I wake up at 5 in the morning due to my work schedule. After grabbing my things and heading to the subway I receive a message.
Sophia: Okay, here's the plan. You'll go to work and do your day job. At night I want you to go to the beginner's dungeon under the adventurer's guild and get to level 10 if you aren't there yet. In the meantime, I'll run my own investigation and see if I can get any usable information. When you have reached your goal text me.
Alice: Okay.
With a new goal, I get off the train and head to Al-Chem's accounting department.
————————————————————————————————————
"All right Alice now that you're back here, you can get right to doing your job. Work hard, you have a weeks worth of files ahead of you!"
"Yes, sir."
Almost immediately after walking into the office my boss, Creech Nelson, told me to get to work. With him standing at the door frame, I think he may have been waiting specifically for me. Wait, if Telepathy allows communication of thoughts can I use it to hear thoughts without transmitting mine? I use Telepathy on Creech.
'Incompetent bitch. With her new looks she probably got cosmetic surgery and was using company time to rest. Company time, my time, time is money, so she's devaluing my paycheck! Hmm, I'll have to punish her somehow…'
Ok, now, I know with all the rumors about him in the office making him sound terrible, but that was…something.
I walking to my desk and see a flood of paperwork covering every available inch. No spot was left open, did they really just hold back all this paperwork until I came back? Ugh, I have a long day ahead of me.
————————————————————————————————————
"I'm sorry for the delay sir, but everything is sorted now. Yes. Yes. Okay, goodbye."
With that last call marks the end of my workday, well, it usually would but Creech is standing in front of the door as I try to leave.
"Where are you going, Alice?"
"I'm going out with a friend tonight."
"Oh, well, that's too bad because I see that you're still behind. So, sorry to ruin your personal life, but I'm going to need to to go back to your desk."
'Oh, right, I just remembered I need to pump up those product reports. The upper brass just love the big numbers, and maybe, I can get out of this hellhole.'
[ Through repeated actions skill: Observe(Minimum, Passive) has ranked up to Observe(Minor, Passive) ]
I trudge back to my desk with a new revelation. Since Observe is about seeing things in their true form, then if I use Telepathy to hear their true thoughts, I may be able to rank up Observe once more. But first, I message Sophia that I won't be able to visit the dungeon tonight because my boss is working late.
Sophia: Oh, that's horrible! What's his name?
Alice: Creech Nelson, he runs the entire accounting department over here at Al-Chem. All he does is suck up to the higher ups while kicking us workers.
Sophia: I wish you luck then, and don't worry about the dungeon. You can take your time.
I move back to my desk and get ready for an all-nighter. I guess I might as well try and use Telepathy on anyone nearby. Luckily, I have Sleep Immunity but that doesn't really make me any happier.
————————————————————————————————————
Alright, 5 AM again with new revelations with Telepathy. At first, I thought I could only use Telepathy if I was in the same room as someone or looking at them, but I found that I could use it on people if I knew their location. Using this I was capable of listening to Creech's rude thoughts. I thought this skill was all powerful until I found it had a range of about 50 feet when Creech left the office to go grab breakfast for himself.
My breakfast today consisted of beef jerky. I know it isn't a lot but it was either this or whatever concoction the laboratory department came up with. Plus they were on the other side of the building with all administrative departments on the east side of the compound and all production departments on the west side, and the experimental departments on the south side. The north just had a reception area and a parking lot. It really makes you wonder how much money this company makes if we can have a surface parking lot in New York.
So then is my boss so sketchy?

After another full day of work again Creech actually lets me leave so I hop on the subway to head home and grab my stuff. Then I head to the beginner's dungeon.
A few minutes after walking into the dungeon I run into a couple of those large rats that I defeated before. Using the same strategy of letting it bite my clothes and then stab, I easily defeat both of them.
[ You have killed a level 2 "Large Mad Rat" x 2. 20 experience points gained. ]
I continue forward until I get to the same intersection as last time. This time there seems to be a rat in the middle. It looks similar to the other rats but it is slightly smaller and more blue than purple.
It charges at me faster than I could see and rips some of my sleeve off. I attempt a swing but I miss completely. Out of desperation I try Inspect.
[ Rat - A fast breeding rodent that completely destabilizes the food web of any environment they are placed in. While some are monsters and some not they are still designated as a kill when you can as if left unattended they can easily reach large numbers. As an invasive species, they can survive in almost any environment and they possess a powerful sense of smell. ]
I don't even think that helps but I swing again and luckily I hit it and it dies.

Looking at the myriad of stat increases I realize how lucrative it is to level up. With nothing else to look at I continue into the stone paved hall.
I walk for a few minutes until there is a soft glow of light from behind me. I turn around and see that a safe has mysteriously appeared in the wall. Upon closer inspection, I see that it uses a keypad and there is a plaque above it that reads, 'The code to power is the first five digits of the thirtieth item on the fifty-second row, within the Pascal.' I take a moment to work out that this is some kind of free trial for me to attempt and if I pass it I'll get some kind of prize. Okay, so Pascal. As in Pascal's triangle? I haven't used that in a while. Oh, these numbers are going to be big. So, combination equation is 'n' factorial divided by 'r' factorial times 'n' minus 'r' factorial. Umm…these are very big numbers. I'll just write on something. Do I have paper?
About two hours later, I have figured out that the password is 27053. Inputting that into the keypad unlocks the safe with an audible beep. Inside the safe is a small ball that I can barely fit a single hand around, with no other information I grab it and take it. After that the safe fades away, as if it never existed in the first place. I continue forward.
*Skitter*Skitter*
While walking I hear the pitter patter of something small, but for some reason my danger sense is not reacting. Looking at my feet I see a small silver bug crawling around my feet. I try using inspect on it.
[ Stonebug - A monster that lives within stone and feeds on minerals. They are usually peaceful and will not attack unless provoked. However, they view movement as provocation and a threat. As they are blind they sense vibrations through stone and only stone. Their shells are made of the minerals they consume. ]
I step on them and nothing happens, so I jump and stomp on them. After that I hear a loud crunch.
[ You have killed a level 1 "Stonebug" x 15. 1 experience point gained. ]
Wow, that is not a lot of bang for my buck. I look around and see hundreds of Stonebugs coming out of the stone. They probably sensed my stomp but they can't really do much damage. Might as well and become an exterminator.
————————————————————————————————————
An hour later I feel a lot better about myself and also incredibly disgusted. I even got a new skill from jumping all over these bugs to kill them.
[ Jump - Improves the user's ability to propel themselves in a single direction using their lower limbs. ]
Maybe I can find just a few more bugs and get that last experience point. Then I was tackled by a rat. It was the same as those Large Mad Rats so I efficiently and methodically kill it using my same process.

Satisfied with my work for the day I head back out to the dungeon entrance. Once I was on the subway I received a message from Sophia.
Sophia: Okay, so I learned once again that my husband and daughter are better at information gathering than I am.
Alice: Wait, you have a daughter?
Sophia: She's a well kept secret and no it isn't abuse, she just likes to keep a low profile. She helps her dad a lot with work too. I might give her your phone number later if you're okay with that. I think she needs more friends.
Alice: I'm fine with that but why did you text me?
Sophia: I wanted to know what level you're at.
Alice: I'm at five. I also got a small ball from a safe.
Sophia: Ooh, you're leveling at a nice rate. It also sounds like you got a random dungeon challenge, those are completely random in time, place, and challenge itself. However, I would recommend you try putting that ball under you pillow tonight. Good night.
Alice: Good night.
I get to my apartment and put the ball under my pillow. Thus ends my Tuesday.
