Ever rolled her eyes and began to walk towards the road, ending their conversation there as she didn't want to play his game any longer than she had to.
"Hey, where are you going?" She could hear his voice becoming faint as she kept walking on not even turning back around to look at him while answering him, "Home."
She could hear the music downing down behind her and she began to feel suddenly at ease. This first day of hers was crazier then she could ever imagine. She had exhausted all of her energy and now just wanted to go home, rest up, and figure out how she was going to save Marissa from this group.
Ever tried to get lost in her thoughts of her plans to save Marissa, but was abruptly interrupted by the demon that just seem to not be able to get enough of her.
"I can tell you are going to be an easy one," Blade slid right next to her walking in rhythm with her.
Ever stared straight ahead, "I'm not going to be anything, but fulfilling my mission."
Blade tried to catch his laugh but failed.
"Mission?"
"Yes, a mission. I've been placed on this Earth to save someone and until I do I won't be able to return to Heaven, " Ever looked up into the starry sky dreaming of the day she would see her family, Dalili, and Jake again.
"That sounds dumb."
Ever snapped back down to Earth, she looked straight at him stopping in her tracks, "Oh yeah? What do demons have to look forwards to anyways?"
Blade began to walk again, Ever following in his steps, "We certainly don't have a stupid goal like that," he broke out a smile, "we just do whatever the hell we want. We're selfish, brutally honest, and just don't give a fuck."
"That sounds dumb," Ever now smirked at him.
"Hmm, you should give it a try before judging. Isn't that what angels are supposed to do anyways? Not judge," he nudges her gently.
Ever rolled her eyes, "Well yeah, but coming from a demon or anything that is known to be bad doesn't apply."
"I still think it's hypocritical."
"To you. I don't have to explain myself honestly. You are just getting in the way of my responsibilities."
"How so?"
"You are trying to play mind games with me. I can assure you though they are not going to work. Not on me."

"You sure about that?"
"Quite sure."
"I'm not trying to play mind games, Ever. I'm trying to flirt."
Ever rolled her eyes, "Exactly. That's what demons do, try to swoon the angels."
Blade let out a sigh, "Well if it's worth anything, you are without a doubt the most beautiful angel I have ever seen, and I've seen many throughout my years here. There is something about you, that I'm drawn to. You may turn me into the light, who knows?" Blade looked up into the sky this time as if he was wondering what it would be like to live up there in Heaven.
It stunned her that those words came out of his mouth. She knew that they were probably lies, but the way he said them was so soft and gentle that it made it more believable that what he just said was the truth. She could feel her heartbeat begin to race and didn't quite understand why her body was reacting this way — why her heart was reacting this way. Sure he was a good-looking demon boy, but that shouldn't get in the way of knowing his own dark heart. Her face could be felt getting warmer too. At this moment she was thankful it was dark as she did not want Blade to see her blushing — she didn't even know why she was — he was a demon after all. She didn't understand why he decided to say something nice to her, or why she had these feelings in her stomach.
Blade quicken his pace to get in front of her, he turned to walk backward so he could face her, "I think I just made the angel swoon for the demon." His smirk turned into a full grin.
A laugh came out of Ever, "You wish."
"I do actually, " Blade stopped suddenly making Ever run into his chest.
Her head slammed straight into him, he wrapped his hands on her shoulders steadying her and she looked up at him. She hadn't realized just how tall he was compared to her, she felt so small this close to him as he towered over her. Her breath caught in her throat as his hands slid down to her waist gently placing them there — it was a familiar feeling as if those same hands have been there before.
She didn't want to move away from him for reasons that she didn't want to face. It was as if there was just a gravitational pull toward him and she couldn't move away. His eyes staring right at hers were soft and gentle, not the ones she met a couple of hours ago. She felt as though underneath his demon facade, there was an angel — deep down. Ever couldn't explain why she had this feeling, but she did and it was strong.
Blade then leaned towards Ever getting closer to her face, but still Ever stayed letting him in. His hand tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and Ever could feel her whole body almost melting at the slight touch. He then leaned down to her ear, his lips almost touching her ear, but not quite.
She felt the warmth of his breath as he whispered, "I knew you were going to be easy."
Ever placed both her hands on his chest pushing him hard away from her. Blade began to laugh, "Aw come on, Ever."
Ever didn't have the energy to respond, she simply started walking off hearing Blade's laughter in the background. She was determined to just ignore him if he started following her again and to her relief, he didn't. She walked back to the dorms constantly replaying the image of Blade leaning down towards her in her head. Ever couldn't believe that she let him do that to her, she knew all the signs yet she ignored them.
When she got to her dorms she instantly laid down on her bed, the thoughts of doubt flooded her head. She thought that she wasn't ready to be here — down on Earth. The Headmaster was right to treat her differently at the ceremony, Ever was way in over her head. She wasn't like Dalili, who was at the top of her class and who everyone envied — including herself. Ever didn't have anyone to call or to run to as she was alone in this world. She curled up into a small ball letting the tears flow down her cheeks.
Her pillow was soaked in her fears and worries. That night she decided she just wanted to cry herself to sleep — and that is exactly what she did.
