A loud, beeping noise rang on the bedside next to Ever's white, fluffy bed. She was buried into the pillow, wrapped around the big comforter that so much reminded her of home. She quickly peaked her head up amongst the thick blankets around her and was in search of that annoying, unfamiliar sound. She noticed on her bed stand, was a phone, vibrating and making that terrible noise. A moan came from the other side of the room as Marissa shifted.
Ever reached for the phone turned off the alarm and was now completely up. She examined the odd rectangular device as she never had one before, up in Heaven they didn't need phones to communicate, they were all on different wavelengths, but one could jump over to someone else's wavelength and just talk through their head with one another. This was something that Ever never thought she would miss, but she sure did because she would be jumping on Dalili's wavelength to tell her everything that has happen so far in a span of one night.
Another shuffle from Marissa was hard and Ever turned her way hoping that her phone didn't completely wake her up too, but it seemed as if Marissa was in a deep sleep. Ever smiled at her thinking that she was glad she made it home safe. She got the feeling that Chase would always make sure she would get home safely. His eyes as he watched her were so deeply in love, she was grateful for him, but also wished that Chase wasn't a part of that friend group she met yesterday because then she wouldn't even need to rescue Marissa and she would never have to meet Blade.
Blade — with his corrupt tongue flinging insults at Ever, feeding her doubts and fears. His full, red lips pulled up into a slight smirk, cocking his head to the side letting his dark, slightly curly hair fall gently over one of his eyes as he read Ever like a book. He was good-looking — no doubt — but she wasn't going to let that stand in the way of her responsibilities as an angel. She couldn't let it happen even if her heart was slightly starting to race just thinking about Blade and how much taller he was when he held her waist last night. She remembered the way he tuck a piece of her hair so gently behind her ear as if he didn't want to hurt her. There was also something about the way he looked at her at that moment, his eyes were soft almost pleading with Ever to meet his lips, their souls pulling towards each other knowing it is forbidden.
Ever couldn't think straight, Blade has slithered into her mind, tempting her with thoughts of lust. She knew she needed to stay focused and ignore the demon, but why did it seem so impossibly hard to do so?
She decided on taking a shower that morning to wash off all of the guilt that had bottled up inside her. She gathered some shower supplies she noticed in her closet and headed out the doors, through the skinny hallway to a sign reading "SHOWERS". She hoped that they would be empty as she wanted to drown her sorrows alone.
When she entered the all-white room a running shower could be heard in the distance, filling the big open room with streams of steam. Ever let out a small sigh, but was grateful that it was only one person, and not flooded with others. She picked a shower stall that had a couple of others between her and the mystery person and began to unload some of her things, but before she could finish, the occupied shower turned off and the curtain pulled back in one quick whipping motion. Although it was quite steamy Ever could make out exactly who came out of that stall — without a doubt.
The mist clung onto his body, making it slightly glisten against the lights up above. She could see the outline of his abs clear as day even from the distance she had between them. She found out that he had way more tattoos than she imagined and found herself interested in what they all meant — if they did at all. The white towel hugged his hips at a very dangerous height that if he moved a certain way she would be seeing more than just his abs. Her breath hitched at the fact that she was even thinking about that part of the body, especially him. She could feel her face getting hot and tried to quickly set her stuff down, so she could get into her stall as quickly as possible before he realizes who she was, but her efforts failed and she ended up spilling the contains from her caddy making a loud banging noise, and a laugh to seep through the air.

"Flustered much?"
She could feel his smirk embedding into her and quickly gathered her stuff, standing up to face him directly behind her. He was close now, she could smell his choice of body wash and she would be fooling herself if she didn't admit that she thoroughly enjoyed his choice. His hair was dripping wet, making it even darker if that was even possible.
She tried to gather her thoughts, "Uh — erm— no. You just — uh — caught me off guard is all."
He let out another chuckle, "Mhmm sure."
His smirk turned into a genuine smile and Ever thought this was a good look on him because his smile was beautiful and one that she could get used to and now was reprimanding her brain for even creating such thoughts. He was just a good-looking demon that's all, besides she had Jake to look forward to and he was very much cute and way way way nicer than this guy, so there shouldn't even be a comparison happening right now — right?
"Demon got your tongue?"
She snapped back, staring directly into his black pits, but instead of seeing the agony and pain she saw on the first day, she saw something glisten in them that she couldn't quite put her finger on, but it was something that made her ponder about his motives towards her.
"No, I just think that you are—," she cleared her throat, "in the wrong showers — or um — maybe I am." The last part came out like a question.
He leaned against the wall connecting the showers, crossing his arms against his chest, "Or maybe this is exactly where we should be."
Ever could feel her face getting hot, she bent down picking up her things to hide the true feelings that bloomed on her face. Once she gathered all of her stuff, she turned around without even looking at him trying to make a quick exit but instead ended up running straight into his chest for the second time in her life, spilling the contents from her caddy yet again.
A groan escaped her throat, "Ugh why can't you just leave me alone?" She began to gather the contents.
"You do realize I was here first, right?"
"Yes, but you didn't have to get in my way once again."
"I like being in your way," his smile grew bigger.
"Well, I don't," she tried to make her tone sound harsh and intimidating because she was getting frustrated now.
"I love a feisty angel," he gave her a wink.
She didn't realize just how angry she quickly became. Maybe it was the fact that she knew deep down in her heart, she found him way more attractive than she should and that the only way to handle these emotions was to snap at him, hoping that she could scare him away from her, even just for a bit.
She bent up quick leaving her spilled mess behind to face him straight on now, slightly on her toes so she could try her best to meet him at eye level, her eyes glaring into his, "You think just because you are a demon that you are so charming and irresistible, huh? That you can just swoon me over with good looks? Well, news flash Blade, there is more to a person than just looks and your heart is cold as ice and that's something I could never imagine loving."
Her chest heaving up and down now, she slid back down onto the heels of her feet, slowly trying to control her anger, but was hard to do so because Blade had the biggest, cockiest smile on his face.
"You think I'm good-looking?" He lifted one of his eyebrows.
"Ughhhh —"
"What? I know it's true, but coming from an angel? Well, we all know you guys can't lie."
He lowered himself to be on her level now, looking at her dead in the eyes. Their breaths intertwine with each other, feeling his cold presence only centimeters away against her warm one.
"You aren't so innocent yourself, Ever. You hold yourself to these high standards, feeling so prestigious because you think you are "saving" people, when in reality you are just judging them, looking down on them as if they were some scum of the world. You angels have your noses so high up in the air that you become delusional about who you really are. Well, news flash Ever, there is more to a person than just their status and your heart is so full of judgment and that's something I would never love, just fuck." The words rolled off his tongue cooly.
Ever gasped and could feel the tears struggling to let out, trying her hardest to hold them back, but a tear had escaped from her, feeling the warmth sliding down her cheek. Blade gently wiped the tear away with his thumb, "Open your eyes, Ever. Angels aren't as sweet as they seem."
She pushed his hand away from her, "Go back to Hell!" She bent back to the ground gathering her things for the last time.
Blade slightly chuckled and with that he stepped around her spilled mess, his laugh growing in the distance, leaving her on the floor collecting the contents on the ground as well as her thoughts.
