An old man, at least sixty years of age, could be seen behind a desk with mountains of paperwork. He furrowed his brow, “Every time I blink it seems to duplicate...maybe I should stop blinking...” He placed a hand on his chin as he stared at his mortal enemy. “Hmm...it seems to be worki-WHERE DID THAT STACK COME FROM!?” He pinched the bridge of his nose, “I’m getting too old for this shit.”
A man clad in black lightweight armor flickered into the room, he immediately got down in a kneeling position, “Chief-Sama!”
The wrinkled elder looked down at one of his personal guards, “Rise, child. No need for such things when it’s only the two of us.” He stated.
The guard rose but kept his gaze to the floor. The elder sighed but continued, “Now, why are you here?” He asked curiously.
“It’s a matter about your wife, Chief-Sama. She has successfully given birth to your second heir...” The guard wanted continue but for some reason didn’t, unsure of how to state the next piece of information to the Village Head.
The elder noticed his uncertainty but decided to address it, “That’s good news, very good news...but somehow I think that there is more to it than just that.” His face was set in a hard gaze which perturbed the usually apathetic guardian.
“Hai, he...he is uhh...different?” The guard honestly didn’t know how to word it without worry that the Chief would take his life.
The Chief was usually a patient person but leaving him in suspense was bad for his heart...and whoever dared. “I don’t have all day! Spit it out!” He shouted in frustration.
“Please forgive me! Your heir has a pitch black vein that coils around his entire right arm and a little portion on his face.” Instantly after he finished he felt a vile, malicious bloodlust coming from the North, where the entrance to the village was. Being trained under the best he knew this killer intent could only be from an 'Awakened' , he looked to his superior for orders.
“Gather some tr—“ a loud roar was heard that was quickly accompanied by screams and shouts, “Gather all available guild members and have the guards escort the villagers to safety and have the 'Elite' to defend the village, tell the Council to help in holding off whatever that thing is, I’m going to get my family to safety before I come and help, GO!” Wordlessly, the man flickered out of the office.
The Chief looked outside where he could get a full view of the dragon that was leaving destruction and chaos in its wake, “I don’t think I’ll be able to...no, I shouldn’t think like that. I know you’ll always be watching over me.” He said with a sad smile before flickering to the Hospital.
“Chief-Sama! We heard the screams, what’s going on!?” The best medic, Shisua, asked what everyone was thinking.
“We are under attack but do not worry, our best warriors are handling it as we speak and I too will be providing backup.” His gruff voice replied with confidence. “I stopped by to see my son before I go,” he seen a hint of fear in her eye, “yes I heard about his ‘condition’.” She nodded and motioned for him to follow.
She led him to a room that was heavily guarded, upon seeing him approach they all bowed their heads and made way for him. He saw his wife breathing haggardly while she held something small that was wrapped in a blanket, “Have you decided on a name?” He asked softly, peering down at the infant’s face.
“Adonis...his name is Adonis Ulfnīr.” She smiled as the little one beamed a toothless smile.
“And here I thought you’d treat him differently because of his...illness.” The Chief was hit with a wave of killer intent, his wife flared at him with fury clear in her black eyes, “I wouldn’t even think of treating my own flesh and blood differently because of a stupid illness. Don’t ever suggest I would again, unless you want to lose your life, Ybris.” She proclaimed before she had a coughing fit.
He was going to apologize for his terrible sense of humor but his attention snapped to the right, his seal on his left hand was going haywire, alerting him that someone’s Aura that didn’t belong to this village was near.
His blood ran cold as he seen someone who he thought had died long ago, “How long has it been?...Otouto...” The man said, he must have been floating as they were on the fourth floor.
Fear coursed in Ybris’s body before it was quickly turned into anger, “How..How....DARE YOU SHOW YOUR FACE IN FRONT OF ME AFTER ALL YOU’VE DONE!?” He let his rage loose as his killing intent flooded throughout the Hospital.
Adonis started crying loudly while his wife tried to coo him back into slumber, “Dear, who is that man?....Otouto? He’s your brother?” She asked in a tone that was barely audible but Ybris had heard her perfectly.
“No, my brother died a long time ago. This is just some poor excuse of the man he once was.” He spoke with clear disdain for the man behind the glass window that was smirking.
“Your words cut deeper than any blade ever could...but I guess...you and father know all about that, don’t you?” his indirect comment at how he killed their father would hit hard, and he knew it.
