Chapter 7: Narrie's "messy" tower room.
Time: 12:50PM
Anyways... While Narrie was getting her mail with one of her dogs, Chedder, I pointed directly at the Noel town village sign, the one beside her mailbox, because like... It's different than it was an hour ago!
(Picture of sign beside mailbox.)
"Oh look!" I'm trying to show my best friend the "magic" stuff that I learned when I was away! "They're starting to decorate the sign with the dragon that has the Gaian symbols of hope and peace and good whether."
"Maybe..." She saw the camera person beside us and laughed, "Well, with an interestingly auspicious name like Noel." She laughed again and added, "You need some mysterious symbols!"
Well... I don't know if they're magic or not because like... They might just be regular symbols, and anyways, Gaia isn't magic... I mean... People go from to there to here but...
Anyways... Mandy already believes in dragons. It's just that sometimes she pretends to just pretend to believe what people are telling her while in reality...
Wait... Am I like supposed to know all of this stuff already because my parents are the ones who started the dragon festival here in the first place..?
Then Mandy pointed the camera the sign and said, "And there's the "Welcome to Noel" sign and look! New symbols! Are the dragon keepers putting them up there? And... What do they mean?"
That's when she looked at me and told the camera, "Well, contest is printed in this years Santa Tails, with a special dragon story by..." She pointed the camera at me and added, "Your uncle!"
"Ahh..." I smiled as I realized what Mandy was doing, she was getting me on TV! Well... I shouted and hopefully she can edit this in! "Isn't it amazing!"
(Picture of us in front of the sign.)
"With so many Santa clauses roaming around and people with pointy ears and dragons too?" Narrie added to the clip Mandy was shooting by telling the camera, "It's like a northern Roswell out here!"
"Yes it is!" Mandy smiled with excitement at the young future business owner's idea of a nonsensical clickbait story, "And that's why we had best capitalize on it all right?"
"Remember, there's only 3 suites left." She gestured the three of us to point to the phone number on the hotel sign and when we did, she continued advertising! "So book today for the big event on the solstice and stay for new years. Remember, winter solstice is in less than a week! So don't miss it."
"So!" Mandy shut off the camera and told everyone who would listen, "If there's any other stories, let me know okay, because right now..." She took a good look at her wrist watch and added, "I got my work to do if I want to make more than 100 views tonight! And it's almost 1PM!"
"Mandy," Ryan pack up the drone camera and asked her, "have you heard of the legend of the underground dragon nursery? It's near the crystal clear fairy spring."
"No spoilers hon." Mandy told him as we headed toward the front porch.
"Well," Ryan continued, "it's an old legend, that... My grandparents used to tell it to me!"
"Ha ha!" I laughed at Ryan and Mandy's banter as me and Narrie followed Chedder up to the front porch. "Grandparents? Mr. Blister pretends that we've had this dragon festival forever!"
"I helped to spread the myth!" Narrie told me as we walked up in front of the dining room window where Mom and Dad chatted with Narrie's parents on the other side of the window...
Please mean that means we stay!!!
I just walked and guess what? "Ha ha ha!"
"Whats up Sunny?" MY best friend in the whole world Narrie Middlcreak just helped her dog Chedder wipe his muddy feet on the mat,
"Well!" I pointed out my Uncle Randy who is currently trying to help string the lights over the living dragon out front, except..! "Both Randy and Ryan are supposed to be tidying the lights right? But they climbed on top of the dragons and as they pass the string lights through the air it's so funny..! so... IDK.
(Picture.)
"Well..." Narrie said, "My living dragons do have metal skeletons so it's okay, really, but I don't know if they really can really breath fire. Mr Candydish said told me they help to melt the icy pathways though..."
Well..! If you didn't get that, Mr Candydish is the town inventor, can you guess what he invented? If you thought he invented a really good candy dish, you would be... Partially correct,
"Well, Auntie just brought over the ladder and... Now they are having a wool ball fight!
"Well!" Narrie took a good look, smiled and said, "As long as they aren't hurting my dragons I am fine!" then she stared at the fish and stopped paying attention.
"Ha ha ha!" I laughed at the window, "Ryan is throwing wool balls as uncle Randy is climbing the ladder."
"What?" Narrie blankly asked me while I watched my uncle and his hopefully new best friend climb up and down living plant dragons, "That's how they string the dragon isn't it?"
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
"Yeah," I told her, "but like Randy is happy here! Like, I think he was even pretending to be a knight!"
"Sunny!" She glared at me, "He had BETTER not be thinking about slaying MY dragons!"
"No," I forgot how assertive and protective about her special things she gets, and told her, " just riding on them."
"Okay!" Narrie smiled as she backed up and spun on the staircase, then she asked me..." So what's first?"
"First!" I told my BFF, "I want to remember how cool it is to be in repunzels tower!"
Narrie huffed and said, "Only if you can wait 5 seconds with me."
"Okay." I answered her, see, uncle Randy taught me a secret, cross your eyes. so... "Oh course I can last 5 seconds of a staring contest!"
And then she looked at me and counted, "1. Mississippi 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississi..."
(Picture of counting and the decorated window.)
Yeah... I totally deflected my failure by checking out the first thing I saw that might be interesting..! "Wow! The back windows are painted too!"
