Chapter 20: Forest Trip(part 3)

Chapter 20: Forest Trip(part 3)

I wake up in the morning after sleeping on the ground. It wasn’t comfortable but not the worst place I could sleep.

My clothes are destroyed, I lost my water bags and I lost my lake. I need to find another source of water and now I also have to be on the lookout for drakes trying to ambush me.

I cook the meat of one of the drakes and drink as much blood as I can before leaving.

I walk for a few hours and find more peach trees. As I am beginning to climb this tree I look down for a moment and I am seeing something that instills fear in me. I see a baby earth drake walking towards the tree I am at, I begin to panic and shake the tree as much as I can to drop some peaches and run for my life as I pick only three of them. The baby drake stops to eat one of the peaches that I left behind but I make sure to run north as much as I can as fast as I can to be sure that baby is not following me. Right now I don’t want to fight a drake, much less an angry mom or dad drake.

As I am running north full speed I see something that makes my eyes shine with hope, there are at least fifteen wild boars just running around here. The drakes didn’t kill everything else here and are also living on fruit by what it looks like. I can eat something that isn’t drake meat in the future.

I follow these boars for a few hours where I find a pond with clean water and manage to see some drakes hunting them down. I only saw earth drakes all this time, I guess the other elemental ones are rare around here.

The boars are not really friendly but killing one of them in front of the others is enough to net me some peace as I make camp near this pond.

The first thing on the list is fixing my clothes. I strip down and see what I can use. Underwear is gone, shirt and jacket are in shreds so I am pretty much using nothing. Boots are the only thing that survived somewhat, it’s burned and slashed too much. Just removing the boots from my feet caused a lot of damage and putting it on again is not something that will happen. Everything that had a metal plate on it is not part of what I have left anymore so I pretty much have leather and cotton scraps.

Since I need to do something to hold things into place I make a makeshift panty by burning leather so I can hold my dick in place. I don’t want it to go flapping around as I move. Next thing I make is a makeshift belt with the rest of the leather to hold my boobs. I put my new underwear on and tie it a little on the sides so it doesn’t fall off, I then put the belt around my chest and tie a knot on the front. The belt is holding things into place, covering my nipples and probably can take some stress. All things are good enough for now.

I check the pond to see if there are any water drakes on it or anything else but there is nothing alive there but what I found was a surprise. The pond goes down a lot. I probably could swin 100 meters down and not reach the bottom by what it looks like. Now knowing that this isn’t just a little pond with some water in it I can actually stay here and focus on what to do.

For the rest of the year, all the way until the month of Aries I stay in this place training. There are a lot of boars in this part of the forest so at some point at least one always appears near here so I don’t need to go hunting. Drakes are also not attacking me too much. I occasionally have to go around and scare them as they won’t fight me to the death anymore. If I reach just close enough they run and don’t come back… I think. They all look almost the same, but I am pretty sure that I don’t see the same drake again.

During all this time I figured out how to do some more things with my magic as well what my limit is. If I just use the heat barrier, I can maintain it for a little more than an hour if I was able to count the time right. Speaking of that spell I created variations of it. The Heat Barrier - Explosive, Heat Barrier - Flamethrower, Heat Barrier - Counter and Heat Barrier - Incinerate.

The first two were the ones I used against the four elemental drakes before. The counter one will only activate if someone touches my skin creating a focused explosion to repel the impact of any hit against me as it is hitting me and the Incinerate will try to burn something until it’s just ashes if it reaches it. The last one cost a lot of mana, I can only maintain it for 10 minutes more or less.

I tried my luck using spells with my sabers but they heat too much but I can now set Mira on fire if needed as she doesn’t heat up no matter what I do if she is in my hand. I can also generate various Razor Flames in succession.

I also managed to find a use for thunder magic. I can use a thunder spell to reduce the lag between my brain and muscle as well as making my body go faster. If I heal myself with flames as this goes on I don’t get injured, but I do get tired if I do this a lot. I don’t know the limit of this as I didn’t test it beyond a few minutes at most.

