Tournament: Nyx

I walk out of the locker room with a feeling of determination flowing through my body. I hold the bow firmly in my left hand as I make my way through the corridors and outside the building toward the arena.

I thought about Raine for a moment. He trusts me for some reason. He told me that I have enough strength to be one of the best. Even though I'm just some girl sent by my kingdom as a tool for negotiation, even though my entire life is a lie, he believes in me…

I can't lose this battle, not after he put that much trust in me.

I step up onto the platform of the arena. It's enormous, spanning perhaps fifty yards in each direction. I look across the stadium to find my opponent, Sophia Azure, staring back at me with a faint trace of disgust on her pale white face.

She has long orange hair, kind of like that guy from the locker room, and she's wearing a red suit of armor with a large cross on it. She's holding a long staff with a sun ornament on top.

"You there," She points her staff toward me and speaks, "are you not an elf?"

"Yes." I nod.

"Tch, why is your kind here?" She scoffs at my reply, "Why would this school allow the demon race in here anyway? Even after the current situation?"

I sigh and look up at the floating eye broadcasting this battle. Why am I here indeed?

I'm used to dealing with discrimination. Back in the Knightford Kingdom, it wasn't blatant, it was more subtle.

Whenever I would go to play with other noble children, they would always distance themselves from me. As a result, I had a small circle of friends that only consisted of Jackson and Reginald. But those two made me nervous all the time.

One had a tendency toward violence, and the other had a conservative nature that I could not relate to. But then, the king made all of the discrimination go away with one reveal.

The king had a demon wife, Stella Leviathan. He revealed that he had married her a long time ago, and all of the time they were with each other, nothing bad had ever occurred.

She was quite friendly to other people and got along well with the king and queen. She made an effort to assist both the locals and the influx of demon refugees. She was a shining example that both aristocrats and common people admired. She was my idol.

Then, I met Raine.

He was the son of the very king who had been accepting of all races, so I had expected him to speak to me with an open mind. But he met me with so much more than that…

I grip my bow tightly and draw back the string with my right hand. An arrow made of pure golden magic appears, "So what if I'm an elf? That doesn't determine my character, I determine who I am myself."

A bell sound comes from the floating orb, signifying the start of the match. Sophia scoffs in anger and raises her staff. Numerous red balls of flame blast out at me.

I dodge her fireballs as I sprint across the arena. While sprinting, I shoot an arrow at her chest.

The arrow flies toward her before coming to a stop five feet in front of her, shattering against a translucent white barrier. To see how durable it was, I fire two more arrows at the barrier, but it remains perfectly intact.

Sophia waved the staff around and unleashed a large wall of flames in my direction.

I quickly drew back my bow and created a special arrow larger than the initial ones I fired. I shot it toward the ground and a magic forcefield popped out, shielding me from the flames. I proceeded to crouch down and shoot a thinner sharpened arrow toward Sophia.

The arrow pierced straight through the barrier, shattering it, but she manages to catch it before it hit her. She wears a furious expression and throws the arrow onto the ground.

"How the hell did you manage to break through the barrier?" Sophia angrily shouts.

"The thinner and sharper something is, the better chance of piercing something," I reply while firing three more arrows at her.

She weaves to the left for the first two arrows before spinning around and knocking the third out of the sky with her staff. Unbeknownst to her, I had enchanted that last arrow with explosive magic.

The final arrow blew up as soon as it made contact with her staff.

She quickly backs up when she sees the explosion beginning and creates three large balls of flames above her head. They were massive. The size of each one is roughly twice that of the carriages we arrived in. She flung the flaming balls at me once more.

I try to get out of the way but it's useless, there isn't anywhere to run.

Just as the flaming spheres of death were flying toward me, I felt something on my back begin to move. As soon as I felt that, I was suddenly surrounded by numerous clear yellow hexagons.

The hexagonal shaped barriers block the flaming balls with no issue, but the sheer force behind them causes me to fall to my knees.

"How?" As Sophia spoke, I utilized the attachment on my back to gain a speed boost.

I sprint toward Sophia at a speed so great that I heard an explosion coming from my body. Sophia faced me head-on. When I met her eye, I created a wind blade with magic in my right hand.

I slashed at Sophia's chest, but she blocked it with her staff. She spun around to attempt an upward slash at my head. I stepped back and flipped backward to dodge the staff, then create multiple floating air blades and send them flying toward her.

Sophia spins her staff around and destroyed each projectile with ease. She then slams her staff onto the ground in front of her, causing an enormous wall of flames to be erected.

Multiple fireballs flew from the wall, which I dodged expertly. After dodging the fireballs, Sophia flings the whole wall in my direction.

