***** Vol.5 Chap.5 The second guardian-to-be *****
Dr. Kristin Sobrinowski was a passionate marine biologist working as the Director of Underwater Research at NOAA in Miami. Her long-term goal was to develop the capability to communicate with all living creatures in the ocean, especially dolphins, her favorite.
Since her youth, she was fascinated by dolphins and had made dolphin communication her immediate research efforts. She had designed a small transmitter called Deployable Recording Device (DRD) that can be attached to dolphins. The DRD would record sounds both heard by subject dolphins and made by the subject as well.
After deploying over a hundred of these DRD’s, she was able to track several family groups of dolphins as they traveled around the oceans. However, cracking the dolphin sounds proved to be more difficult than anticipated.
To gain the context of the communications, Kristin scraped up her meager budget to built an experimental submersible for one person. The sub was shaped like to dolphin with the hope that the sub can swim among the dolphins and be accepted as a member of the pod. Her fantasy was never realized.
Before the maiden trial of the sub, Kristin awoke with a terrible dream of drowning in bubbles. Upon awaking from the dream, she found out that there was an incident near where the vessel was. Somehow, a series of nightmares haunted her since her youth. She wondered about the meaning of these nightmares.
Soon, she realized that every time when she had such a nightmare, coincident or not, something happened at the Bermuda Triangle. This time, she found out a yacht sank nearby.

Subsequently, her sub was diverted to a save and rescue mission when a yacht caught in the heavily foaming sea sank when a giant bubble burst near its bow. The yacht sank vertically in such a way that the occupants were trapped in an air bubble thus surviving on the trapped air till the yacht was towed to the surface by the sub in a daring rescue.
Unfortunately, the incident was used by the captain, Jonas Tontere, of the research vessel Mayflower as a cover up and a means to remove Kristin from her Director position thus denying her from further research with the dolphins and future contact with the sub.
After several months being demoted to be the Director of Tour Guides, she had another nightmare only to find out the next morning that there was another freak incident occurred at the same spot at the Bermuda Triangle. Immediately, Kristin felt the urge to be at that spot again. With all access denied to board the research vessel, she stealthily hid inside a cargo crate and was hoisted on board the research vessel into the cargo hold.
After Captain Jonas got word that she was not seen nor found on land, a massive manhunt on board the research vessel ensued. Despite several attempts to search the ship, she kept undiscovered.
When Mayflower finally arrived on location, Kristin came out of hiding and with the help of the cook, she gained entrance to the sub. Using the recently installed remote capability, she launched the sub into the water and with her prior knowledge of the ocean terrain, she found a set of ridges with many hidden ravines.
As she approached the ravine, the subliminal urge within her was almost unbearable.
To escape capture by Jonas and divers from the Mayflower, she steered her sub into one of the ravines and dived deeper and deeper into the underground labyrinth.
During the last hour of her available oxygen, she walked around exploring the deep underwater cavern with its strange and foreign ecosystem.
She was satisfied and happy. She knew without understanding she was at the right place. On her last breath, she thought she saw a giant bubble approaching her and engulfing her.
