Chapter 6: Abyss

Chapter 6: Abyss

Chapter 6: Abyss

Time passed, and in the blink of an eye, three months flew by. These three months were spent training. Through the method of the Chaos God, I broke down my body, as well as the core which had formed inside me, then healed it, again and again, strengthening it further.

This was the second stage of the ‘Chaos God Technique’. The ‘Chaos God Technique’ was divided into six stages. The first two stages, strengthened the body, first, by strengthening the Chaos Energy, which came from the ‘Chaos God Technique’. The Chaos Energy would naturally make my body much stronger. Then when the Chaos Energy had reached a high enough level, where my body could easily withstand it, the first stage was finished.

The second stage, strengthens the body even further, by directly infusing it with Chaos Energy. In the first stage, you didn’t infuse the body with Chaos Energy, you only increased it, but since the Chaos Energy is very chaotic, you needed a strong body, or it would be destroyed. By increasing the Chaos Energy, and letting your body handle it, it naturally gets stronger and stronger, until it can easily handle the Chaos Energy.

Only, such a method is impossible for anyone to train in, except if you have an unnatural recovery ability, like I do, as the body would get ravaged to death.

Then when that’s done, you infuse the energy into the body, strengthening the body, as well as the Chaos Core further. The Chaos Core, was precisely that core in the body, which was being compressed by the Chaos Energy.

Infusing the body with Chaos Energy, would rapidly make you stronger, but would destroy the body even more than before. Thus, it was a very painful procedure, only, because the energy is completely contained in the body, it won’t cause as much chaos in the surroundings as before.

After stage two was finished, my body would be so strong and tough that the recovery ability would almost be obsolete, since it would be very hard to harm me. At least, on my own level, it would be impossible for anyone to pierce my skin. But that was only when the second stage was completed.

Like that, I spent three months, training in the ‘Chaos God Technique’, and waiting for Amelia to return. And the day had finally come, as Amelia was finished with her mission.

“Isaac, you’re back!” She exclaimed, as she saw me, then quickly ran up to me and hugged me. I hugged her back,

“I’m sorry for being away for so long. I know that this was supposed to be the time where we could finally be alone together, but then I go into seclusion training for ten years,” I said, apologizing for not taking care of her. Amelia shook her head,

“No, no, you needn’t worry. I also spent a lot in seclusion training, the past ten years. After all, we’re already so old, yet we only now became cultivators. We had a lot of catching up to do,” Amelia said with a smile,

“Indeed you did do a lot of training. You’ve already reached the late Saint level. I reckon you’re the strongest in our clan by now, not including me,” I complemented. Amelia just chuckled at me,

“Indeed, I probably am, but if Erwin, Lilia and the others also got a cultivation technique that matches them, they would reach this level quickly. After all, we reached our current strength without cultivating, so it’s only natural to gain strength quickly in the beginning. I reckon, it will be a lot slower, from now on,” she said.

“Yes, it won’t be as easy all the time. I completed the first stage of the ‘Chaos God Technique’, but the second stage is far slower. Only the first part is so quick. But in the future, we do indeed need to bring the others here. Our clan can’t keep staying in the outskirts forever after all,” I said. We continued to chat for a while, then went into our bedroom, to have some much needed ‘fun’.

It had been over ten years, since we last had sex, so we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves for an entire night.

The next day, a meeting was held, between all the Martial Elders, as well as the Supreme Elders. In the Sword Hall, several hundred people were gathered. In front of these several hundred people, were five more people, giving off a fierce aura. These, were exactly the Five Supreme Elders.

The meeting was talking about the result of the previous three months of battle, between the sects. By now, most sects had joined one side or the other, and fighting was slowly starting.

So far, there hadn’t been many battles, or casualties, the two sides were set in stone. It had also been confirmed that the Demon Sect was behind the other side. All in all, forty percent of the sects were on our side, fifty percent on their side, and the last ten percent didn’t join any sides, and were unrelated.

These sects were all the most secretive sects, which barely ever showed themselves. They had all decided to stay out of the war.

