Seyric stood by the window of his room as he tiptoed to gaze from outside.
His eyes scanned the metal fence covering the tall trees and green bushes next to the colorful flowers.
Many citizens and nobles entered the gate.
While the children gathered in the empty field inside with the other fellow civilians. The children ran around the area with a smile on their faces, along with laughter.
The soft breeze swept to his face, influencing a smile to Seyric's lips as it reached his eyes. His chestnut brown hair danced along the wind while he fluttered his lash before he dashed out of his room.
On the other hand, Euris was inside his study. Their papers were still scattered across the desk. He gathered a handful of files as he asserted to them accordingly. He huffed a sigh as he placed the documents into a neat pile.
His deep-red eyes cleared through the paper's content while he tapped his fingers on the table. He then grabbed a quail and wrote a few notes before he gave them a quick scan and signed it.
A long pause of silence except for the scribble and a few lights knocks suddenly interrupted his business. His pupils left the paper in his hands as he stared at the door.
"Father...?" His son's soft voice echoed behind the door.
Euris' pupils enlarged when the voice echoed into his mind.
"Are you there? Am... Am I bothering you...?" Seyric added.
Euris wiggled his head as he cleared his throat. Then he leaned back in his chair before he glanced briefly at the door.
"Come in." He immediately raised the paper before his face while the corner of his lips slightly lifted.
The door silently swung open.
While Euris shook his head slightly as he couldn't force himself to stop his smile.
Seyric stood behind the doorframes and greeted his father with a warm smile.
Euris cleared his throat as he lowered the paper from his face. When his pupils finally met his son, his heart flattered, and as another smile started to plaster his face, he suddenly bit his lips before he regained his posture.
"Oh, son, it's you. Come sit." Euris offered the chair in front of him.
While Seyric marched towards him, he grabbed hold of the chairs and struggled to get himself up.
The sight in front of Euris' made his face warm as his lips parted. He immediately moved his hands, covered his mouth, and almost laughed. He stood up to his chair and helped Seyric up.
Seyric faced his father and found his face plastered with a gloomy look that raised his brows. "What's wrong father?"
Euris immediately shook his head as he hid his emotion, "Nothing, what brings you here?"
"Um..." Seyric bit his lips.
"Are you looking for a book? I can recommend you new one, " Euris paced towards the shelves. "I have few books about magic and other class—" He raised his arms as he grabbed the book.
Seyric waved his hand in the air. "No father!"
Euris stopped and glanced at his shoulder, "Hm?"

"I don't want to read..."
"What is it that you want then?"
There was a long pause before Seyric finally parted his lips.
"Father... Can... can I go outside?" Seyric ear flushed red. He dropped his head and stared at the ground.
"Oh..."Euris traveled back to his chair.
"I will let you but come close, " He waved his hand back and forth as Seyric leaned to him. Euris smiled as he pulled out the drawer under his desk. He grabbed a gemstone—a ruby necklace he showed it to him.
"Wear this." Euris started to place it around Seyric's neck.
He then wrapped his palm around the gem as it filtered light when the rock blazed in his touch. As it took a little moment. Then he suddenly plastered a smile on his face.
"Now, you can go."
Seyric responded him a smile. "Thank you, father!"
Before Seyric left his father alone in his study.
In the living room, Ikaria carefully held a cup of tea in her hand while her silky, dark-chestnut, long hair—slid by her shoulder. She drank the tea, a buzz of bittersweet aftertaste filled her tongue, and a warmth traveled through her throat.
Seyric entered the doorway, and he paced across the room with loud footsteps.
Ikaria's deep hazel-brown eyes glanced at the noise and found her son."Honey?" Before she pulled the cup away from her face, "Where are you off to?" Her lips lifted side to side while wiping the side of her lips with napkins, and her pupils never left sight of her child.
Seyric halted from his pace and gazed towards her. "I'm going to play outside, mother."
Ikaria made a puzzled face. She flicked her eyes while she opened and shut her lips before looking away."Um..."
Ikaria leaned at the back of her seat, placed her toes above her knees, and shook them uncontrollably momentarily. She gazed back at Seyric and finally parted her lips, "Have you told your father yet?"
"I already have, mother. So... Can I play now?"
"Ah, I see..." Ikaria paused for a moment. She placed the cup on the thin plate and then joined her hands together while plastering a tight-lipped smile. "But, you should eat first!
"I did, mother..."
Ikaria's shoulder dropped as she glanced away. "Oh, is that so..." She sighed and waved her hand in the air as she nodded her head down. "Okay, you can go..."
Seyric scanned her mother's carefully before he stepped towards her. "Is something wrong, mother?"
Ikaria raised her head with a forced smile across her face. "It's nothing, Honey. Mommy's fine."
"Okay, mother... If you say so."
Seyric finally reached the door. He twisted the handle and swung the door open before taking a final glance. "I'm leaving! See you later, mother!"
Before he stormed off and vanished from Ikaria's sight.
Ikaria sighed heavily as she pulled herself body from the couch. She led herself to the library room until she halted by the door and knocked.
Her shoulders dropped like weights on her body while her brows arc closer to her eyes. With the muted response, she decided slowly push the door open.
Euris's face was directed in his wife's direction before she closed the door behind her and paced toward his direction.
"What brings you here, honey?"
Ikaria dropped herself at the seat while her gaze remained fixed on the floor, "Do you think... he's ready...?"
"Of course. Why wouldn't he be?" Euris placed his arms on the table and joined his hands. "Is it bothering you?"
"No honey... I just... I..." She stuttered as she buried her face in her palms, " I just think he's little to young to handle it." She muttered across her soft sobs.
Euris fluttered his eyes before he stood beside her placing his arms around her shoulder. "We can't lock him around the house. He must be free to decide on his own."
Euris push her hair behind her ears before gently pulling her hand away from her face. "Hey... Hey, he'll be fine. I promise. "His lips curved side by side with his comforting gaze. He placed a kiss on her forehead.
"Don't worry, I already gave him a spell of protection." He whispered.
Ikaria's eyes roamed across his face before she nodded and tried to fix her breath. "I'm sorry... I can't stopped thinking about it."
"It's fine." Euris wiped the tears from her cheeks before their eyes locked into each other's gaze. "I love you."
Ikaria chuckled before she sighed her doubts and planted a kiss on his lips. "I love you too."
