Chapter 2: The Rebirth

Author’s note: Jin Xia had lived for AEONS, not millenniums.

Host’s note: Yes, I’m going to put this note at the top of each chapter. I’m not the author, I’m rehosting this with author’s permission.

Xie Mei fearfully peeked up at her master when there was sudden pause in his shouting. The attacks that had previously bombarded her fragile body had also ceased.

The young man’s palm continued to hover in the hair for a few more seconds before it slowly retracted down. There was blank look on young man’s face.

Seeing this, the little girl was a little puzzled but felt a deep relief in her heart as she continued to keep vigilant against her moody master. She was already used to being beat by her master every time he became angry and needed to vent his anger.

Although her master had never beat her to the extent that she was borderline dead, he still left her with many deep bruises and nasty scars.

But alas, she could not do anything about it. Such is the life of a lowly servant as herself. Such is the life of the weak.

After a few moments, as if snapping out of his daze, the young man seemed to have come to life once again as he looked down at the female servant, Xie Mei. Then, he slowly reached out his palm towards her face. Upon seeing her master’s action, Xie Mei reflexively jolted back as her eyes shut tight, preparing for the upcoming pain. But it never came.

Instead, the little girl felt a ice cold hand lightly touch against her cheek.

“Was master’s hand this cold before? I remember it was fiery hot when he was slapping me…” Xie Mei wondered as she gazed doubtfully at her master, who was now gently smiling at her.

“…Sorry for making you go through all that. But I promise you this will never happen again. You may leave now.”

The young man spoke in a soothing voice, as if he was talking to a newborn, when he addressed his personal servant, Xie Mei.

The little girl’s eyes became twice as round when she heard the words coming out of her master’s mouth. He had never said anything like this to her. From the day she had started working under him, she had only heard insults and received slaps from her master. Why was he being so nice to her now?

But, now that her master had allowed her to leave, Xie Mei was naturally not going to stay any longer for fear he would change his mind once again and hit her…

With a timid nod, Xie Mei quickly got up and speedily left the room. But before she went through the door, the little girl gave a quick bow and a “Have a good night, master” before closing the door.

“What a nice girl.” The young man thought as he saw the little girl’s action. He gave a slight nod and a gentle smile in response, which again seemed to have surprised the girl, seeing her eyes becoming rounder once again before hastily shutting his bedroom door.

The young man was now left alone in the room.

“That girl is called Xie Mei, huh…and this body’s owner is called…Jin Xia. Haha, I guess I’ll be borrowing this name for now, eh. Hmm, now that I am in possession of this body, it truly is not bad, albeit crippled. But that is not a big issue as I plan to reform this body anyway…”

The deity (now Jin Xia) softly murmured to himself as he inspected his body, nodding his head lightly in self-satisfaction.

Although the former god had wanted to reincarnate in a soulless fetus, starting his journey from scratch, after discovering the young man’s body and the potential it held within the deity quickly changed his mind.

If he took over a talented body that have already half-matured, it would significantly cut down the time required for him to reach the pinnacle of his original power.

Moreover, with his powerful methods he could easily modify a mortal’s body structure, allowing it to reach its peak conditions. With the exception of elderly bodies, it did not matter whether it was a baby or a youth the deity incarnated in; as long as the body possess a great deal of potential he would be able to work with it.

As for a body’s potential, it depended on the number of natural meridians that were open. The more being open signified higher body potential, and usually corresponded with a higher innate potential in cultivation.

A body have 20 meridians; 12 standard meridians, and 8 extraordinary meridians. With a typical practitioner, only about 5-6 meridians would be open, while for those so-called geniuses, around 10-12 meridians would open. This Jin Xia astonishingly had 12 of his meridians open! Although most of them were destroyed, crippling his cultivation, the deity was not concerned at all.

“Hmm, with this body I’ll definitely be able to save some time trying to open the meridians…now, let’s see, I’ll have to understand where exactly I am, this brat’s history, and this world’s basic law if I’m to move forward at this point. Since I’ll have to study over this person’s thoughts, I might as well take this time to reforge this broken body into a new, prime state.”

Having said that, Jin Xia dived into his inner consciousness as a golden gourd slowly formed itself in his Dantian.

This is the Eternal Gourd. By forming the artifact’s physical form in his dantian, it would be much easier for Jin Xia to access the spatial tool, allowing him to easily retrieve and store anything in the Mortal Domain without having to spend extra effort pulling it out from his own soul.

Once the gourd was fully formed, Jin Xia quickly retrieved a gold-colored pill with dragon inscriptions on it. The pill instantly appeared in Jin Xia palm as he inspected the medicine.

This was the Twelve Dragon Transformation Pill, possessing the ability to forcefully shatter a mortal’s, or even a god’s, body and reconstructing it in such a way that it would thoroughly cleanse the body of impurities and allow the body to reach its apex constitution. It was even said that after taking this pill, one’s strength would be greatly promoted upon successful transformation.

But as potent as it was, it was equally deadly; many gods and mortals were unable to bear the abysmal pain and fell to their demise as a result. It was a godly pill that only a few in the entire world would possess.

Although Jin Xia was widely known in the Heaven Domain for his monstrous power, there were several aspects to his profound knowledge that made him terrifying to his foes. His extensive knowledge on medicine, war tactics, mystical formations, alchemy, weapon and techniques creation, and the likes, was in itself a blessing for his allies and a curse for his enemies.

Along with his lengthy life, came an equally proportional amount of vast knowledge and strength.

After confirming that he had selected the correct pill, Jin Xia immediately went to his bed and went into a cross-legged position. He threw the pill into mouth and moments later, ghastly sounds began to emit from Jin Xia’s body.

His bones began to collapse and break apart, his muscles began to tear, and even his dantian started to crack apart. But as horrifying were such damages, the shattered parts were repairing itself just as quickly at a frightening speed.

With this vicious breaking and repairing cycle, one could imagine how agonizing the one who took the pill is going through.

But throughout the process, Jin Xia remained silent as if he had not even felt his body being forcefully ripped apart and repaired constantly.

In fact, he had already began to study over the information obtained from the “old Jin Xia”, having half of his conscious focus on studying while the other half remain alert to monitor for any unfavorable changes in his body.

As Jin Xia looked over the previous Jin Xia’s memories, he started comprehend the nature and circumstance of his current life…

Host's note: I'm going to be putting 2-3 chapters up here per day until I catch up to where the story left off or I'm told to stop. I'll probably space out updates by a few hours though.
