."

Aragorn turned in his saddle and looked back with a piercing glare. "I hope you’re not drinking again, Legolas. We cannot afford to have you incapacitated on this mission."

Legolas grinned and tucked his flask away. "Ah, don't worry. I'm sober enough. And besides, don’t we have bigger things to worry about?"

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Aragorn’s expression changed from anger to concern. His words carried a hint of worry. "Yes, well, we all need to be on alert when we meet with King Théoden. He is a wise and just leader, but he has been under the influence of Gríma Wormtongue for far too long. It is up to us to help him see the truth."

“Must we do this alone, or are there others?” asked Gimli.

Aragorn thought for a moment. "Well, there is Éowyn, Théoden's niece, who is a woman of course. Merry and Pippen should be there too. We’ll meet up with them and the warriors of Rohan, and together we’ll unite in the fight against Sauron."

Legolas grinned and charged his horse ahead faster. "It'll be good to be back in the thick of things! I can't wait to see what kind of trouble we can stir up in Edoras."

Aragorn let out a heavy sigh. "Legolas, please. Let's focus on our mission and not on causing trouble. We have a serious task ahead of us. We cannot afford any distractions."

"Yes, Aragorn. I understand,” said Legolas with an honest tone. “I'll behave."

As they approached Edoras, they could see the city in the distance, its golden halls shining in the sunlight.