Garmond, the first Supreme Elder,

“As you all know, a great war is about to begin. His Majesty, the Sword Master, Assiel, has yet to wake from his slumber, so it falls unto us to win this war. Therefore, I hereby declare that for all disciples and elders alike, it is forbidden to exit Sect Grounds, without permission. The Elite Disciples will also go into seclusion training, for the next ten years! We will fully utilize the Sacred Ground, so that they can increase in strength as quickly as possible, and became Elder level figures. Quickly, go dispatch the orders, and ready yourselves for missions. All Elders will be required to partake in the battles,” he said, shocking all the elders.

Usually, the Sacred Ground would only be used by the top ten disciples, and only once in a hundred years! But now, every single Elite Disciple would enter the Sacred Ground, and go into seclusion training for ten years!

Normally, it was only ten disciples, but now it would be several thousand! It made me wonder if they would even fit, but what I didn’t know was that even if a million disciples were to enter the Sacred Ground, it wouldn’t matter. The Sacred ground was huge, and millions could fit in there, but if you put that many in, the benefits would be too small.

The Sacred Ground was a place, which Assiel, himself, found back when he founded the Sword Sect, many thousand years ago. In this Sacred Ground, the energy, or mana, was at a much higher level, and you would cultivate much faster.

After the war meeting, all the Elite Disciples were put into seclusion training, where they would train for ten years. Ten years in there, could equal over a hundred years of cultivation on the outside, or even more! Only, the energy in there wasn’t infinite. After these ten years, it would most likely be useless for maybe even a thousand years, before the energy recharged.

Meanwhile, I was going to the skill pavilion. Back then, I had only chosen myself a cultivation technique. Now I was going to find a sword technique. Sure, I had trained my sword for a few hundred years already, but I never had a real sword technique, which uses energy.

Back then, when I did all those energy waves, with a swing of my sword, it was still only ‘Energy Manipulation Magic’, and the sword was truly only for show. But if I could find a good sword technique, then my might would grow even higher.

In the Skill Pavilion, I directly went up to the top floor. Once more, I began looking through those several tens of scrolls and books, looking for a suitable skill. Many of them were cultivation skills, but there were also several sword techniques, spear techniques, knife techniques, etc.

I looked through all of them.

‘Heavenly Sword Art’, ‘Two Bladed Sword Style’, ‘Shadow Sword Technique’ and many others.

However, I still felt like something was lacking, while I walked from skill to skill. I even started looking and the knife and spear techniques, but I preferred the sword. It was much more versatile than a spear, or knife, as it had longer reach than a knife, and was easier to handle in close quarter combat, than a spear.

Suddenly, I noticed something. One of the bookshelves, was actually inclined, by a tiny, unnoticeable amount. If it wasn’t for my superior vision, I would have never noticed it. Curious, I went to the other side of the bookshelf. Indeed, the bookshelf wasn’t touching the floor, by a tiny minuscule amount. I tried pushing the bookshelf to the side, and what I saw surprised me. There was a small compartment in the floor, which had caused the bookshelf to incline.

I opened the compartment, and inside, there was an old, ragged book. The compartment was full of dust, and it looked like the compartment hadn’t been opened in millennia. I grabbed the buck, and blew the dust off, making a large cloud of dust.

There wasn’t even a name on the front page, and it was bound in leather. I grabbed the book, and dusted it off, creating a large cloud of dust. I opened the book, and saw the name.

‘Abyss Sword Style’

Just the name had a menacing ring to it. I decided to quickly read through it the book, and as I saw the contents, I had immediately decided. From what I could gather, the ‘Abyss Sword Style’ originated from the Abyss Sect, but I had never heard of it before. I was certain that it wasn’t a sect in the Sword Continent, as knew just about all of them.

I immediately stored it in a pocket, inside my jacket, and went back down again. As I was very curious about this Abyss Sect, and the ‘Abyss Sword Style’ I decided to go look for Garmond, as he was the oldest, and most knowledgeable of the Supreme Elders.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

After looking around for a while, I finally found him.

“Elder Isaac, what brings you here?” He asked.

“I have come to ask you something. Have you ever heard of the Abyss Sect?” I asked. Garmond had a slightly surprised look on him.

