CHAPTER 38

When they got on board, there were about 20 men on the ship, 6 of whom Kreegan knew from the manga. Don Krieg was sitting on a golden-colored wooden throne, listening to Gin. Pearl, Ideaman, and Kagikko were drinking among themselves.

Don Krieg started to smile slyly. He reached into the bag and took about 100 million.

Kreegan got close to the guardsman and pointed in the direction of Kagikko.

Before the man could finish, Kreegan stabbed the dagger in his waistband into the man's back and covered his mouth to keep him from shouting. The man was dead within seconds. With Lex's help, they placed the man on a barrel, and when they slid his hat over his face, he looked like he had passed out from drinking.

"You will take the rest; I will take Gin and Don Krieg."

"Okay."

Kreegan took two more large stacks of money from his jacket pocket and began to approach Don Krieg. Don Krieg noticed the approaching Kreegan, but his attention was on the stack of money in his hand.

"Captain, I want to show you how grateful I am for taking me to your crew. In the last raid, I had found this money, and I wanted to give those to you directly."

A satisfied grin appeared on Krieg's face, and he held out his hand. Just as Kreegan was getting ready to draw his sword, Gin swung the tonfa-weighted with metal spheres towards Kreegan. Kreegan pulled his sword and blocked but got pushed back a bit.

"I saw you somewhere before, but not in our crew."

Kreegan tried to deceive once more.

"Sir, I am a crew member."

Krieg already pulled one of his pauldrons as a shield. It was at this time that Lex started attacking Pearl and the others. Don Krieg was level 4, Gin and Pearl a barely level 3, Hustle and Kagikko was level 2; everyone else was level 1. Kreegan drew both swords and took a stance,

"Jolt Tatsumaki"

But the target of this attack was not Don Krieg or Gin; both had already taken defensive positions. Kreegan's target was the other men. Don Krieg had needle bullets attached to his Gatling gun and was ready to fire at Kreegan. Seeing this, Kreegan used one of his spells.

"Shield"

A blue light enveloped Kreegan, creating an ice-blue membrane covering his entire body. Needle bullets ricocheted from him, but every hit caused small cracks to appear around the shield. When Kreegan started dodging, the cracks started to disappear, but this proved the shield didn't provide unlimited protection for 2 minutes and had a threshold. Don Krieg looked in the direction of Pearl and the others first, and after seeing the half-tiger, half-human man, he shouted.

"Who the hell are you guys? You can’t be nobodies with devil fruits."

"Why do you care? You are not going to live through this day."

Then he charged at him while dodging his Gatling gun. When Krieg saw how ineffective his needle gun was, he opened his flame thrower in his right gauntlet and dosed Kreegan in flames. Thanks to the shield spell, Kreegan got out of the flames and was ready to slash Don Krieg, but at the last second, Gin blocked the attack with his tonfas. Using this moment, Krieg smirked like a devil and shouted,

"You nobodies come and try to take my head. Not going to happen!"

Without caring about Gin, he fired his MH5 poison bomb. Seeing this, all the Krieg pirates tried to put on their gas masks in panic and waited for the explosion, but just then, Kreegan threw Yubashiri at Gin and cast a spell with his free hand.

"Burning Hands."

The flames from his hand engulfed the 5-meter area into raging flames, and the bomb that entered these flames exploded in an instant. As everyone watched in amazement, the flames burned all of the poison. Kreegan sheathed and held Ichinami upright in front of him and charged toward Gin. Not realizing that Don Krieg was using him as a human shield, this idiot threw himself in front of every attack like a loyal dog to him.

"Jolt Shishi Sonson."

Gin couldn't fully defend as he couldn't see clearly through the mask he wore on his face, and Ichinami left a large cut on his torso, and Gin fell to the ground. Don Krieg, without hesitation, tried to fire one more MH5 poison, but Kreegan used Ray of Ice and hit the shield right in the muzzle, destroying the bomb launcher. Don Krieg opened up all of his other weapons.

Barrels protruded from the sides of his waist and his shoulders. At the same time, he held two-barreled pistols in his hand. He fired a barrage of bullets against Kreegan, and Kreegan immediately began to run away. He was zigzagging and trying to avoid bullets by jumping over the mast and barrels around him and making acrobatic moves; his Mobility and Athletics skills were at play here, but He wasn't fast enough to dodge all of those bullets.

Some of them were able to hit him, and with every hit, his shield became weaker, but before the shield was destroyed, Krieg ran out of bullets. This time he pulled both of his pauldron shields and combined the two. As soon as the two shields joined, they turned into a spear.

All the pirates, who heard the noise, started to head towards the ship. Over a hundred pirates approached the ship, but at that moment, bigger explosions and gunfire started coming from the entrance. A pirate standing in Crow's nest shouted.

"The Marines got the platforms down and came in. They need help at the entrance."

Almost all the pirates began to flock towards the entrance, while some were heading towards Don Krieg. Lex defeated other pirates except for Pearl and Hustle. Hustle was the combat instructor of Krieg pirates, and he was a decent close-range fighter and used steel knuckles as his weapons. Pearl and Hustle were attacking Lex from both sides, trying to tire him out, but Hustle was out of luck.

Pearl was in better shape because he was hiding behind his shields, he was able to evade Lex's metal staff and claws, but Hustle's entire body was covered in claw marks, and Lex had the ability to weaken his opponents with each claw hit.

Hustle was running on fumes, and Pearl was trying to shield him as much as possible, but Lex was not an idiot. When Pearl tries to defend Hustle, he lands a hit on Pearl. Seeing this, Pearl started to protect Hustle less and less. Their plans had backfired on them. Because of his devil fruit powers, Lex had superhuman stamina and slowly overpowered them.
