Prologue: A World Divided
It was more than 500 years ago. At the dawn of a scientific revolution, endless technological advancements were created without oversight. Without anyone to question if they should be made, or if they were ethical to begin with.
One man had the idea to clone an animal. Another had the idea to clone a Human. A third had the idea to mix animals and Humans together in the cloning process. This third idea spread all over planet Mobius like a wildfire. Everyone was creating hybrids with nobody to stop them. Thus, the Animoids were created.
Just as intelligent and just as flawed as Humanoids, the Animoids wished only to live alongside their creators. They didn't even ask for housing of any kind.
A few Humanoids enjoyed the presence of their new brethren. Most did not.
Before long, the Humanoids and Animoids grew increasingly aggressive towards each-other until they started murdering one-another. This useless fighting lead to a great war that devastated both sides of it.

Without seeing a peaceful solution, Mindor, first king of the Animoids, stole the Chaos Emeralds from the Humanoids. The ancient and powerful crystals that lead to the scientific revolution in the first place. Using their power, he etched a dividing line across the entire planet, halving the land that each species could step on.
Seeing the power that the Animoids now possessed, the Humanoids agreed to stay on their side of the line as long as the others did the same. Mindor was left discontent as to how the war ended, yet he was glad to end the suffering of both peoples. Shortly after, he was crowned as the first king of the Animoids. Now, Mindor is remembered as a heroic figure who ended up sacrificing everything for his love of all living beings.
However, one Human decided to cross the line in his endless search for the Chaos Emeralds. A mad scientist, consumed by his lust for power. Doctor Ivo Robotnik.
At first, Ivo came with a facade of peace. Then, he started growing his empire, enslaving all who approach it.
Yet, the Chaos Emeralds he seeks remain unfound to this day...
Then, there's Sonic the Hedgehog...
