CHAPTER 4: THE EXPLANATION.

CHAPTER 4: THE EXPLANATION.

I shifted my eyes back to the blue screen and made my decision. And with a thought the class was selected, and a second later the blue screen vanished. A smile on my face after having picked something exciting, only for that smile to slide right off my face and one of horror to slip onto it. When I saw the light sage silently bleeding from the neck, a look of shock on his face as his mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. My father was staring at the monitors. The two guards stood passively by the door watching on like nothing in the world bothered them and the creepy man standing behind the light sage. He wiped a bloody dagger on the light sage's shoulder a few times before letting go of him and allowing the corpse to fall to the floor.

“Worry not about the good doctor, he was from a common class clan, and he heard way more than he should have. If he was left alive his clan would have banded together with a few others to attack our clan and kidnap you, then there would have been a civil war on who got to keep you. Better for everyone if this single man vanishes.” my father said without turning away from the monitors.

The creepy guy stepped away as the sage guard stepped forward a few steps, raising her hands in front of her. A spark of fire jumped from the left to the right hand, but halfway back to the left it split into two sparks and shot towards the corpse. By the time the sparks had reached the corpse, it had risen to hip height. The two sparks quickly started circling the body, burning wider and wider until it turned into a ball of fire. When it vanished, there was nothing left of the body, not even ash. The sage guard stepped back into position, lowering her arms.

“My lord, all evidence has been disposed of. The magic signature will linger for up to forty-eight hours.”

My dad nodded his head before turning to face me.

“Alright, Kenna, it's time to give you the details of what happened while you were in your coma. The young Miss Alison was shot in the shoulder. It was nothing serious and has been healed by an American light sage. The same light sage that happened to be working as a paramedic on the ambulance that responded to the mass shooting at your dormitory. He recognised the symbol on your necklace that I gave to you for your sixteenth birthday. He took immediate action without any hesitation. That part is from what young Miss Alison told us and the American light sages report. He used his healing magic to save you, even though his partner was a mortal. That mortal has since been initiated and brought into the American Light Sages clan. In thanks, our clan has offered the American light sage one favour to be used in any form he desires even if it is handed over to his common clan to use, as long as it doesn't go against our noble clan or our clans’ interests.”

He paused to watch me for a second, making sure I was still listening before continuing.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

“When you were declared stable, you were held in an American hospital. For fourteen hours. In which time you slipped into a coma and preparations immediately began to bring you home to Scotland. The family that was hosting you during your university years has been well compensated. After seventy-two hours in the coma your car, yourself, young miss Alison and that stain of a warrior who thought it would be a good idea to hunt in a noble clan’s temporary territory. Along with five knight squadrons. Was loaded onto one of our clans' cargo planes and flown home to Scotland. Your friend, young Miss Alison, is currently being housed in a secure mansion with seven-foot walls and roaming knight squads. She is continuing her studies via online lessons with the university. We of course are ensuring her safety and happiness, including chefs and cleaning staff. Whatever she wants is a call away.”

He paused, watching my face. I knew he was looking for any sign about whether he should toss Alison out or if he should welcome her in based on how close I was to her. When I didn't respond he continued, but I could hear the tone in his voice, still looking to find my verdict on Alison's’ circumstances.

“As for that stain, he is being detained in a clan-enforced jail under the same mansion. Yes, we can use our clan points on buildings and vehicles to bring them into the system. The only reason he is alive is that you, as the scion of the clan and victim of his assault, have not commented on his death or punishment yet. He is currently under the watchful eye of three knight squads, one watching via monitors. The second is roaming the jail block to keep eyes on everything and making sure no one tries to interfere, the last one is standing in key positions, with eyes on the prisoner at all times.”

He paused, looking at me before letting out his breath.

“Alright, last bit, think of the word status, and then I will explain to you what you are seeing.”

I couldn't help it, not that I had tried to stop it, the word status ran through my head so fast I didn't realise it, but the blue window popped up in front of me just as fast…

STATUS.

Name: Kenna Rowan Mackenzie

1. Clan: Mackenzie

Clan rank: P. Baron-Tak

Galactic Credits: 0

Class: Void Pilot

Titles:

Survivors guiding light.

Scion of clan Mackenzie.

“Bet you couldn't help yourself from thinking about it before I finished talking, huh?” he chuckled and then continued. “It is your basic gaming system. Name, clan, the class you chose and of course your active title or in the rare case titles. The last one is pretty obvious. Galactic credits are acquired by completing missions assigned by the system, trade or sales. These missions also earn clan points for our clan. You will notice that the clan has an N. in front of it, this is to designate that the clan is a noble clan to yourself and anyone using identity on you. If you were not part of a Noble clan, then you would see a C. to indicate a Common clan. Lastly, there are rumours that there is an R. out there somewhere to indicate a Royal Clan that rules over all clans of a planet. But I have never seen one, and I do have the identify ability. As for the P. In our clan rank, it indicates we are a planet Baron-Tak as opposed to something else that the system has not made us aware of yet, my guess is solar system or something similar. With that said, we have one last thing to talk about before I have to leave you to recover.”

He let out a long sigh as he watched me for a few seconds.

“How we are going to deal with the American common clan that offended us.”
