Chapter 8: Siblings

Chapter 8: Siblings

"Hey, what's up, bro? How's work going?" Amy asked.

"Oh, hey sis. You know, paper work, paper work, and even more fucking paper work! Why do I have to do all of this shit anyway?! I wish I could get back out in the field again, see some action, ya know? Being a director sucks!" Ben ranted.

Late in the evening, after Cindy's first assignment had come to an end, the two siblings, Amy and Ben, conversed in the latter's office. Exhausted after a long day's work, Ben had black bags under his eyes. Amy had the same chipper attitude as usual, even after a grueling long day in the office. Ever since the two siblings met, Ben noticed that it was extremely hard to ever really phase the young elf. Proud and ever brazen, Amy would always face any challenge with an overly cocky attitude. Ben, on the other hand, was more calm and relaxed. A desk full of paperwork was enough to drive the man mad, however. The lax man would much rather be drinking or goofing off by now. Although they adjusted rather quickly to their roles as directors, Ben and Amy both knew that their hearts really belonged wherever action and danger lied.

"Oh yeah, I totally feel you. I'm really itching to get back out there myself. It's been sooo long! My skills are getting dull! Oh, how I envy those new young recruits, taking up all the glory out there," Amy said jealously.

"Ah, don't remind me how lucky those guys are! By the way, how did Kai's job go?"

"Hm, he passed, I guess. Still a bit of an idiot, though. How about Cindy?"

"Well, she got the job done, I'd say. Saved a kid's life in the process as well. She did require a bit of...assistance disposing of the corpse, however. Eh, she passed too!" Ben said.

"There you go again, always being the nice guy. Disgusting. She'd totally get a fail from me!"

"Ahaha, come on now, Amy. Little Cindy ended up saving a life in the process. She's a very sweet girl."

"Oh, who cares about some dumb brat she saved. An efficient kill is what matters most! But you're right...she's sweet...too sweet. Do you think she can take it? Maybe I pushed her too far...aarrgh, now I'm feeling bad! How's she doing?" Amy asked.

"Oh, she's doing just fine! A bit of head trauma is all. The doctor said she'd be A-OK!"

"Ah, that's good to hear at least. So, what should we do to welcome our newest assassins? A little party perhaps?"

"Oh my, that sounds fabulous, sis! Let's get these young guys hammered and make them tell us embarrassing stories, ahaha!"

"Wow, that's so evil brother...let's do it!! Hahaha!"

"Now what the hell are you chaps so giddy about?" A woman's voice said, while entering Ben's office. "Slacking off as usual, I see," She said with a smile on her face.

"Aria, you're back! How was your trip?!" Amy shouted, while running up to hug her sister.

Aria, the sister of Amy and Ben, as well as the third director of The Fam, had just returned from a charity mission in her home country of Ghany. Speaking in a very proper accent, the twenty eight-year-old woman was overjoyed to see her siblings again, after being away for so long.

"Wonderful, my dear! It always warms my heart, giving back to the motherland. Oh, you should've seen the look on the children's faces when I gave them their very own game consoles. Everyone was so grateful for all the food and water we gave them, too! You must surely come with me next time," Aria said, while twisting her curly hair.

"Sounds like you had fun, ahaha," Ben said.

"Oh hello dear brother. Why yes, it was quite marvelous! You must catch me up on what's happened while I was away. Do we have any new recruits?"

"Well, we did. We just had two cute little recruits pass their assignments with flying colors! Oh, how they grow up so fast! -sniff," Ben said dramatically.

"Wonderful! I must make their acquaintance soon."

"Yeah, we were just planning a party for them before you rudely interrupted!" Amy said, sarcastically.

"You're still a little brat, I see," Aria said, while patting Amy on the head. "By the way, I did bring back a wonderful souvenir for ourselves to enjoy!" Aria said while reaching into her bag.

"N-n-no way! Is that really authentic Ghanyian whiskey? Sis, you always come through when we need you the most! Let's open this bad boy up right now!" Ben said enthusiastically.

"Wow, this must've cost a fortune, Aria. You shouldn't have! I'm still drinking it though, of course... Hurry up, hurry up! Open the damn bottle already!" Amy demanded.

"Relax, relax, my dears. It's not going anywhere!" Aria said.

The three siblings, reunited for the first time in months, drank throughout the night, conversing on various topics. Amy and Ben bragged, as well as poked fun of the new recruits. Aria continued to go on about her trip to her home country. The three were very close and were almost inseparable once they were in the same room together. They went on and on for hours about the smallest of topics, laughing and giggling like they were children again.

"And then I said, 'Ift you fuck up again, you're going to the gallery!' ahahaha. What an idiot," Amy said, drunkenly slurring her words.

"Ahaha, it sounds like you like this Kai chap quite a lot, sister. I'm glad you've been having so much fun. I missed quite a bit, it seems like!" Aria said, while knocking back a shot of whiskey.

"She does like teasing little Kai! I do too, but you could ease up on him just a little bit, Amy. Makes me think Aria is right. Are you into Kai?" Ben said, covering his mouth.

"J-just shut up already! No, I don't. End of subject!"

"Yeah, she's totally into him! I'm telling him tomorrow!" Ben teased.

"Urgh, believe what you want! Anyways, I hate to be a buzzkill, but...lady Elanor will be coming soon to see our new assassins," Amy groaned.

"Yeah," Ben said calmly.

"I don't trust that woman, not one bit. Father should've never agreed to partner with that witch. She'll stab him in the back one day, I swear it," Aria said angrily.

The room fell quiet for a minute. The sounds of cars driving through the night were clearly heard through the office as the three siblings continued to talk.

"I agree, sis, but look where we're at now. We have all the money we could ever ask for, a nice cozy job...everything's so great. We have each other...our family," Amy said sadly.

"Everything is lovely sister, I agree, but how long do you think that will last, until the princess gets bored with us?" Aria remarked.

"That won't happen...and even if it does, daddy will always protect us no matter what! He's unstoppable, in case you forgot!" Amy said.

"And where is father now? Still gallivanting all over the world without a care? He's hardly even been here since we started this business!" Aria exclaimed.

"Now calm down, Aria. You know dad will always be there for us. No need to exaggerate. We're all big boys and girls here. We'll continue to oversee things while dad's out having fun. We'll keep a close eye on lady Elanor as well...maybe that's enough booze for tonight," Ben said calmly.

"Perhaps I may have had too much to drink, dear brother, you're right. The point still remains, however. We must stay alert and keep a watchful eye of things. I will not let this family become undone by that woman!" Aria said.

"We will," Ben replied. "We will."
