"Uhh, sorry. Was that a G*W reference?"
"Yes, it was." He sighed, "You had that in your world? Neat."
Mitchell rubbed the back of his head and looked away, presumably embarrassed. Although he shouldn't be, it was a pretty good series. I thought about what he had said a moment ago and decided to press him further.
"So, you're a god? What kind of god?"
Mitchell perked his head at my question. It was almost as if he had been waiting for me to ask that question. He struck an extravagant pose with both of his arms out and the room we were in became pitch black. The ground and walls then lit up and showed images of what looked like galaxies. The bright rainbow of colors showed from the galaxies onto Mitchell, radiating him and making him look like some divine figure.
"I'm so glad you asked." I knew it, "Mitchell Scards, first rank in the Omniverse Conquest Program or OCP for short. I'm currently filling in for one of my co-workers as overseer of this omniverse, and you sir are an outlier."
"A What?"
What did he just say? Omniverse Conquest? What kinda shit is that? It sounds grand, wait, now that I think about it, isn't an omniverse infinite? How would one conquer something like that? The more I think about what he said, the more questions I have. I cleared my mind a bit before opening my mouth to ask one question.
"If what you said about conquering omniverses is true, wouldn't that mean there is an infinite number of me reincarnating?"
"Exactly! That's what I thought!" I blinked and he disappeared from my view. I looked around before feeling a hand on my right shoulder. I turned around and Mitchell was behind me, "That's why when I discovered you, I immediately scoured the rest of the omniverse to see if there was another universe just like this. But there wasn't!"
He disappeared from view again. He sounded extremely excited when speaking as his favorite series had finally received an update. However, if what he just stated is true, then he might be more powerful than I thought.
"When I went to question the author about the development, they were nowhere to be found. And while I could find the Author whenever I want, I decided to just find you instead. And here we are."
He spoke about such feats as if they were menial labor. At that moment, I felt the true difference in power between us. Not even someone like endgame Aaron could defeat this guy. I tried to swallow the saliva that had built up in my throat, but I couldn't. My mind screamed at me to run away, but I couldn't move my legs.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
I tried to open my mouth. I tried to speak, but only one word came out, "Why?"
"Hmm? Oh, I see, you're overtaken with fear for some reason. No matter." He waved his hand and a feeling of relief rushed through my body. I immediately felt at ease, as if my earlier troubles were nothing.
"Now, what were you trying to say?"
I opened my mouth to speak once more, "Thank you. Now if you don't mind me asking, why did you summon me?" I was afraid to ask, but I continued with my question, "Do you plan on erasing my existence or something?"
"Of course not! Why would I do that?" He looked at me dumbfounded as if my question made no sense. "If anything, I wanted to make your existence more powerful."
"I beg your pardon?" I asked incredulously.
Mitchell just waved his hand and a wall came up displaying names and descriptions of skills. The white wall was massive and showed hundreds of skills. Mitchell waved his hands once more and a stand popped up in front of me which had a keyboard and search bar on it.
"I understand the author made a ridiculously overpowered character as the MC of the novel you're in. I looked into it and as it stands right now, you could never hope to even touch that guy."
I felt a bit of sadness when he said that. I was working tirelessly in order to gain abilities and skills that would help me in the future. To be told that I would never be able to attain the same strength as someone else was heartbreaking, to say the least.
"However, you needn't fret, for you have me. I have compiled a full list of overpowered abilities I took from different characters in other verses."
He pointed to the wall, which had an abundance of overpowered skills I've seen in popular works. The list included an instant death ability, an auto dodge ability, and also an ability that gives divine protection. The list had so many abilities that it made my head hurt. Just how exactly did Mitchell manage to take such overpowered abilities?
"You may choose up to three abilities. Any more than that and Claire wouldn't forgive me, so go ahead and choose."
With that, he gave me free rein to pick my abilities. He walked over to the corner of the room and sat down crisscrossed. He waved his hand in front of his lap and a foot-long sandwich and a 2-liter of cola. I saw him move to take off his helmet, but he stopped and looked toward me.
"If you see my face, I will obliterate every trace of your being."
"Why? Are you ugly?"
"I designed this form with my very own hands, of course I'm not ugly. Now, get to choosing."
"Okay." I turned around immediately and began browsing abilities. Before using the search engine, I took time to browse through the 'Recommended' list. It gave some very good options to choose from.
I took a moment to think about what abilities I would need to flourish in this world. I don't exactly know why this Mitchell guy is giving me such great powers, but I will accept them greatly. Perhaps he will one day ask for my soul in return, but it would be hard to collect my soul if I chose immortality or regression-based ability.
As I thought of choices, I came upon an incredible first choice. An ability that will allow me to counter anything would be excellent. But an ability that could give me a perfect weapon would also be good. Ah, I got it, that will be my first choice.
Now that I had my first ability in mind, now all I need is to figure out the remaining two abilities. My second ability would have to give me an advantage in combat. I utilized my vast knowledge of novels, mythology, and works of fiction to arrive at a conclusion. A weapon-based ability would be great, but it would be better if I got the ability to increase my combat capabilities.
I decided to return to that ability later and will now focus on my third ability. The choice for this ability was obvious to me. I needed an ability that would allow me to see everything. Eyes that would allow me to peer into one's soul and show me their stats. Eyes that would allow me to see the future or past. Eyes that would even allow me to see the essence of the universe itself.
"I got it!" I exclaimed as loudly.
Mitchell was so startled that I heard him yelp and drop something. I almost turned around to see what he had dropped, but I recalled what he said earlier and refrained.
"Don't just yell like that! You scared the shit out of me!"
"Ah, sorry about that."
"It's fine," he sighed, "so I take it that you have chosen what abilities you've chosen?"
I smiled and excitedly proclaimed, "Yes I have."
