Chapter 6 Is the Christmas dragon in town yet?
"Hopefully next year we'll have a Christmas ball right here!" Narrie exclaimed after she followed her dog Chedder to the center of where the circus tent for her late birthday present was a few months ago.
That was really cool! Basically? I met Narrie's boyfriend, Ben Macintosh... I mean, I "knew" him when I used to live here, but honestly? That kid was so shy! And then last year... Something happened!
And I... Missed it!
So whats going on now? Oh yeah. So there I was, having just told my BFF my big gigantic super secret that Mom finally shared with me the other month and...
Wait. Narrie..? What are you looking at? Basically, my best friend spinning around and around and around and... Wait!
She just stopped and stared at me!
"Ha ha ha!" Narrie laughed when I stopped!
"I was just thinking!" I exclaimed to little riding hood and her yellow lab, Guess where the name Chedder came from.
"And what were you thinking!?!" She sounds JUST like her mom Kate Middlecreek!
I was thinking that your kinda like Snow white or Rapunzel. Like, you even have a tower bedroom and like... Ben dressed up as a knight for Halloween!
(Picture.)
"Yeah..." Narrie picked up after Chedder and exclaimed to me, "Anyways, tell about these dragons!"
"Now, about the dragons..." I proudly informed best friend in a professional tone of voice that, "At first, I still had no idea why Mom always liked dragons and stuff, I mean, I was totally sure that this whole..."
Yes... I paused as I started walking back up the circus path and remembered what started this whole thing.
Mom pointed out aunt Missy's house and told me with one her silly laughs, "Maybe you and Uncle Randy can find some of those little dragons and help you understand why things are sometimes hard for me..."
"Well anyways!" I don't want Narrie to think I'm even more spacey than her! "I really thought she was just making stuff up, like... I mean, Dad told me that she and Randy used to write stories together so... I don't know! But I really was certain that magic wasn't real because like, Mom treats me like a little kid right,"
Wait... Was that a unicorn??? Basically, I was good and did not scare Chedder as he sniffed around my legs Nope.
But that certainly did get my energy reserves up and kicking as I spun around and exclaimed, "But it wasn't just a silly magic trick! And Randy really DID take me on an adventure and it wasn't completely intended to just pick up lunch from the diner either!"
"Ha ha ha." Narrie chuckled and that's about the time I wasn't sure what was going on as I thought the same thing I heard come out of a tree in Many's voice.
"No sirree bob!"

After calming myself down because well... Mandy is doing some filming right behind the tree, I told Narrie, "Basically, I really thought Randy was just going to show me some "Magical" beat up arcade machine that he wants to buy you know?"
And that's when I stood in front of Narrie and reinforced my secret by quietly shouting in her ear, "We really did find MAGIC!"
"Really?"
"Yes~!" And I've really got to slow down because I think I just scared Chedder! "Well, we found some magic that led down a tunnel and into aunt Missy's yard, and then guess what?" I really kinda hope that Mandy didn't actually hear me as Narrie's secret garden came into view and I blurted out..!
"We found a unicorn."
"And a dragon???" Narrie suddenly got excited.
"Not in Auntie's yard," I told her the secret that's been burning a hole in my mind for weeks! "too many trees or something, but Rainbow was there and he helped Bubble, and like, she's a mermaid..."
Okay, here's the thing, Is Bubble a mermaid? She has no tail... And Aunt Missy showed me they live in a place like the everglades.
"Really?"
Narrie asked and I just know what she's going to ask next, "So does she have red hair?"
And then I looked at the leaves blowing over the muddy path and told her, "No, it's... Usually, green."
"So Randy!" Mandy broke that awkward moment of silence by shouting at my partially deaf uncle, Randy who is going to be a big attraction of this here dragon festival! "Would you like to start an interview before or after lunch?"
"Sure," Randy smiled at me and Narrie and Chedder who is so obviously going to be Felix's new buddy as he threw up his arms and excitingly told Mandy, "we can totally do one right now! "
"So," Mandy pointed her microphone into Randy's face as she asked, "your first time here, and your sister is heading up the dragon festival! How do you feel about that?"
"Well." He tried to laugh like a dragon a couple of times before giving up and saying, "I love dragons, and now I know that I'm not crazy, it's just that..." My uncle Randy started, but... Then he stopped, opened his mouth and let out a big ROAR!
It was really kinda, don't tell him I said this, cool how he continually modified the tones and pitches of this squeaky growl that you could almost imagine seeing before he found a dragon like voice that he liked and told the camera.
"Now everyone!" Randy roared, "We need as many dragon helper voices for the solstice as we can get!"
(Picture of ROAR!)
Wait... I just heard a real roar that came from those mountains! So... Was that a real dragon?
Well... It certainly did not phase Mandy as she told the camera, "So remember, we want to invite you all to find as many dragon like voices as possible! So bring your stories and pictures and voices and whatever else that we might like, and that means your very presence to share with everyone at the Dragon festival that's happening this week here in Noel!"
"Oh yeah!" She waved to Narrie and as she pointed her camera to the inn, added, "And remember, today we're at the Middlecreek Bed and Breakfast, and they still have suites available for a limited time only, so come on up to Noel! The quirkiest little Santa Clause themed town there is!"
Mandy laughed and looked towards the mountains and put her phone in her pocket and... SIGHED. "This year might actually be the start of something big!"
One of the really cool things about this town is how there's so much community involvement and encourage people to come to town..!
Not like we need it. Like, this year alone we got a whole 25 new residents! And if they each have family that visits 4 times! Guess how many guests Narrie will get this summer!