“...Haella...I love you and our two children deeply...” His hand covered his left eye while he spoke, “I would do anything for you all to have a great life, free of worry, free of conflict, and free of my enemies...” Ybris’s hand glowed a golden white, signifying that he’s activating the seal, “So believe me when I say...That I would Gladly Give My Life For You Three.” He finished. His eyelid closed as a trail of blood trailed down his cheek.
His body then glowed the same golden light for a split second as his appearance changed. Ybris’s old wrinkled body was no more, now that stood in his place was a man that looked to be in his prime, his pure white hair that reached his back flowed freely even though there wasn’t any noticeable breeze, his full height which was 6’4 towered over the old man that was behind the thin glass.
Said old man only glanced up before giving a wide smile, “I see you’re taking this seriously...as you should,” The elder placed his hand over his chest before his body was wrapped in a light-red glow, when the light died down his body had also taken measurable changes. “So it’s only right I take it just as seriously.” His new and improved body ripped through the robes he once had on, leaving his bare chest that was well-toned and carved proudly on display for everyone under heaven to see. He grew from his previous height of 5’4 to a whopping 6’2, his body was lean and taut. “Oh and congratulations on your second Heir.” He chirped uncharacteristically.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“If you even think of hurting them I’—“
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. I don’t have plans of hurting them...well not him,” he pointed to Adonis, “I actually want to adopt him, after all, he’s cursed just like me. It’s only right if I take him under my wing and teach him how to harness the rage. Oh! And you’re other son-what’s his name?...ah! Aster? He’s having trouble fighting my pet, he might die if you don’t intervene soon...” The man with the mask covering all of his features except his mouth added.
Ybris gritted his teeth in anger, without another word he rushed the man, shattering the glass with ease as he threw a punch at his big brother’s throat. The masked man chuckled before he unsheathed his blade while dodging the punch that would surely crush his windpipe and slashed at Ybris’s flank. Ybris flipped over the blade and threw a kick to the man’s head, “Why do you attack the village Yuuta!? These people did nothing, your quarrel is with me!”
The masked man chuckled darkly as he dodged the kick and said, “Hien.” A sphere of dark matter formed above his head and started spinning wildly growing in size, “I promised that the next time you’d see me would be the day this village burns, AND I AM FULLY INTENT ON SEEING THIS VILLAGE’S DESTRUCTION!” The ball finally stopped rotating and flew towards Ybris at mach speed.
Ybris widened his eyes slightly at the sheer quickness but could still keep track of its movements, “Kientz!” He shouted and a golden dome formed around him, Ybris smirked as the Hien collided with his Kien but it quickly turned into a frown as the Hien bounced off and exploded part of the residential area.
Ybris looked back up at his brother only to see him panting heavily. Ybris quickly adopted a face of pure confusion, “Don’t tell me this is all you’ve got? You made me sacrifice my eye for this? Pathetic.”
Yuuta looked down at him with unhidden disappointment, “You should know better than anyone that my mana reserves are five times the size of a Chiefs’...or did all that time stamping papers mess with your memory?”
“What are you planning on doing?!” He shouted as his body absorbed the surrounding natural Yang, powering his body to withstand any sneak attacks that Yuuta might have set up prior.
Yuuta held up two fingers before he responded in a cold tone, “You have one of two choices. A: Give me Adonis-kun and I’ll leave peacefully...ish. B: Protect your precious village from the great destruction my Rūfuin will ultimately do, HOWEVER, if you choose B I will forcefully take my nephew and most likely end up killing your wife if she resists.” Yuuta then pointed upwards to the sky, A massive dome of Yin energy could be seen descending on to the village and no doubt something of that size will replace the Foundragan’s Keep with a crater.
Yuuta stared at Ybris’s shocked expression before he shouted impatiently, “CHOOSE! THE VILLAGE THAT SHAMED, RIDICULED, AND TORTURED ME DAY IN AND DAY OUT, OR YOUR SON! YOUR OWN FLESH AND BLOOD!” His shout snapped Ybris into action.
Pouring a minuscule amount of Yang into his palms he summoned his Terroraishins. He threw one of the two three-pronged sai’s into the room where his wife and child lay before flickering directly below the gigantic yin dome. His fingertips glowed and he started making hand sign, in the span of five seconds a total of 40 hand signs were made before he sucked in a large breath of air, ‘Starlit Beam!’ He shouted in his mind while releasing a blast of Yang energy into the Rūfuin.
It took a couple of seconds before the attack was countered, it exploded in mid-air and he released a breath he didn’t realize he was holding before teleporting to his Terroraishin, and seeing a sight that made his heart stop.
