Chapter 19: Forest Trip(part2)

Chapter 19: Forest Trip(part2)

I wake up a few hours after noon from my power nap. I cook some meat and prepare myself for the battle I am about to do. Today I will win against that drake, not that we fought again after he almost killed me, but that is besides the point.

If possible I will try to not kill those creatures, they are smart enough to fight with their brains not just muscle their way through things. If I knew drakes where that smart I would not have started a fight in the first place, nowhere in the books is explained how smart a drake is, just that they are not really that strong if compared to a lot of things. If I had to put them in a scale from F-rank do S-Rank, they would be C-rank in power, but definitely an A-Rank in brains.

After eating and preparing myself mentally I go back north to where I saw that drake again.

As I reach the area full of destroyed trees he shows up again.

“Hey, I don’t want to kill you. Let me pass and you may live.” I shout to the earth drake in front of me.

He responds by throwing a stone spike at me without warning. I use Mira to destroy it completely. I can now hit pretty much anything while circulating my mana with Mira in my hand as her power goes from 10 to 10000 just with the amount of mana circulating at high speeds. The thing is I can’t circulate at the fastest velocity I can because it requires too much concentration.

“See? I am not the same person I was two months ago.” I shout again to the drake. There is no way this thing can’t understand even a little of what I am saying.

The drake, by what it looks like, is ready to get serious. All this time he was really calm, with a relaxed stance. Now he is tense and ready for anything. I put my guard up and he starts again.

He opens his mouth and roars at me, creating various giant stone spikes bigger than me but fewer in number than the machine gun he used months earlier, six in total, throwing all of them at me.

“Nova Blast!” I shout while putting my left fist forward and opening it creating a small fireball, the size of a tennis ball, with the appearance of a mini-sun that explodes and literally consumes the air in 2 meter diameter of the center of the ball.

With that the spikes miss and I can feel for a second the vacuum I created being filled again with air.

The drake then starts to slowly walk to the sides probably trying to circulate around me. I gave it all the chances I could now it’s time for me to get serious. I start to circulate my mana as fast as I can while still being able to move and forcing all the muscles I can at once and releasing them after a moment.

“Heat Barrier!” I shout as I do that. Naming things makes it easier to remember what I did later. If I do this enough maybe someday only using the name will be enough.

The spell I just used created a light barrier of heat, almost invisible to the naked eye that will ignite anything that is not me or the natural air around me.

I then run toward the drake where I plan to take this to close combat as I have no idea how much mana anything costs now as I don’t feel like I am using mana at all.

As I close in, the drake tries to erect a stone wall in front of him but I just cut it along with part of its body. It’s not a deep cut by any means, and not the castle destroying explosion I could do before but the cut definitely was really strong. These things scales are said to be one of the hardest things around. If their entire body was covered with it, killing them would be almost impossible. Unluckily for him he only has scales in the upper half of this body so I managed to cut his lower half a little.

With a cut in him he begins to charge with its claws like a wolf. As soon as he reaches the area of my barrier he is blown away. I probably exaggerated on what I wanted here. It looked like I detonated dynamite point blank at him. I take a second to remove the explosion part of the barrier, putting the instruction to only shoot fire like a flamethrower. The image of this is not clear in my head but I hope it’s enough.

I then quickly run towards the drake while it is down and try to focus a little more mana on Mira. It looks like it increased its power a title more than normal, so I can probably increase its strength like before but without the use of runes if I concentrate on the sword the same way I would do with a spell. I cut the drake’s head clean and cut the claws and tail before stabbing him in the body a few times just to be sure.

I look around to see and sense if there anything else here, but when I find out there is nothing I do my victory scream.

“YES! I WON! SUCK IT NATURE!”

“ “ Mira says, teasing me.

“Yes, of course, we won together.” I say apologetic.

I then take the body of the drake with me to my camp so I can get it’s magic crystal and see if it tastes better than almost everything I have been eating. I swear that If I find a salt stone somewhere I am taking it with me no matter what.

At the camp I try what I can with the body but cleaning it will be impossible. I can’t cut the parts I would like to separate with my saber and using Mira will only destroy the body even more. With all that I just Cut it in pieces until I find a small magic crystal near where a heart would probably be. I destroyed almost every internal organ looking for this, I can’t really differentiate blood meat number 1 from blood meat number 2. I also try to cook some of it’s flesh but it was awful. The blood at least is useful for something. You can drink it like water. It tastes a little funny but it will not spoil like water if you leave it for too long. I take a little meat so I have something to eat and bury the rest near a tree so the ground can get some nutrients. After that I go back and start to meditate before sleeping.

When I wake up I start to process ideas to train my new powers. I take a bath in the pond. Usually I would just wait to dry up as this forest is really hot, but now I am gonna try something very slowly. I circulate my mana as much as I can and concentrate on my skin. I feel every drop of water in my body.

I close my hands into fists and as I open them I think about making the H2O molecules outside my body vibrate at high speed generating heat. As I do that a wave of heat goes from my body to my surroundings heating the water even in the air instantly ,for about a meter, creating a little bit of steam.

