Looking down at the brochure, I let out a sigh. A sand terrain wasn't the best for my elemental strengths, but I knew I'd have to adapt. After some convincing, I managed to persuade Hanz to accompany me to check it out.
Leaving the stone sector behind, we made our way to the sand sector, and I couldn't help but feel a tinge of excitement. Each sector had a brief description in the brochure, and the sand sector was notorious for its ever-shifting dunes and hidden traps, making it a particularly unpredictable battleground.
As we approached the sand sector, we noticed the candidates who would be competing in this challenging terrain warming up. Some were practicing their spells, while others were devising strategies to navigate the shifting landscape. It was clear that the tournament would be a showcase of a wide variety of skills and talents.
Time seemed to fly by and soon the fighter on every sector began.
Hanz made his way back to the stone sector as his name was called for a match. I decided to take a break from my preparations and watch his match.
From the stands, I had a clear view of Hanz as he got into position. His opponent was an elven boy, roughly the same height and build as him.
The elven boy's outfit was a testament to the intricate craftsmanship of his people. He wore a finely tailored tunic made of a rich, forest green fabric, adorned with delicate, silver-threaded embroidery depicting elven motifs. The tunic was designed to allow freedom of movement, with long, flowing sleeves that ended in pointed cuffs.
Over his tunic, the elven boy wore a lightweight, forest-brown cloak that trailed behind him as he moved, adding an ethereal quality to his presence. The cloak was fastened at the shoulder with an ornate silver clasp.
As for weapons, the elven boy carried a slender, intricately crafted wand made of a rare, luminescent wood. The wand was adorned with eldritch symbols and runes that glowed faintly when he channeled his magic. It was a symbol of his mastery over the magical arts, and its design was both beautiful and functional.
In addition to his wand, he carried a slender, curved elven blade with a blade forged from a rare, enchanted metal known for its sharpness and durability. The hilt of the sword was adorned with delicate elven carvings and gems, making it not only a weapon but also a work of art.
The referee stood between them, making sure they understood the rules and regulations. "Anything related to magic and combat is fair game. I'll start the match with a whistle, and when you hear it again, that's the end of the match. Do you both understand?"

Both competitors nodded in agreement. The referee raised his arm and swiftly brought it down, following with a sharp whistle blow to begin the match.
Hanz and his elven opponent wasted no time as the match began. They circled each other, both waiting for an opening to strike. The crowd watched in anticipation as the two competitors exchanged swift and precise blows, demonstrating their mastery of martial and magical skills.
The elven boy unleashed a barrage of spells, casting them with remarkable precision. But Hanz was equally adept at evading and countering each attack. He dodged, weaved, and parried with fluid grace, proving himself a formidable adversary.
As the battle continued, Hanz managed to disarm his opponent, sending the elven boy's wand soaring through the air. It was a tense moment, but rather than pressing his advantage, Hanz chose to hold back, allowing the elven boy to retrieve his wand and continue the battle.
Their exchange intensified, with each of them showcasing their unique skills. Hanz demonstrated his mastery of earth magic, creating barriers and launching rock projectiles. The elven boy's magic was swift and precise, with spells that seemed almost effortless.
In the end, it was Hanz's resilience and resourcefulness that won him the match. With a well-timed defensive move followed by a powerful earth-based attack, he incapacitated his elven opponent, who surrendered, acknowledging Hanz's victory.
The crowd erupted in cheers and applause as Hanz stood victorious in the arena, his determination and skill earning him the respect and admiration of those who had witnessed the battle.
With Hanz's victory, he had not only secured his place in the tournament but had also showcased the strength and potential of Vintess Academy's students. As I watched him exit the arena, I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride for my fellow academy member.
As Hanz left, it was now my turn to step into the sand sector. I made my way to the arena, standing in the designated spot with my stance poised and ready. The shifting sands beneath my feet added an extra layer of uncertainty to the match, but I was prepared to adapt.
However, I was taken aback when my opponent arrived in the arena. She was a petite girl, looking no older than a child. I couldn't help but wonder if there had been some sort of mistake. This couldn't possibly be my opponent.
As the crowd murmured in surprise at the stark contrast in size and age between us, I couldn't underestimate her. It was a common tactic in the tournament to underestimate opponents based on appearances, but this was a mistake I couldn't afford to make.
As you stood in the arena, poised and ready for your match in the sand sector, you couldn't help but be taken aback when a small girl arrived on the arena. She looked like a child, and it was hard to believe that she could be your opponent. She appeared almost out of place in the arena, which was usually dominated by older and more experienced participants.
The girl's appearance was deceiving. She had a youthful and innocent look about her, with long, ebony hair that cascaded down her back.
Looking closer her academy uniform held the insignia of the dwarven kingdom, so I assumed that's what she was.
This will be interesting.
