I once heard a halfway decent drawer–illustrator? Unfortunately the drawer has not offered any insight–give advice. Spend just a little bit of time, he said, trying draw the best picture you possibly can. Don't draw eight, ten hours every day. You know the type of person who does, and they don't improve much for all that drawing. Just half an hour or an hour, trying to draw the best picture you possibly can. Put everything you have into it.
Stolen novel; please report.
Ahhhhhhh! How do you put everything into a drawing, what does that even mean? How do you draw without copying? Why don't I have any talent? I moan and begroan. I can't draw well! Ahhhhh!
So that's the state of things. As I have little time, talent or passion, I'll have to draw casually, with no expectation, and do it every day. Personally, the minute expectations play a role self-commitment becomes a kind of torture. Self-criticism needs to have limits, or there'll be nothing left to criticize. "That which is light..."
Moving on.
