Chapter 10 We just got to the farmhouse!
Sunny Luna Crumpet here to tell you about the dragon festival that... I'm startuing to think is less of a "weird secret" than I thought...
So! What did we do in the last chapter? Well, Narrie challenged me with a photo of rainbow dust bunnies!
And as Mom pulled into our driveway... I..! Am pretty sure those those dark spots in the mountain side are actually caves that the dragons come and go as they please and everyone knows about it and it is some big secret!
Anyways... I just ran up to the porch and opened the door and... Well it was unlocked of course, like aunt Missy says,
"If you're starving or freezing to death please don't break a window! PLEASE try the front door instead, it's unlocked."
See, Aunt Missy set up a "Take one leave one" center on her front porch and Grampa checks up on it...
But now that uncle Randy lives there he doesn't need to do that even though..! She and Uncle Randy are probably not actually going to get married anytime soon...
Even though he literally said YES!
(Comic of Missy proposing on Thanksgiving, "Will you marry me?" And Randy saying, "Yes!" Panel 2. "The next day." Panel 3. Randy gives Missy back his ring and tells her, "I can't Marry you Missy.")
So basically... I do not think they're actually going to get married anytime soon, but she said that she is still my aunt, and her parents are still my grandparents!
And they gave me a cool camera with a real lens and in a few minute I'm going to be setting up a shot with prisms and hopefully a real spider cat instead of...
(Bad drawing of meowing spider.)
Well anyways, I'm looking for tunnels in those mountains and... WAIT!!! Is that a dragon?
(Picture of house with mountains in the background and what kinda looks like it might be a dragon!)
Well anyways I played it really cool as I watched my parents carry their suitcases up the porch and dared to ask permission to explore the mountains and find the entrances to what I now know to be a real secret tunnel system in the mountains around our farmhouse!
"So like," My mouth opened, "these tunnels? Are there dragons inside?" I wanted confirmation, "And like do the dragons... Hide in them?"
"Yes!" Mom snapped at me! Was it because I let the door house snap shut on her and she was kinda really annoyed at me? Probably... "And that's why I did not want tell you about them yet!"
"Honey," Dad started to calm the air, "There are some secret entrance around our house and that is all that you need to know."
"Really??? Secret entrances around our house..?" OMG! I lost my breath as I imagined playing a splunking dungeon crawler video game in real life!
With a flashlight and a team of friends and...
(Picture of us exploring and avoiding traps and finding hidden treasure!
Okay, see I've already told you that my uncle writes comic books for a living, but I did not tell you that he writes about this secret organization of animal crime fighters whose HQ is in a secret tunnel system in the mountains...
That look just like the ones I'm standing on!
"So," Dad just made his second trip to the wagon and I causally asked him something so ridiculous that... Well, "if there's tunnels in the mountains... Does that mean like there's like a real dragon center under our house?"
"Yeah..." Dad answered me, "And the tunnels go to some other places in town. That is why we invested in Mr. Blisters scheme to revitalize this neighborhood in the first place."
Stolen novel; please report.
Wait... I know this probably means something but like..! "In town? Like, I didn't actually HAVE, to trudge through the mud last spring..?"
Yeah, basically I was a little bit more than just a little upset, because last March, not only did I get a stuffy nose, but..! I fell in the mud!
(Probably should have a picture of last spring.) 2 little stick-figures falling in the mud on either side of each other.)
Twice!!!
"I mean, like..." I stared at my dad as he casually rolled a suitcase up onto the porch and asked him, "Like... So I could have just gone through the tunnels?"
"Sweetheart." Dad laughed at me, "What makes you think the tunnels are either dry or clean?"
"Wait..?" Something sparked in me...
"They aren't?" I waved my arms and asked, "Like... You just mean like a few cobwebs here and there right?"
Dad looked directly at me, and instead of remembering the cobweb that I ran into a few months back.... I imagined the most disgusting room that I have ever seen in my short but extremely gross life and...
EWWW yuck! GROSS!!!
"I'd say there's a few more than just a few spiders down in those tunnels," He finished rolling his suitcase into the house and added, "but yeah. And anyways, you're clothes would have gotten just as messy and anyways, walking out on top of the earth is so much better in like..."
Yeah... He even counted his fingers and told me, "I can count 3 reasons why I think that you would want to travel on TOP of the earth, would you like me to tell you?"
...(Cell service. GPS. Light, Car, normal, boring, etc...)...
"Anyways," Mom calmly stopped in the doorway to tell me something? Maybe? Well my attention was on the mountains behind the windmill, that was behind of the person who I was actually supposed to be paying attention to..!
That's Mom by the way... And she told me, "You will, NOT," She stamped her foot and said, "Not go spelunking alone, because if you get hurt, our, world, will, end!"
Well, did I listen to that? No. But I did when she gently held both of my hands and said, "I'm sorry Honey, but it's true."
"Un hun." I muttered... She actually held my hands gently... What's that even mean? But I had better listen to this but..!
"Yeah, but like," I proudly decided that "I can like still imagine, and, if the tunnels aren't some big secret then maybe I can really go through them, AFTER they're clean!"
Then Mom took a deep breath and made an angry face in the reflection of the porch window and said, "I do not want my sunshine to go exploring yourself! Do I make myself clear!?"
"I know Mom." I gave her a blow kiss and looked all around for the secret entrance because someone has definitely been here!
Picture of before dirty house now, clean house, is it my memory? Well...
"Is it just me or is the house cleaner then when we left?"