Yuuta had his son in his left hand while his right had his blade pierced through Haella’s chest, “This is all your fault. This could have been avoided, but no...you want to put this trash you call a Village first instead of your family. This...This is the reason I hated father...This is the reason I hate you.” He said as he pulled the katana out of her before beheading her. He called out, “Mirnoff! I got what we needed, we’re leaving.”
The dragon roared in reply and shot another controlled energy blast at some random soldiers, completely obliterating them and the area around.
“...Tou-san was right...you are too far gone, but as the leader I can not let you do as you please to the inhabitants of this village any longer. I only...I only hope Adonis will forgive me,” He stated with an impassive face before doing a few hand signs, a barrier covered the entire room, “This is the end of you, Yuuta!” He said as he charged forward with the Yang energies surrounding him, filling his coils to the max as he prepared to self-destruct.
Yuuta was dumbstruck when he very quickly caught on to what his little brother was about to do, “I-If you do that then you’ll no doubt kill the child, are you that obsessed with this village!?” He took several steps back before he felt his back hit the barrier. Mirnoff was outside trying to break through with strong swipes of its tails but it was all for naught.
“Remember I summoned two Terroraihshins...me and you are going somewhere far, far away.” He said as he grabbed ahold of Yuuta...only for him to disappear in a puff of smoke.
“A clo—“ Ybris sentence was cut short as Yuuta appeared behind him and stabbed him in the back, “H-how d-did you get th-rough my reflection s-s-seal??” Ybris asked while coughing up blood.
Yuuta decided to indulge him one last time, “This sword,” He ripped it out of him rather violently before gesturing to it, “was specifically made by me, with the sole purpose of killing you. After all these years, I’ve finally found a way around your Kami forsaken seals.”
Ybris looked shocked beyond belief. ‘A way around seals? Is such a thing even possible?’ As if hearing his thoughts Yuuta replied, “Oh I assure you otouto, there are ways. Nothing is absolute in this world.” After he finished his sentence Ybris slapped him, Yuuta just laughed at the pathetic state his kin was put in, “A slap? Really? Was that suppose to hurt?” He spoke in a mocking tone.
Ybris lost the hold on his mana and fell straight to the floor, his barrier deactivating. “Well it’s been nice brother, but I have a Village to ruin, Ja ne.” Yuuta said as he positioned his sword to decapitate Ybris.
Ybris smirked weakly, “Fool, don’t look down on the last Seal Master,” Although no one could see, Yuuta quirked an eyebrow at that. Ybris put his hand over his only eye and activated his last attempt at saving his Village, “Seal Transfer!” He didn’t need his eye sight to see if it worked or not as he heard an ear-piercing scream from his brother and an earth shattering roar from Mirnoff.
“WHAT DID YOU DO!!?” Yuuta shouted in rage as his cheek burned and was etched with a formation.
Ybris smirked grew a little wider, “What did you think that slap was for? You must’ve forgot how I place my seals onto sentient beings haha, which you just passed onto Mirnoff as well!
Ybris started to a long sequence of hand seals and yelled out "Seal of the Undead God!". When he did, a Shinigami appeared above him and reached for the dragon who was struggling to get away from the skinless hand, but was too late as the Shinigami reached inside dragon and Yuuta and ripped out both of their Yin chakra.
Yuuta screamed but quickly rebounded as he threw off his mask, revealing his bright red eyes. Ybris gasped at the sight. Yuuta shouted, “Mirnoff!” Gaining it’s attention, “Look into my eyes!” It complied and soon its eyes started reflecting Yuuta's crimson eyes before it slumped over, presumably unconscious.
With its Yin mana sealed inside Ybris the dragon was reduced in size, as Yuutai was reduced in power. Ybris used this chance to seal Mirnoff and yelled out "Hakke no Fūin Shiki" completely sealing the dragon in Adonis.
Ybris looked at his son with tears in his eyes "I'm sorry it had to be this way Adonis, I wish I could be here to protect you, but I hope the villagers treat you like the hero you are. Know that I will always be proud of you."
“You just condemned Adonis-kun to a life full of torment. All for the sake of the village, and you still sit here and try to be the good guy...you sicken me.” With their last words Ybris and Yuuta Ulfnīr died and their souls was devoured by the Shinigami.
This is the scene Onihc walked in on; Dead bodies, a crying baby, and destruction all around. He pieced together what had happened considering that the child still had the seal pulsing on his stomach.
"Well...Fuck." was all he could say.