With the drakes now ignoring or running from me I resume my journey north. This time with a big bag made out of the skin of those boars. Took a while to clean and melt it all together without it burning to ashes.

As I go north for a few days I enter an area not described in any book I ever read. As soon as I walk past a tree, a rune appears where I stand and I begin to feel a curse trying to suck my life out of me.

Unluckily to whoever made this I can absorb this curse with Mira and I do by slashing the rune making it disappear and Mira glow a little as it absorbs the curse.

“Beautiful, now we only need to find a way to identify what you absorb.” I say to Mira.

“ “ She responds to me.

“I don’t think there is a spell I can use or create to identify curses and blessings. I can’t even create curses, much less just identify random ones.”

“ “ She explains to me.

“You make a good point, but I don’t have an affinity for that.”

With this we continue on our way where a lot of runes start to try to curse me but every time I absorb it with Mira.

After a few days walking I reach some type of ruin. There are some pillars made of white marble that are somewhat destroyed near walls made of the same material. As I investigate these ruins I hear a voice.

“Who dares to disrupt my slumber!” A voice shouts from the distance.

“The mailman, I need to pass through here to make a delivery, sorry if woke you up, I will be gone in five minutes.” I shout back.

For a few seconds there is silence as I continue to walk north since I have no interest in what these ruins are, I was just taking a look since they were in the way.

As I proceed north, from the trees, a white and black drake appears. The black one has scales that shine like the most beautiful onyx you will ever see. The white one has white scales that shine brightly if the sun hits them creating a rainbow around her. Their entire bodies are covered in scales and they don’t look like thin scales. These two are the most dragon like drakes I saw.

“Look, I don’t want to fight, I didn’t even want to be here.” I say to those two expecting them to pounce at me at any moment.

“If what you speak is true, why did you kill our brothers and sisters?” The white drake asks me in a very feminine voice.

“... At least one of you speaking is not a surprise at this point. And to answer your question, I need to go north and they were not letting me go north.”

“Why do you want to go north? The humans have nests in the south where you came from. You should be going that way.” The black drake says to me in a masculine and furious voice.

“I am banned from ever going there or me and a lot of people will die.” I say somewhat sad.

“And what did you do for you to be banned from your own kin?” The white drake asks me.

“I was born.”

They both stay in silence for a few seconds.

“You humans are worse than the worst monsters sometimes. But you being banished from your pack does not mean we will let you kill our kin just because you want to.”

“I never wanted to fight any of you. I actually like all of you. You are related to dragons right? Dragons are cool.” I say fangirling a little.

“Indeed, some dragons are very cool. Ice dragons generate ice just by existing.” The white drake says.

“That was not exactly what I meant but it’s near enough. Look, I just want to go north to the next human city and never come back here ever again if I can. If you can tell all of your kin to just leave me alone I will only hunt other animals for food and ignore all of you back.”

“And what makes you think we will believe the word of a human?” The black drake says to me in a threatening voice.

“I am not with any of my blades in hand and I didn’t attack you both when you two showed up even knowing that you two probably are why these runes are trying to kill me.”

“We are not the cause of this, we are just here to prevent our kin from falling into this trap by the order of mother.” The white dragon explains to me.

“May I ask what is the cause of this?”

“Like we will tell you. If you find out you will probably try to put the entire forest in the same state.” The black drake says to me.

“I don’t think I am capable of doing anything like that.”

“The human female speaks the truth. She has no power to make the others weak like this curse does, I can sense it.”

“Thanks.”

“Ok human, let’s say I believe in you. Even if we show you the source of this place, what do you plan to do?” The black drake asks me.

“I don’t know. Do you want me to deal with it or leave things as they are? I really don’t care as long as I can continue my journey.”

The two drakes leave me and go into the forest, probably to talk just themselves. A few minutes later they come back.

“We decided to guide you to the source of this and ask that you shall end it if possible.”