“Huh! It worked.” I say to myself.

After some ideas came to my mind, I clean all my gear as I can just dry it up in a second. It has been really hard to not bathe or clean my clothes everyday. Now that is not a problem anymore. In the worst case I can probably clean myself with fire if I train more.

After dressing up again I try to use thunder magic for the first time. I go to a tree trunk near me and concentrate on what a thunder would be here. As far as I remember thunders, or more specifically lightning, is electrical energy that itself is the electrical attraction or repulsion of particles with energy. To create a spark you need to imbalance those two forces so a spark is created.

I crackle my finger and think about a small spark forming and hitting the tree trunk in front of me. As I do that I am literally shocked by my own spell.

“AWAH!” I scream for a second.

I probably shouldn’t try to summon sparks from my body. I will try something else. I move a little back and put my right hand up. As I circulate my mana and slam the air as if I was slamming a table with my hand I think about a lightning bolt appearing a few meters from me and hitting the ground. Another spark form in my hand and I am shocked again.

I guess thunder magic is unusable for now. Every fire spell I use has me as an origin for it. I also know how heat works so I can make the heat near me non-existent while the spell is near me. I have no idea how electricity works to this level so I guess I have to leave it for now.

I return back to camp and sit down for a while. As I do that I notice that my clothes are starting to feel a little too tight. I probably grew more than what this gear was made to handle. I will not go around naked for now as I can still use this but in a few months I probably need to find new clothes.

After taking a breather I decide to prepare to go north again. I fill all my alligator bags with water and move north to the area where I fought the drake. For a few days I encountered nothing alive, well, except trees. Fruits are appearing again. Some peaches and mango trees are found from time to time.

The sun is going down and I finally found another lake. I do some scouting and find nothing so I move near the lake. It was a big mistake. As soon as I start to check the water a water drake appears and try to bite my hand off. If it wasn't for the heat barrier I would have lost it.

I take my swords and put my guard up and the drake goes to the surface of the lake and just stands there, like it is ground. Unlike the earth drake that is pretty much a dragon without wings the water drake looks like it is made of water but maintains the same form. When it is outside the water you can differentiate one from another as it’s watery skin is a really beautiful blue. Probably some kind of illusion using it’s scales.

Not a second after I looked at him, It shoots water balls at me the size of a soccer ball. I focus on the heat barrier so when the balls hit they just evaporate.

I can’t go into a melee with that drake in the water and I won't evaporate the lake just to fight it. I try running away from the lake a little bit but as soon as I look back there is a fucking giant wall of stone and dirt a few meters behind me with a earth drake on top of it.

“Fuck!” I say to myself again.

I start to run full speed to my right relying on the heat barrier to stop the attack of those two. But then as I run just a few meters trying to leave the area of the lake I hear the roar of another drake. I mount my guard instantly as a sharp wind passes through me, cutting part of my legs and arms as well my clothes but nothing serious, just some superficial cuts. As I look up I see a third fucking drake. A wind drake. It’s body is a light green, its scales shine like emeralds, it’s body has a greenish skin with just a little fur. It is standing on the air using a spell.

“Great now there are three of you. One more and the party is complete.” I say to the wind drake above me and like a clockwork a fireball is shot at me from the direction I came from. A fire drake appears. This one is just your typical dragon without wings. Out of all the drakes this one is the only one that has a fully scaled body. The downside to that is that all his scales are thinner than the others.

This is not a coincidence. They are coordinating too well for this to be just bad luck on my part. For a second all of them just close a little on me without attacking. At this point I have to fight at least one of them head on. I choose the fire drake as he is the only one my heat barrier will not work on, probably.

I run full speed towards him and prepare to slash him in half with Mira but as soon as I reach him the earth drake creates a wall between me and him. The wall doesn’t stop me but gives the fire drake enough time to dodge. The fire drake then leaps on me going for my head where I duck and as I try to stab him from below but the wind drake uses a spell that creates a super strong gust of wind that throws me near the water where the water drake throws a magic wave of water on me. If not for the heat barrier I would have drowned with all the water I was in. When all the water I was in is gone I am in the wall that the earth drake made.

“You know, all of you are too good at working together for this to be a coincidence. Were you stalking me?” I say to them expecting nothing.

They just repositioned themselves and are looking at me. As I try to move again they all blast me with elemental shots making me break the stone wall and damaging me in the process somehow. I have some bruises and a cut in my arm.

I try a spell while they are not on top of me. I use fire to cauterize my wounds but also think of the fire being generated on the wound as just energy that is being absorbed by my body speeding it’s recovery process. It works. I can heal myself if I am able to burn myself.

I stand up and put my guard up and stop using the heat barrier. It’s not doing damage, it’s not protecting me as much as I want. And is probably using a lot of mana, even if use less mana this way for spells. This will not work until all of them are on my level or I get on level equal to all of them combined.

As I go back to the hole I made the drakes are dispersed again. I need to take care of the wind one first. I will start to ignore my surroundings, If I don’t I won’t survive this.

“Listen up you oversized lizards. This forest will burn and it will be your fault.” I shout to them.

