six.

Ever looked into his soulless eyes and notice them taunting her, but she didn't want to show a demon any type of fear, so she swallowed the feeling down and grabbed a hold of his hand. It was cold as ice that it almost burned her own, she pulled away quickly and Blade let out a deep chuckle.

"Well, aren't you cute," he gave her a wink and leaned back against the bed putting his hands behind his head still studying her up and down.

Ever scoffed at him and turned her direction back towards the happy couple feeling Blade's wicked smile burning into her. The last thing she wanted to do was play Blade's little mind games.

Marissa rolled her eyes at Blade's comment, "Oh, don't mind him. Blade thinks he can swoon every girl he meets." Ever joined in with Marissa's laughter.

"Hey, it's only facts Marissa," Blade fired back.

"I doubt your Ever's type. She's way too sweet for you."

Blade licked his lips, "Who doesn't like sweets?"

Marissa rolled her eyes, "Yeah, she's sweet. Not you, Blade."

"You should ask every girl I've been with 'cause they say otherwise."

A pillow came flying past Ever, hitting Blade right in the face and everyone began to laugh. Blade looked around to see who the culprit was. Bret spoke up exposing himself to the pillow throwing, "Dude, you are so full of yourself."

"Yeah well, at least I own it." Blade threw the pillow back in Bret's direction, laughing the remarks off.

Bret caught the pillow, "Whatever dude. I can't say much since you do seem to get the most girls anyways, right Veronica?"

Veronica flipped Bret off and turned her attention back towards Blade, "He's mine anyways."

She tried to grab a hold of Blade's waist and he shoved her hands off of him, "Get your fucking hands off me. You don't own me, Veronica."

Veronica's eyes began to fill with embarrassment, "You're such an asshole, Blade."

"Girls love assholes." He leaned back into the bed behind them pulling his hands behind his head as he closed his eyes, a soft smile crept on his face.

"That's not true."

Instantly every head was turned towards Ever as her soft voice was heard loud and clear. Even Blade opened back up his eyes to hear the angel disagreeing with him. The room was filled with silence and tension could be felt brewing in the air. Although the whole group was there it seemed as though the only ones in the room were the angel and the demon.

Blade liked a challenge, especially from an angel. It's been a while since he crossed paths with one and with that he leaned in real close to Ever, feeling her warm presence against his cold one. He was so close to her face now that he could see her silver eyes that weren't fearful, but confident that took him back slightly as all angels normally would show slight fear in them, but she showed none.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

"Is that so, Ever?" He was so close to her now, that she could smell his scent that was to her surprise — sweet.

Ever gulped down her fear and pulled his gaze away from her eyes as she turned her head away from him crossing her arms against her chest, "Yes."

"And what makes you say that?" His tone was playful now, trying to taunt her it seemed.

"I've certainly never been with one, nor would I ever be with one." Ever then directed her eyes straight to Blade's.

He narrowed his in return, "I doubt you have ever been with anyone before."

Everyone now turned their attention to Ever and this is where he got her. Angels couldn't lie. She had to tell the truth. She hasn't been with anyone before, how could she? After all, this was her first day on Earth, and the fact that her potentially first boyfriend was probably halfway across the country, and who knows when she would be seeing Jake again.

Ever tried to say something, but all of the air got caught in her throat as she was trying to climb up the hole she just dug herself.

"Wait, you've never been with anyone? At all?" Veronica now chimed in with utter amusement and a voice laced with torment.

"Well, no but —"

Blade burst out laughing, he was laughing so hard that he was now holding his stomach. Veronica decided to join him, but everyone else just watched and when Ever looked at Marissa she could tell that she felt for Ever but didn't say anything in protest.

"Holy shit, that was a good laugh," Blade's laugh came down to just a faint chuckle. "How bout you keep your mouth shut on things you have no idea about, huh?"

Ever's heart sank a little, but she took in a deep breath to hold her composure. She didn't want to back down to him, she shouldn't after all that was when she decided she was going to fight back.

"Just from the few minutes of meeting you, I know for a fact that is something I don't want."

Jay was the quiet one, but couldn't help letting out a chuckle, "Damn."

Marissa, Chase, and even Bret chimed in with Jay's small laughter that made Blade's face turn cold. He was bubbling up with anger because how could an angel be a smart ass to him. How could he even let an angel embarrass him like that? They normally just coward with fear especially a young angel like herself.

Blade scoffed at her remark deciding to let this girl have her fun because soon she would regret ever dealing with a demon like himself.

"Oh, babe, I wouldn't be so quick to make assumptions about what you want, " Blade laid back in his casual pose of his hands behind his head leaning back on the bed.

The room grew quiet with anticipation of seeing how this conversation was going to be played out.

Ever crossed her arms, "Why do you say that?"

"Because you'll end up wanting me. They all do." With that he smiled at Ever and before she could let out a single word, he quickly added, "Now can we please pass the bong, I'm bored."

Ever could feel her hands turning into fists as her grip was beginning to be so tight her hands were turning white. All she wanted to do at that moment was to go home. She didn't belong here, not now, not ever. She was frustrated, embarrassed, and honestly just tired. Ever got up from her seat next to Blade and walked across the room.

Marissa instantly stood up from Chase's lap, "Ever, please don't go."

Blade chuckled, "Why not? Just let her."

Marissa turned around to face Blade, "God, Blade you are such a jerk."

He kissed the air at her and that's when Chase piped up, "Fuck off Blade."

Marissa went over to Ever and grabbed her by the arm, "Come on. Let's just have some more fun before we leave."

Ever smiled at her, "It's okay for you to stay Marissa. I know you were looking forward to spending time with Chase, so please do. Don't let me leaving ruin that."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I want to hear all about it when you get back though, okay?"

Marissa giggled, "Okay, but are you sure you will be okay walking back alone?"

Ever nodded, "It's not that far. I will be just fine." She then hugged Marissa and turned to look back towards the group, "It was nice meeting all of you!"

"You too, Ever! Hope to see you again!" Bret sat waving at her with a bright smile.

"Yeah, you're pretty cool," Jay said softly.

"Agreed," Chase added.

Everyone seemed to be waving goodbye to her all except for Blade and Veronica. Veronica was in his ear now whispering to him, but Blade just stared deeply at Ever, watching her every move as she waved and grabbed the doorknob, slipping into the darkness of the party.