“And we will kill you if you try anything against us.”

“Sure, just don’t try to kill me from behind.” I say.

They guide me through the trees going a little to the west while still going north until we reach a place with no trees and just grass for at least a hundred meters. As I enter this area there are two other drakes there. Another black and another white one.

“You deal with them. This is as far as we can go.” The first white drake tells me. The black one just stays in the tree line.

I start to carry Mira with my right hand just in case as I approach the two new drakes.

“Human, are you here for our power?” The two drakes speak in perfect harmony, like they have just one voice. I can’t even tell which one is the male or the female.

“Depends on what you mean. The other two back there in the forest asked me to make you two stop using those draining runes on everyone that enters here.”

“So you are here for our lives?” They ask me again.

“Only if that is the only way.”

“We are bound and cursed to this place by our master to protect this cursed land until he returns.”

“If that is the case I can free you two if you can take some damage.”

“Then you are after our lives after all” They say while getting ready to fight.

“Hey wait! Mira, the sword in my hand can absorb curses of what it cuts.” I shout in panic.

“If what you speak is true then free us. We did not choose our master, we are only bound to his will.”

“Then prepare yourselves. Don’t worry I can heal both of you after it.”

The drakes stay in silence as I get near then and prepare a slash on their back as it is the most protected place in their bodies.

I prepare Mira to start to absorb any curse she can as I slash both of them alternating. I cast my Healing Flame on them to heal any injury I am causing.

“Tell me when you are free as I can’t tell.” I tell them while continuing.

A few minutes later they dodge by themselves my random slashes on them and turn to me. I stop swinging my sword as the other two drakes also approach.

“You truly saved us even if we are not your kin.” The second black drake says to me in a very sexy female voice.

“I didn’t think the day a human wouldn’t try to kill me on sight would come.” The second white drake says in a very masculine and gentlemanly voice.

“So how does this thing even work? You two stand here and a rune appears on anything that is not like the both of you?”

“Huh! You humans use rune magic, how should we know. You probably want to know so you can use it yourself.” The male black drake says to me.

“I can’t even use runes anymore, what are you talking about?”

“She speaks the truth. No rune was used in that healing fire cast upon us.” The male white drake tells.

“You fulfilled your part of the contract, what do you wish in return before we leave this place as it is not our home.” The female white drake asks.

“Can you tell the other drakes to not attack or hunt me? I like to fight as much as the next guy but you are just too good in groups and I am alone.”

“That will not be possible. Our kin in this forest is not smart enough to understand words like we do.” The black female drake says.

I guess being a white and black drake makes you smarter or with enough time, drakes can become this smart to be able to talk.

“If you fear us so much there is one thing we can do. Put the two smaller blades you have on the ground.”

I just comply by putting my sabers into the ground in front of them.

The drakes look at each other and then begin to bite the scales of each other off until one of each falls off. Two scales of one color are put into each saber. Then the drakes burn the scales with an elemental continuous fire breath merging the scales with the sabers making them change shape and color. They became black and white respectively and with thicker blades as well a more draconic look that is hard to describe.

“These blades will irradiate our energy from now on. Any of our kin stupid enough to fight you deserves to die if they don’t sense our energy or ignore it.”

“Thanks, they are really beautiful. But where will all four of you go now?”

“Home, it’s been too long, Mother is waiting.” The white male drake says.

Without even a goodbye they turn their backs to me and start to run east so fast that even at max speed I probably couldn’t follow them. Good thing they didn’t fight me, I would probably have to resort to exploding everything again to win.

I don’t know exactly how this curse works at all but looks like it needs someone or something to act as a mana battery for it. As I walk north the runes stop appearing so I guess everything is ok. I wonder how big is the area of effect of that thing.

My journey continues as it is for a month. Drakes that get near me just run away after a few seconds. If not for the fact that I still have to survive the forest itself, this journey would become easy now. Let’s hope nothing comes after me.