They respond by shooting spells at me again. I begin to run again at the direction of the wind drake and as all their spells are reaching me I charge Mira with mana and begin to use a spell with her as the catalyst.

“Razor Flame!” I shout as I cut the air with an upward slash generating a flame in the shape of a blade that hits the wind drake making it fall to the ground. The other spells hit me but I just try to ignore the pain.

“Inferno!” I shout again as I punch the ground with all my force putting as much mana as I can in this spell in the short amount of time I had.

Not even a second later flames as far as I can see are consuming everything around me, even the water. It’s a literal hell around me. The wind drake got hit the most and is pretty much cooked already. The earth drake also got pretty burned. The water drake lost the water and used a lot of magic to protect itself. The fire drake is not immune to fire so it took a little damage. All of them are more serious now than before.

The wind is the first. He comes full speed towards me using a similar spell to the speed spell that Arnold uses. I start to heal myself and use my remaining hand to put Mira in front of me where the drake will have to go. He stops just before hitting Mira but that is what I was waiting for. The other drakes can’t reach me in time, I use my magic string to impale the wind drake from below as it stops. I then use a spell sending it from me to the swords linked by the magic string just a meter away from me inside the wind drake.

“Nova Blast!” I create a fire, air consuming, ball inside the drake that explodes the second it hits him sending even some bits to me. The other drakes stop for a second what gives me time to create a heat wave around me to blow away all the bits of the wind drake on me and put my guard up again. The next one is the earth drake.

The water and fire drake are just shooting elemental balls at me. At this point I say screw it and put a big fire around me that will heal me as long as I have mana left. I run towards the drake and it also goes straight to me. He creates some kind of stone armor around himself as he runs towards me.

When we reach the range of each other he just tries to headbutt me but I parry him by trying to cut him with Mira. The stone armor is strong but just one hit made it crack a lot. I then begin a close combat fight with this thing.

He uses his left claw to try to cut my chest and succeeds a little, he manages to cut my gear and shirt making my tits show as I dodge making a little jump back. I take this moment to reverse all my momentum putting all my strength in a downward slash straight into the drake’s head.

“Razor Flame!” I shout again as I hit him. The armor protects him a little but I cut his head open as a barrage of water and fire balls hit me. Two to go.

I create an explosion behind me to send me flying forward towards the water drake as it has not really moved all this time. The healing does its thing and unfuck me a little as I fall head first into the ground before I am able to stand up. The water drake is not stopping but it’s in vain. As I reach him with just a few steps he doesn’t even move as he is using spells non stop. I charge Mira and cut him in one go. It doesn’t even feel like I cut something. He is really physically weak as it looks like.

The fire drake is the only one left. I look at him and he stops to shoot fireballs at me. I also stop the healing flame on me.

“Only you and me now.”

He starts to run towards me, probably looking for a melee. I could try to blast him away somehow but my instincts are telling me that I am almost out of mana. So I also run towards him.

As we reach one another he starts to get on fire. As I hit him with Mira on the head he isn’t cut and we are thrown back a little from each other. We charge again but this time he leaps forwards using his frontal claws. I use Mira to parry the slash as he leaps to my right and try to slash him again just putting some force into Mira during the parry but the drake isn’t cut again.

As we position ourselves again he jumps back a few meters. I prepare to follow him when he starts to run towards me again and jump doing a flip forward and not stopping. In the middle of the air he becomes a flaming wheel that is going really fast in my direction. I use my magic string to stab my two saber in the ground just behind my ankles to get some support and as he is near me I charge Mira yet again going for a homerun as I swing her into the wheel. If not for the sabers I would be now going backwards but they are holding up. My clothes on the other hand not so much. As he spins while I try to deflect him, the heat he is generating is burning everything around us. I am using my own fire to protect my skin but my clothes are not holding up. I put all the mana I have left into making an explosion just behind my sword to increase the power of my swing.

I do that and I manage to send the drake flying back cutting him in the process. There is quite the pile of blood near me.

As I look in the direction I deflected him I see him almost falling down due to a cut in his neck. He starts to limp towards me still trying to fight. I pretty much do the same as I am exhausted too. He musters all the strength he can and leaps one more time at me trying to bite me. I put all the strength I can into an upward slash with Mira where I hit him in the chin, breaking his neck and killing him before he falls just to my side.

I take a second to breathe and look around.

“We did it. We fucking did it.” I say to Mira while kneeling on the burned ground.

The fire I started is mostly under control, the water drake eliminated almost all of it while protecting itself. There are only a few pieces of grass that survive that are burning now. If anything happens I can probably try to control the flames.

I look at the state of my clothes. It’s just leather strips now and thin sheets of metal. Since I can’t do anything about this now, let’s survive first. All my bags were either burned or sent somewhere I can’t find them so if I want water I need to have it available. Well not for now, but later.

I grab all the corpses I can and move to a less burned area so I can rest and drink the blood of these drakes while eating their flesh to recover my energy.

After all that I go to sleep as fast as I can so I am able to use all my resources before they spoil. I wonder what I will do from now on as I don't think I will be able to make new bags.
