seven.

Ever made her way through the crowd, slipping around every couple down the stairs. She reached towards the bottom of the stairs about to make her way to the front door when suddenly a pair of hands wrapped tightly around her waist. Her heart started pounding and she turned around to face a guy — one of the frat boys she assumed — who was looking her up and down, visualizing the things he wanted to do with her.

His grip was tight around her, "I've never seen anyone so beautiful," his words slurred and his breath smelled of thick whiskey.

Ever tried to force a smile, "Thank you, but I need to go."

She tried to walk forward, but his grip wasn't budging. "Why don't you stay with me for a while? I could show you a real good time." His eyes ate up her body, full of hunger.

She could feel one of his hands leaving her waist and running up her thigh slowly, licking his lips causing Ever to go into full-blown panic mode.

The Academy talked about the dangers of alcohol, and the many different ways it could affect people — normally in a negative way especially when drinking too much. This guy seemed to have a little too much to drink because his motions mimicked his words — slurred and slow.

Ever felt his hand stop at the top of her thigh, squeezing it before letting go and then pressing that same hand back on her waist, tugging her into him. She could feel the hard bulge pressing against her. Her breath quickened realizing that she was going to struggle trying to pry him off of her if she could even do so. Her hands went up to his chest trying to desperately push him away, but it was doing her no good.

Her voice came out in a slight whimper, "Please let me go."

"I really can't do that nor do I want to," a sinister smile spread across his face, his hand began to move more up her dress and she could feel her heart about to explode from her chest, but before this boy could finish what he so wanted to so badly a voice was heard behind them.

"Bro, get the fuck off of her."

The frat boy was suddenly ripped off of her in one quick motion. Ever didn't even realize her eyes were closed until she felt the pressure off of her thigh and opened her eyes to see that tall, dark demon boy she met just a couple of minutes ago standing there, his chest heaving up and down and face full of anger. His eyebrows furrowed and his hands clenched into tight fists causing his muscles to stand out more. His shove was forceful because he stood towering over the boy who was now on his bottom looking up at him with utter confusion.

Ever was surprised to see the demon boy so soon and to see him defend her like that. Demons rarely helped others, and normally it was for a selfish reason, but this didn't seem like a selfish act as he didn't have anything to gain from this.

He must have read her mind, however, because the next sentence that came out of him was, "Don't think I suddenly care about you. I just can't stand guys who prey on women. It should be the other way around."

The boy on the ground was trying to get up pissed off towards Blade, but before he could steady himself up Blade punched him straight in the face, Ever jumped towards Blade trying to push him back from the situation.

"Come on, please no more!" Ever pushed at his chest to try to get him to move away from the situation, but to her effort, he didn't even move — not even a tiny bit.

Blade rolled his eyes and a smile broke out on his face, he grabbed Ever's hand and guided her out towards the front door and into the cool air outside. He brought her to one of the ends of the porch where it wasn't occupied and took a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket placing one between his lips. He motioned the box towards Ever offering her one, her face turning into disgust and shaking her head no. He chuckled shrugging his shoulders, "Worth a try, right?"

He then lit the cigarette glowing up his dark features. He was a really good-looking demon Ever thought but quickly erased those words out of her head as she couldn't believe her mind would even wander there. He turned out the light and blew out the smoke away from Ever, turning back towards her he leaned against a post, "So, what brings you here to Earth?"

"I just graduated from the Academy and now I am fulfilling my first mission here. What about you?" Ever thought that she shouldn't talk to him, but she was genuinely curious about his type of being. She's only ever heard about demons in the textbooks she read and in the classes, she took but has never actually seen or interacted with one till now.

He blew out more smoke, "I was bored in Hell, so I decided that I wanted to have some fun here with humans."

Ever was shocked to hear this answer as her whole life led up to this moment, she practiced and study daily to prepare her for this journey, but for him, he simply chose just because he was — bored. What did they do down there? Just have parties daily, living carelessly with no type of structure or routine?

"So, you just get to choose if you want to come here or not? I don't understand. You don't have like a school or academy that teaches you how to be evil or something?" Her head tilted to the side in fascination at the idea.

"We do whatever the hell we want. No rules, no obligations. Just have fun and bring some people along the way, sounds like the good life huh?" He smiled at her and then put out his cigarette.

Ever shook her head furiously, crossing her arms. Blade laid his head back laughing, "You are cute, you know?"

Ever scoffed, "You can drop the flirting, you and I would never happen."

His face turned into something more devious as if she fed him a spoon full of ideas. Something so delicious and tempting for him. Demons loved playing games and for Ever she just gave him the ultimate game.

"Never say never, Ever."