"Yeah, Mom is decorating them!" Narrie exclaimed. "I mean, she makes me look for a new decoration every day! It's like an advent adventure!" Then she smiled and told me, "You know it started when we became a family on Easter!"
"So it's like an easter egg hunt that you count up to like an advent calendar?"
"Kinda..." Narrie muttered, "That and..."
I looked around and what did I find on the window sill but... "Hey, is this one of the eggs from last spring?"
"No Sunny!" Narrie's mom Laurie laughed when she came into the living room and explained, "It's a hidden dragon egg, we're having a dragon egg find!"
"Yeah." Narrie gave Laurie a quick hug and then added, "We try to entertain our guests."
"Like the easter egg hunt last spring?" I blurted out, "That was really cool! Like SO, MANY, CHOCOLATE, EGGS!"
Well... I thought about last month when I really wanted to open the last one! But, like I told Narrie, "Mom's daring me to not eat the last one until we can get more of Noel's prize winning chocolate!"
"Well, look no further!" Lauri pointed to the Christmas tree and left the room.
(Picture of chocolate foil candy canes on the Christmas tree in the middle of the room.)
Are those?
I am scared to ask if they're from Mr Candydish's candy-shop because..! Basically, if I eat one now, I'll never wanna leave. It's like fairy food! And I will kick and scream until they let me stay because this is my home!
"You know..." Narrie, My BFF just woke me up, "You can have one..."
"Really!" Basically, I haven't had any of this amazing chocolate since well... You know those easter eggs? Well we had extra's until JUNE! And kinda didn't buy anymore because I didn't actually think I'd move away from here.
I mean just look!
Picture of Narrie's family with me in it.
Yeah..! I'm part of it all, see, like last year, when the easter egg hunt was just for the immediate family, well, there's this really cool benefit to being Narrie's BFF, and that is that I get to be part of all or the wild and crazy things going on!
Because you know... I don't have any fun adventures of my own...
Any that don't sound so incredibly make believe anyways!
"Yeah Sunny." Narrie picked a red polka dotted chocolate candy cane and shook her head and then she told me, "That's what we get them for..!"
"Really?" I looked at the Christmas tree and like... But I'm trying to watch my figure you know how I'm a teenager now! The thing is... I also have a sweet tooth too and anyways! If I eat too much sugar I'll just burn off the calories! So there!
"So Narrie," I picked up a stripped purple chocolate candy cane and asked her, "Should I have one now?"
"No." Narrie said flatly, "You've had at least one cocoa and honestly!" She shook her head, sighed and sniffed, "Your breath smells like chocolate!"
Okay... I put back the candy cane and poked around the Christmas because there's something hidden inside... "Hidden Easter egg, what's this?"
(Picture of dragon eggs. AKA foil wrapped easter eggs with a dragon sticker on it.)
"Yeah!" Narrie laughed and joked that, "Someone must have missed some Easter eggs last year!"
"Ha ha ha no!" Narrie's Momma Kate laughed and said, "You mean that we bought extras! In advance too I might add!" She looked med and said, "anyways Hon, I am so happy that ya found one!"
Then Kate, Narrie's mom looked around the tree as she counted and then explained, "See Mr Candydish had extra eggs, because their new assistant used Easter egg molds instead of Christmas balls and mistletoes.... So..." she looked at the tree and smiled, "Instead of remelting them all and wasting that time and kinda making the new assistant feel just awful we helped by buying all!"
"Yeah!" Narrie exclaimed as she purposely removed a hidden dragon egg, "We got a deal and made em into chocolate dragon eggs!"
"Yup!" Kate immediately got a new foil wrapped dragon egg from the box behind the counter and said, "That's the plan! See, Mr Candydish actually only works at the confectionery for the holidays, He comes with that santa clause elf group you know."
He works at my favorite chocolate candy shop, and I've had a lot of different kinds of chocolate! Anyways, he works at "Nick's homemade chocolates"
See! The policeman invested his saving in a healthy confections, desert and shop just to challenge the stereotype of a fat donut loving cop, See, Aaron knows because his new aunt works there and always make extra fairy cakes!
(Amber story works in it, Amber story is something I bet stephanie would like to write.)
Narrie looked at the tree for what I assume to be the places of the hidden chocolate dragon eggs for the guests and then told me, "You know how Nick's chocolate cream eggs homemade are always good!"
"Yeah..." I took a deep breath before I checked on my parents and told her, "I sure hope that Uncle Randy loves this chocolate as much as I do, I hope he eats some Noel fairy food and NEVER leaves!"
"Anyways..." I changed the subject, "What's this about finding the next dragon picture in the morning?"
"Yeah," we started to walk down the hallway and she told me, "So I haven't actually found today's new dragon yet but..." She darted at me, "Now we can race like every day to see who finds it first it first and gets a chocolate dragon egg as a prize!"
I... Nodded my head.
"And maybe you can help me clean my room too!" Narrie reminded me how I love to spend time in her tower bedroom, "Wait! Does that mean the dragon might be in there?"
I... Have to remember that she seems to think the dragons are just make believe... So I said, "Maybe!"
Just then, Narrie's Momma Kate looked at us and, "What was that? Did I hear you're actually going to clean your room Hon?"
