Nolan opened this cylindrical container which contained a roll of white paper. Nolan unrolled the scroll on the wide circular table in this room.
"There's something I want to show you all about."
The others' expressions turned curious; they then walked closer to this round table and looked at this white paper with black writing:
"April 20, 20xx.
A new alliance has been created; as the first member and founder, we will make this letter as written proof of its establishment."
Nolan smiled.
“We will sign this letter as founders and members of our alliance.”
Arlen propped his chin with his right hand as he thought.
“I don’t really understand but this might be a good idea.”
The others also agreed on this point. Nolan said.
“Good, but first we have to give our alliance a name first.”
They all looked thoughtful for a moment. Rothur replied.
“I don’t mind if the name of this alliance is Lantern.”
Nolan looked disapproving.
“Sorry, but I don’t agree. We have agreed that we will not use the name of our group, as a marker for us to still can separate our respective busines beyond the common interests of this alliance, and to make it easier for other parties to join and adapt.”
The man in the cloak replied.
“Alright then, has anyone thought of what name would be suitable for our alliance?”
The others fell silent and thinking. Arlen appeared to realize something.
“What if the conqueror? because we might conquer something?”
Rothur looked at Arlen with a deadpan expression.
“That name is very much to the point, too brutal.”
Arlen then akimbo as he smiled broadly. The man in the cloak said.
“How about The Journey? Because we are going on a journey to the Starless Region.”
The others appeared to disagree on this. Grimor said.
“Of course, but our goal isn’t just to go to the Starless Region. That name is too specific for one purpose.”
The cloaked man appeared to notice this as well.
“That’s right, let’s think of another name.”
Nolan appeared to realize something.
“What if S.E.A.?”
The attention of the others was drawn to Nolan. Arlen looked confused.
“S.E.A.? Mr. Nolan mean the sea like on earth?”
Nolan smiled.
“S.E.A. stands for “Space Established Alliance” because we built this in outer space, not a territory on any planet. This is also to show if any party who has the same opinion as the goals of this alliance can join, not be bound by any special provisions outside of that.”
The others were surprised to hear that, making Nolan a bit awkward.
“I’m sorry if my opinion is closely related to my personal experience forming a city running outside the planet.”
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
The others smiled and appeared to agree. Arlen said.
“Good name, I approve.”
Grimor said.
“I liked the origins of the name Nolan, so I agreed.”
The cloaked man replied.
“I agree with something new like that Nolan.”
Rothur nodded.
“That name isn’t too brutal, so I agree.”
Nolan smiled.
“Thank you everyone, then we have agreed.”
Nolan edited the writing on this paper using an ink pen and ink eraser.
“April 20, 20xx.
A new alliance has been created; as the first member and founder, we will make this letter a written proof of the Space Established Alliance's founding.”
They together then saw the contents of this letter and agreed. Nolan, Arlen, Rothur, Grimor, and the cloaked man signed this letter below the writing and stamped their signature with their thumbprints using their blood as ink. Nolan put this letter back in a metal cylindrical case and closed it.
“It’s best if you guys stay here for a while because maybe we still have business to finish.”
The others agreed with Nolan’s suggestion.
The time now shows 11:00 pm Earth time. Time was getting late; they were all still chatting with each other while drinking. Nolan is standing on the balcony while leaning forward on the glass railing with metal frames and glossy brown wooden handrails. Nolan looked ahead at the atmosphere of Ark-001’s city night view, which was still busy even though it was getting late, and flying vehicles were still quite a lot passing between the city buildings. But actually, Nolan was lost in thought and stared blankly at the view of the city before him. The others are playing a game similar to billiards, and Grimor reads a book. Rothur noticed Nolan’s state and walked towards Nolan. Rothur leaned forward on the railing next to Nolan, who didn’t notice Rothur’s arrival beside him.
“Is something bothering you, Nolan?”
Nolan came to his senses and turned to Rothur.
