Chapter 12: Training Day [Part 1]

A rigorous training course had just begun for the two newest assassins, Cindy and Kai. Fresh off receiving their shiny new licenses, instead of a new mission or contract to carry out, they were met with a mixed-race man named Theodore; who was ordered to train the young duo until they were nearly dead. After changing into a more comfortable set of clothes, the fresh blood made their way to the first floor of headquarters to begin their training.

"You're late!!!" Theodore said.

"What the hell do you mean, I'm late? You told us to get changed, then I came right down!" yelled Kai.

"Tardiness is unacceptable! Simply unacceptable! Drop and give me twenty push-ups, recruit!"

"Hey, I'm no recruit anymore! I just got my license tod-,"

"Twenty push-ups, now!" screamed Theodore.

"Yes Sir! One, two, three...,"

"Ah, there you are, Miss Cindy. Drop and give me twenty, as well! Tardy, tardy, tardy! You lot will never become proper assassins if you keep this up!!!"

"Uh, what? Um, ok! One, two, three...," Cindy said.

"Stooooop! Ten miles! Give me ten miles around the city right now!"

"Huuuuh? You can't be serious, man! I'm not running ten mil-,"

"Goooo! If you stop, you're fired! I'm going on ahead!"

The old, but spry Theodore took off in a flash, leaving a trail of dust behind in the young duo's faces.

"He can't be serious, right, Cindy? I mean, I'm in shape and all, but god-damn! Ten miles is a lot."

"Well, it looks like we don't have much of a choice... Let's go, Kai!"

Cindy took off in a flash. Kai followed soon after to begin their arduous journey.

"C-Cindy! Wait up!"

The two young assassins ran ten miles throughout downtown Baldimore. Passing city-goers bustling through the town. The weather wasn't too hot, so that was a plus. The view was nice as well. Though very exhausted by the end of their run, the youths gained a newfound respect for the city, after viewing it through their run, taking in the amazing architecture and designs in flashes.

"H-holy shit, I think I'm gonna die!" Kai screamed.

"I-I'm not feeling so good. I'm gonna pu- arrrrgh!" Cindy yelled, hurling up her morning breakfast.

"Disgusting! Where's your dignity, young lady? Absolutely, positively atrocious! You're not done yet, however! Here, take these!" Theodore said, pulling out ankle and wrist weights from his bag.

"The fuck is that? Weights? What do you want us to do with those? Kai asked.

"Strap them to your feet and give me another twenty miles, of course!"

"Twenty? We did fucking ten last time! You people really are trying to kill us!"

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

"Twenty miles, right now! No breaks! Let's go!" screamed Theodore as he took off once more.

"I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die!" Cindy yelled, trying her best to keep pace.

After running for several hours without rest, the duo was on the verge of collapse. However, training still went on as sunset crept in. After making several laps around the city, they finally ended their last run back at headquarters again.

"Marvelous job, my young students! You kept up quite well! I think you've earned yourselves a quick water break! Grab some refreshments and meet me on the fourth floor of headquarters in ten minutes! It's time to hit the gym!" Theodore said.

"Uhhhh," Cindy and Kai moaned in unison, trying their best to remain conscious.

On the fifth floor of headquarters, the duo met Theodore in the gym for more training. At their wits end, they tried their best to endure a while longer. They would surely collapse, however, for their bodies were not prepared for this rigorous training.

"Alright! Time for some weight training! Squats, pull-ups, sit-ups, bench presses, push-ups! Go go go! What are you waiting for?!"

"Uh, uh... I can't...uhhh.... Yes sir," Cindy said, starting to see stars from her exhaustion.

The two continued to endure the harsh trainings of Theodore. Completing one hundred reps of push-ups, sit-ups, fifty pound bench presses, squats, and pull-ups, the young squad five was on the brink of collapse.

"I-I can't do anymore," Cindy said, as she did her last rep on the bench press. "I-I'm sooo drained! I want my mama. Waaaah!" She cried, tears building up on her eyelids.

"Come on Cindy, one more. You got this," Kai said, encouraging the half-elf.

"O-one hundred!!!" Cindy screamed. "Hah, hah, hah," she panted, completely out of breath. "It's finally over."

"Over? What possibly could you mean, Madam Cindy? It's dinner time, yes, but after that awaits more training!!! We shall go to the cafeteria for a quick fifteen-minute supper, then we will meet back on the fifth floor, on the sparring grounds!" Theodore said.

Fuck this shit!

After the exhausted duo had a quick dinner, it was back to training for the young assassins. Already beyond their limits, their bodies breaking down and barely conscious, training continued for Kai and Cindy late into the night.

"Ok! Who's up for a little game?" said Theodore.

"Game? I can barely even move my body!" Kai said.

"M-mr. Theodore, please! We really can't take anymore," Cindy said.

"Nonsense!" Theodore said. "After how much Madam Amy and Sir Ben bragged about you as well. Such a disappointment, that you can't even handle this much!"

"T-they bragged about us?" Cindy asked.

"All they ever do ease tease and make fun of us! That's bull-shit, you're lying!" Kai said.

"Oh, but it is the truth indeed, my friends. They couldn't stop talking about your untapped potential! Show me, now! Show me what my niece and nephew saw in you two! Surely they weren't lying to me, I know that for a fact. Now, here is the game," Theodore said, grabbing a volleyball from the floor. "Try to take this ball from me by any means necessary. You can punch, kick, use weapons, whatever you like. The game will not end until you retrieve it, however. If you can't get the ball from me come sunrise, all you get is a one-hour nap break, then we'll repeat everything we did today! Your training ends when you can finally take this ball from me. Sounds easy enough rig-,"

Before Theodore could finish his sentence, a flurry of gunshots were fired at him. The nimble, elderly man, dodged every single one of them with ease.

"K-kai! What are you doing?! Y-you're really trying to kill him!" Cindy said.

"Who gives a shit about this old man! I'm tired of this! He said we can get the ball by any means necessary, right? Well, that includes a bullet to the face, too!"

"Now, that's the resolve I like to see, young Kai! Oh, how it warms my heart!" Theodore said, immediately moving to gain distance between himself and Kai. In a matter of seconds, the old man appeared right in front of Kai before palming his head, and slamming it into the ground. "Not bad at all."

"Ugh...uhh," Kai groaned, before passing out.

"K-kai!!" Cindy screamed.

"Don't worry, don't worry. The boy's not dead. He'll be up soon....probably. How about you, Miss Cindy? Are you ready to get serious?" Theodore asked.

"I-I'm ready! Take this!" Cindy yelled, throwing a barrage of punches with her right, mechanical arm. Theodore dodged each of them with ease, however, leaving the half-elf dumbfounded.

H-how in the hell is this guy moving so fast. This shouldn't even be possible.

You move about spryly, Miss Cindy. Very good... However...," Theodore said, before giving a quick kick straight to Cindy's stomach. "You still have a long way to go!" he said, right before Cindy lost consciousness.
