Chapter 9: Tribe head
In one of the largest tents in the tribe sat four elders along with Glyn and shaman Lumi.
“Shaman Lumi would you be so kind as to help keep our conversation private.”
The whole tent had more than ten layers of furs but that in itself would not be enough to stop others from hearing the contents of this meeting if hey truly desired to do so.
“Certainly elder.”
Standing from her position Lumi held two small parchments of animal hide while reciting some incomprehensible words. The parchments disintegrated into a brown dust and moved to the edges of the tent.
“With this we should have some privacy.”
“Thank you shaman Lumi.”
After a short pause their meeting began, every few months the higher ranks in the tribe would come together and discuss any problems they encountered or issues they might have. After a couple of hours the topic that Glyn and his wife had been anticipating finally came up from the fourth elder.
“Then the last topic has some minor importance but a young girl was able to single handedly beat my grandson and his friends, she was stronger than him and he started the quarrel so I am not seeking justice for him but she is of the water element and can still somehow cultivate the fact that she possesses a cultivation technique is something that can not be overlooked.”
“Yes that is something that we as elders should have to keep safe, on the topic of this girl she seems to have caught the attention of all the younger generation.”
The third elder followed up with some words including the fact that their grandsons would also like to take Nixie for themselves. Looking at the elders who were attempting to get their hands on a cultivation technique that wouldn’t benefit them in the slightest amused Glyn, he knew that they just couldn’t stand the fact that something in the tribe was beyond their reach.
“Glyn when you told us to leave the girl to the younger generation and stay out of their little quarrels did you know she possessed a cultivation technique.”
The one to speak was the second elder who would always be in direct opposition to him thinking that Glyn would takeover the tribe and all the favor he carried with the tribe head would be wasted.
“I had a minor idea about it but don’t know any details. If you would like to know more feel free to attempt to question my wife, Shaman Lumi.”
In the tribe a shaman held a special position without real authority but could no be forced into doing anything. The reason being that a shaman would provide the tribe with runic warriors, runic warriors mad up a majority of the clans forces and if a shaman were to leave the amount of runic warriors would drastically decrease. Hearing Glyn’s words the second elder couldn’t help but grit his teeth.
“Shaman Lumi would you be so kind as to elaborate on where the girl obtained a cultivation technique and one so powerful to raise her to such a level at the age of nine?”
Throughout the meeting Lumi just sat silently not minding anything that went on in the meeting but now she would have to give some assistance to her husband and take a great opportunity to raise her son’s status in the tribe.
“I do not mind but that is only if the prior agreement stands, the older generation will stay out of their business and quarrels.”
Looking at the old men reluctantly nodding Lumi had a satisfied smile.
“Then if we are in agreement I will tell you. My sixth son who will be naming himself soon created a cultivation technique for the girl, it is also why she is so attached to him.”
The elders were puzzled by this news but it seemed like the only explanation that made any sort of sense. They knew that the girl was oddly attached to that sickly boy but no one could understand the reason, but know they knew. Even if it was them, if they were given a cultivation technique that allowed them to have such strength they would follow that person regardless of his situation.
“Then shaman do you know what level of strength she has reached?” This was something the first elder had been most curious about.
“Hmm from what I know she should be able to fight evenly with a top mortal realm aura warrior. Other than that I don’t know what realm she is in.”
To reach rich a level at the age of nine was truly monstrous and she could now be considered the top genius in the tribe but as the elders were thinking that a thought passed through the first elders mind.
‘If this was a cultivation technique made by that dying trash in an element he’s never encountered then what could he make for our clan. Or what has he done for himself’
but he seemed to be the only one who thought of these things all the other elders were thinking of a way to rope in the girl who had taken the spotlight into their families. Every other elder thought of a way to win over the girl by sending one of their older grandsons of even some of their youngest sons who would be needing the age of twenty in hopes of acquiring the water cultivation technique and a future member who could potentially raise one of their family members into the set of clan head.
Instead the first elder was thinking of ways to win over Sixth, sending one of his granddaughters would not result in much considering the charming appearance of Nixie but it was still worth a shot along with a nice position in the clan he might gain enough favor to have Sixth make a cultivation technique for his people.