"What?" I shot explosive arrows at it to open up holes in the wall, but it patched itself up quickly.

The blue hexagons appeared again as the wall engulfed my body. I was pushed back by the wall, but I pushed through with the help of the shields around my body.

I ran through the flames and quickly activated my speed boost.

Sophia scoffs as she creates multiple flaming circles in the air. They all flew toward me, and I dodged them all easily, but as they were flying away, they changed direction and began flying back to me.

I turn around and dodge again as the rings of flame flew straight into the ground.

I turned back around to see Sophia staring me down as a long staff came crashing down on me. I put up my arm in defense, and the staff's motion was stopped by a blue hexagon.

"Just how many tricks do you have, demon?" Sophia angrily let out as she raised her staff. Flames enveloped the long staff and it turned into a large flaming axe.

She positioned herself with the axe and charged toward me. Around my body, three spinning hexagons form to prevent the axe blows as they move. I throw myself back and draw the strings of my bow.

I shoot three explosive arrows at Sophia and she attempted to cut them all down again. As she slashes through the arrows, they detonate in her face causing serious damage.

I face toward the sky and shoot an arrow upward As the arrow reaches the peak of its height, it starts falling. The arrow then split apart and multiplied into hundreds of more arrows as it descended , and the sky started to pour down crystal rain drops..

"What the-?" Sophia exclaimed as she blocked the raining arrows.

I take the opportunity to rush at her while her attention was facing elsewhere. I sped toward her while dodging the arrows falling. I formed a short blade with wind magic and attempted another slash directed at her chest.

Sophia notices my movement and dodges out of the way. She follows up with a hard kick to my stomach, causing me to wrench.

As the arrows stop falling, she spins her body around to kick me in the face. As I attempted to dodge, her other foot catches me, sending my jaw upward.

I back up quickly as the raging Sophia begins sprinting toward me. I held up my bow and shot a single arrow that exploded into a translucent golden net.

Sophia cuts through the net with ease, but I send three more net arrows at her. I proceeded to rapidly fire explosive arrows at her. She attempted to slash the nets, but her axe catches the arrows as well, which caused an explosion.

As more arrows fly toward Sophia, she was no longer able to defend against them, so she was struck by numerous explosive projectiles.

Smoke begins to build up from the numerous explosions and I thought that was the end of the fight. However, Sophia leaps out at me from the smoke with her flaming axe.

I extend my wind blade and block her first strike. I toss my bow backward as I form another, shorter wind blade to hold off her strike.

Sophia lifted her axe back up and attempted another strike down at me. Whenever our blades meet, she would lift her axe and strike again. Sparks of flame fly off after each clash and the force of her strikes begins to push me back.

I couldn't handle her constant strikes, so when she went for another, I deflected using one of my blades and went for a stab with my shorter blade. The blade pierces her armor and pushes through to her stomach, causing her to start bleeding out.

"Gah! You fucking demon!" Sophia exclaimed in pain.

"My god," I exclaim, "I'm not even a demon!"

I rush up close to her and stab her in the abdomen. I headbutt her nose and kick off her chest with a backflip, leaving her bleeding even more.

I create four more floating wind blades and send them flying at Sophia once more. She blocks two of them with her staff, which had lost its flames, but two manage to slip through and cut her flesh.

In a last ditch effort, she fires almost twenty scorching balls of flame in my direction.

I effortlessly dodge the fireballs by weaving left and right, doing flips, and jumping over to my bow. I grab my bow and shoot an explosive arrow straight toward Sophia's head. She made an attempt to block it, but she failed due to great agony and blood loss.

The arrow pierced her head directly in the center before detonating. Blood and brain matter flew everywhere as the headless corpse of Sophia flopped to the ground. Her neck was gushing blood as her body twitched slightly.

I look away in disgust and immediately felt nauseous.

I turn back to find all traces of the wounds disappearing as the injuries I had just caused were reversed. Her head quickly reformed back to the way it was previously and she had still been unconscious.

So that's how the immortality field works, huh?

It prevents death by reverting the damage done previously by using high-tier time magic! And whatever it can't revert, it uses high-tier light magic to heal!

This magic is incredible, I've never even dreamt of such power!

[And the winner of the second battle is Nyx Aurora!]

A refreshing wave rushes through my body as I begin glowing with white light. Two guys in black suits and helmets came to pick up the unconscious body of Sophia and took her back to the girl's locker room.

I let out a sigh of relief and started making my way back to the boys' locker area.

Did you see that Raine? I won! Are you proud of me? I happily walked off to the locker room.

It turns out that Raine was right, I did have strength.