“Oh, I was just thinking about Uncle Vazarlo again.”
Rothur looked slightly surprised to hear that; his expression then turned gloomy.
“An unforgettable name not only because Uncle Vazarlo was close to us, but also because he is Vazarlo Roxel, the Legendary Wanderer.”
Nolan smiled, but there was sadness he was trying to hide. Rothur smiled, but his expression changed back to gloomy.
“I didn’t expect that day to be the last time we saw him.”
Nolan’s expression turned gloomy.
“That’s right, and Uncle Vazarlo’s last message to us is still fresh in my mind.”
Rothur looked slightly surprised.
“Is that still bothering you?”
Nolan nodded, his gaze fixated on the cityscape before him.
“Right, I don’t know what he meant by leave the hope of universe to us.”
Rothur’s expression turned confused.
“If I think about it again, his message at that time did not sound ordinary, even when I hear it again now.”
Nolan shook his head slowly.
“It’s a shame he isn’t here to explain.”
Rothur remembered something; his expression then showed if something was bothering him.
“Perhaps this has something to do with your powers?”
Nolan’s expression turned slightly surprised.
“In that case... It’s possible...”
Nolan remained expressionless. Rothur smiled and patted Nolan on the shoulder, causing Nolan to be a little surprised.
“It might have something to do with your powers, but you can already control it now.”
Nolan smiled.
The time was getting late, and each of them was still busy doing something different to one another. Nolan walked into the room.
“How about if tomorrow you guys take a day off? It would be a shame if you just missed the opportunity to have a vacation in Ark’s city.”
Arlen looks excited.
“Good idea, then tomorrow we’ll go on vacation!”
Rothur looked surprised at Arlen, then smiled.
This building's servants then escorted them to their respective luxurious rooms. The bed is on a higher floor surface which could be accessed by short stairs, a kitchen bar, a place to relax with a wide TV in the middle, a wardrobe, bathroom, toilet, and rows of tall glossy wooden framed glass double doors, automatic curtains, showing the beautiful night view of Ark city. Arlen, Rothur, Grimor, and the cloaked man are enjoying their room.
The next day, the morning atmosphere greeted Ark’s city, with the lights on the city’s ceiling being lit up to resemble the sun’s light. Arlen, Rothur, Grimor, and the cloaked man were having breakfast at the restaurant on one of the balconies of the skyscraper where they were staying. The restaurant has a partially shaded roof and a roofless one, with groups of tables with chairs facing each other, bordered by a purple hedge over rectangular plant beds. Their tables are in a row of similarly arranged groups of tables on the edge of a glass railing with metal frames and wooden handrails.
Mountains of food piled up on their table, and they ate breakfast while chatting. Only they eat in this restaurant, and several servants are on guard if needed. Rothur is reading the city guidebook for newcomers to Ark-001 city; his expression then turns confused.
“Hmm... there are many interesting places to visit.”
The cloaked man nodded.
“That’s right, it’s one of those cities with quite a lot of sightseeing and entertainment places.”
While still with his mouth full, Arlen replied.
“Then we’ll just go over them all.”
Rothur looked at Arlen with a deadpan expression. Grimor is also reading the same guidebook.
“Let’s just try to go to as many places as we can.”
The others looked to agree. After breakfast, they got up from their seats and walked to the wharf to board the provided flying vehicles, the same as yesterday. Their vehicles then flew away steadily.
The first place they came to was a huge, three-level, modern-style shopping mall filled with various humanoid races. They shopped for various items such as clothes, etc. Now, each of them wore casual clothes: short-sleeved shirts, knee-length shorts, hats, and sandals, with the man in the cloak still overlapping his clothes with the cloak, mask, gauntlets, and boots. Rothur looked at the cloaked man in astonishment.
“You’d better relax a bit and take off your armored cloak and equipment.”
The cloaked man shook his head for a moment while crossing his arms.
“This equipment is too precious; I can’t carelessly leave it or entrust it to someone even for a while.”