Glyn could see the scheming look in the four elders’ eyes but pretended not to notice it as his wife had achieved their goal of keeping the older generation out of the conflicts that would rise. But that satisfaction did not last long as his older brother barged into their meeting with a messy appearance and smelling of wine.
Gavlin of the Raging Mammoth tribe was a mid aura realm warrior, his talent could be considered the worst in all of the tribe but after years of cultivating he gave up and stole the tribe's precious treasure.
A rare plant that would improve one’s aura level and was able to advance, because of his crime he would normally be punished but his strength was recognized and the necessity for powerful warriors in the tribe outweighed his crime.
But because he never took care of anything important no one expected anything out of him other than fighting those beast that normal warriors could not deal with.
“Haha what’s with those faces I'm the clan head show respect and bow. Shaman Lumi have you given any thought to leaving my weak brother and becoming my eighth wife?”
Seeing him enter all but the second elder scowled this man was only tolerated because of his strength and even that was obtained through a crime. But Glyn didn’t mind as he was close to reaching the same realm and would go even further with the cultivation technique’s improvements. Once he had equal strength to his brother he could openly oppose him and even take the seat of tribe head.
“Tribe head, do not act in such a manner or you will be punished.”
Lumi on the other hand had more than enough power to take down the tribe head but as a shaman of the tribe she was forbidden to directly act in the political maters of the tribe.
“Watch your mouth when speaking to me, I am a mid aura realm warrior at this distance I could kill you before you even act.”
The elders did not want to lose their tribe's best shaman or suffer the wrath of the tribe head so the best they could do was try to appease the tribe head as they thought shaman Lumi was more level headed and would not pointlessly engage in a fight.
“Tribe head sit you have arrived at the end of our discussion but if you have anything to add we as elders of the clan will listen.”
Seeing the elders’ obedience towards him he smiled.
“Good then I will just state some matters and be done I have other important things to do. That girl that the younger generation have been talking about will marry my son and that trash, whoever he is, will die if he has touched her as she is now my son’s woman.”
As soon as he finished speaking all the elders in the tribe’s face turned pale. Earth elemental energy began to fluctuate and an incredible pressure came down on all but Glyn, this pressure originated from Shaman Lumi who could not stand hearing someone declare that they would kill her son.
“Trash, ha you call my son trash when the only way you reached your position was as a petty thief. You go near my son or send any one after him you will die.”
As she spoke Gavlin was struggling to move even a finger while looking at Lumi with pure fear.
“The elders have already come to an agreement on that mater and we of the older generation will not be involved so you will stay out of this and appreciate the fact that I let you live.”
Her words were dominating but everyone understood that to touch a mothers child was asking for a fight until one party was dead.
“Fi..ne, fine we’ll do that.”
In his fear he forgot that he was the tribe head and would agree to anything that Lumi said. In his head he began cursing how was he supposed to know that one of her son's had actually turned out to be trash.
“But in a year he will have to compete for a position in the tribe against all those of the younger generation and their you can’t help him.”
Saying his final threat the tribe head left the meeting tent shamed and infuriated. The tribe’s higher ranked members would gather their younger generation and have a small competition once every three years but the participants were usually those between the ages of fourteen to sixteen asking her nine year old son to participate would be akin sending him into a tiger’s den.
During the competition killing your opponent was something frowned upon but not against the rules and she had no intention of sending him to an early grave. Having seen the clan head completely dominated by their most powerful shaman the elders couldn’t help but wonder if she had made a breakthrough into the top apprentice realm.
If so then traditions could be completely broken by her and no one would be able to oppose her, but as she didn’t do so they felt great respect for her and admiration for her character. Back in Nixie’s tent she was rolling on her furs wondering how she would explain to her parents her engagement to Sixth, after he chose an name for himself he would then be considered a full member of the tribe.
And then she would have to tasks to accomplish first would be to explain to Sixth about their engagement then to tell her parents. But that would be considerable difficult to do as she wasn’t sure how to go about it.
Thankfully she had the technique [Snow fairy’s wings] which strengthened her mind and allowed her to calm down. Having calmed down she decided that simply telling Sixth the facts and the doing the same with her parents would be the most efficient method.
