CHAPTER 42

It had been a month since their last big bounty, and our two friends were going where the winds took them. For now, they didn't have any plans. Kreegan left the helm and turned to Lex,

"I want to get some rest. I didn't get much sleep last night. Can you stay at the helm?"

"Of course, I can. We are moving straight ahead."

...

Lex had dosed off at the helm out of boredom and came to his senses after a sudden jolt. When he opened his eyes, he realized that Tora One was almost falling from a waterfall. Lex was puzzled; what was the waterfall doing in the middle of the ocean? It was shaped like a circle. So, there was a hole in the middle of the ocean. Kreegan staggered out of the cabin.

"What the hell is going on?"

Seeing where they were heading, he turned to Lex and said angrily,

"How the hell you didn't see a giant hole in the sea?"

"I dose off because of boredom; how should I know there was a hole in the sea? It was such a boring and straight trip."

It was too late to return, and Tora One was certain to fall through this hole. All Lex tried to do was straighten the sideways Tora One. This way, he could open up the wings and glide. Kreegan immediately began climbing the poles and straightening the reels, so Tora One's direction began to turn towards the hole.

Lex pulled a lever, and the ship's three masts turned into gliding wings and flight control. Two big masts turned into wings, and the small mast at the back turned into a tail. They were falling fast, but it was a controlled fall. There was an island in the hole, and in the middle of that island was a mountain. The waters around the island were filled with shipwrecks. After about 5 minutes of gliding, the ship finally landed on the water. Kreegan looked up and said,

"How the hell are we going to get out of here?"

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

Lex pulled a lever and turned the mast into its regular self and started to climb the mast and get into the crow's nest. He started looking around, but there was nothing other than shipwrecks, but when he turned to the west, he saw a ruined village.

"There is a ruined village at the west behind the shipwrecks; let's go there first."

But at this moment, with a loud thud, the shipwrecks on the other side were smashed into pieces, and a huge green octopus appeared behind it. The octopus was almost twice the size of Tora One.

Kreegan drew both swords and immediately prepared his spells. For level-1 spells, he chooses 2 Flame Burst, 1 Shocking Grasps, and 1 Expeditious Retreat; for his level-2 spell, he chooses Cat's Grace. The giant beast was coming towards them really fast.

Lex and Kreegan immediately got on the cannons and fired a volley. The cannonballs started to go toward the giant octopus, and the beast raised its tentacles and blocked most of them with its eight arms. Some of the cannonballs found their target and hit the beast right on its face, but it didn't do much damage. All it did was some burns around its face.

The beast screeched with a high shrill voice, but it was clear from his painful voice that even if it was little, they hurt him. It was not yet clear whether this was good or bad because the beast looked much more enraged than scared.

Kreegan could now see the number on the beast. It was a four, but it was not gray or white like usual; it was yellow. Gin was level 3 but was weak; that is why his color was gray. Normally it would be white. The yellow number meant the beast was getting close to level 5 in power.

"How are we going to beat something so big?"

"We are going to turn it into Takoyaki. First, I will pull its attention, and you should use your full beast mode. Let's see if your weakening claws are going to work on it. I need you to slow it as much as possible. Dump everything you got at it, then retreat."

Kreegan raised both swords to his right shoulder and slashed with all his might.

"Jolt Nanajuni Pound Ho (72 Pound Phoenix)"

Blue sword energy spiraled toward the beast with small crackling bolts of lightning in it. Flying sword attack managed to slash the beast but wasn't deep. It only managed to cut a little bit and wasn't even muscle-deep.

But this attack had managed to get its attention. Since Kreegan and the beast were on the same level, Jolt seemed to stun the creature for a second, as the octopus's movement had stopped for a second. Seeing this, Kreegan used Flare right in front of its giant right eye.

The beast released another shrill scream and backed off a little. The beast started to thrash around using its giant tentacles. Every arm was thicker than two men. Kreegan knew trying to block this beast's strikes would be a folly, so he started running away.

Just then, Lex, who had transformed into a large white tiger, began to attack the creature. His big claws were crackling with lightning, and he started clawing and biting the back of the beast's head. His power was working, and the beast had slowed down. Seeing this, Kreegan immediately cast his Flame Burst spell toward the slowing creature and managed to hit it right above his right eye.

Roaring flames, 3 meters in diameter, engulfed the creature's eye. After a cry of pain, the creature whipped one of its arms at Lex, managed to land a hit, and threw him from its back. With the impact of this blow, Lex crashed into one of the shipwrecks behind and was left in the wreckage.

This hit must have hurt him because he turned back into a human and started to retreat while limping. With two more arms, it attacked Kreegan, but he had already used Cat's Grace and Expeditious Retreat. Boosting his speed close to a level 5 power level. Kreegan's speed increased, while Lex managed to drop the beast's speed. He was now dancing amidst attacks from which he had no choice but to retreat before.