“No, I have never heard of it. At least, it’s not a sect here on the Sword Continent, that’s for sure. Why do you ask?” He replied.

“No, it’s nothing, I just came upon some text that mentioned it. I was just curious. I will take my leave now,” I said, as I turned around and left, before Garmond could ask any further. For now, I didn’t want him to know about this ‘Abyss Sword Style’.

I decided to wait for the day Assiel would wake up, and ask him then. I suspected that the only person who would know about this sword style, would be him. That compartment was so well hidden that I suspected Assiel himself, had put it there.

Back at my residence, I immediately found myself an empty room, and started practising the ‘Abyss Sword Style’. I had to admit, even for me, it was a very complicated technique. I continuously swung my sword, in accordance with the manual, but I could never get it to look like the pictures shown in the ‘Abyss Sword Style Manual’. All I could do was persevere, and continue.

Thus, ten years passed, where I trained the ‘Abyss Sword Style’ for half the day, and cultivated in accordance with the ‘Chaos God Technique’, before something finally changed. I felt something change in my body, as my core changed, and the energy in my body evolved. After I went into seclusion training, back then, to train the ‘Chaos God Technique’ I had reached the peak level rather quickly, only it took much longer to perfect the first stage. Thus, since I reached the peak stage of the Saint level, I had spent almost twenty years, in constant training, and now I had finally broken through! Only, the ‘Chaos God Technique’ was still only in the second stage.

As for the ‘Abyss Sword Style’ I had just perfected the first stage as well, after practising for ten full years. In fact, it was that, which triggered my breakthrough, into the Mythical Saint level!

Immediately, in a burst of excitement, I manipulated the energy in body, and started floating. I was standing in mid-air, without the use of my wings! It was truly a spectacular feeling.

As for reaching the early Mythical Saint level, it meant I finally had the might of an early stage Legendary Saint! Only, I knew I was still no match for that Demon Master, as he was a peak stage Legendary Saint! At most, I would be able to handle a middle Legendary Saint, due to my body, but I wasn’t confident in beating him, except if I used the ‘Ruler of the Night’ ability, to shed my corporeal body, or went into my true form.

As for right now, it was time for yet another war meeting. We had decided that once every year, all the elders of the sect would gather for a war meeting, and this year was even more special, since the Elite Disciples were coming out of seclusion training.

When I arrived at the Sword Hall, only the Supreme Elders were there, and they were all looking at me with astonished expressions.

“Elder Isaac, you had a breakthrough?!” Nana asked excitedly. Amelia behind me chuckled, as I nodded my head with a smirk.

“Now I reckon I could even fight against a mid-level Legendary Saint, without losing. If I were to use my ultimate technique, I could even win. Yet, the Demon Master is still too high above, and I reckon I would need several hundred years to reach that level. Reaching this level in almost twenty years, was only a nice after effect on starting to cultivate so late.” I said, as I walked up to the other Supreme Elders. Amelia stood below, where all the Martial Elders would be, as she wasn’t permitted to stand with the Supreme Elders. Even then, she was still the Martial Elder with the most status, as she was my wife, and amongst Martial Elders, she was the strongest as well.

In fact, she was even qualified to be a Supreme Elder, as her true strength was that of a mid-level Mythical Saint, due to transcending three stages, but she wanted to stay as a Martial Elder for a while longer.

If she was to decide to become a Supreme Elder, she would immediately take the position of fifth elder, as she was stronger than the current fifth elder. All the others, were at the middle stage, or above.

As the tenth annual war meeting was finished, the results from the last ten years of war had been decided.

Amongst the various sects on our side, over a hundred thousand disciples had died. The precise number on the Demon Sect was unknown, but it should be slightly larger than our own side, but they still outnumbered us.

As for elders, collectively, around 150 elders were dead on our side, and around two hundred on their side.

As for the casualties on our side, about one thousand disciples died, and two elders. The elders would most of the time survive on both sides, as the elders went on missions in small squadrons, so the fights weren’t as large scale, and they would often manage to escape, but they had to use many treasures.

Suddenly, just as the meeting had ended, a disciple had rushed into the Sword Hall.

“Lords, I bring grave news!” the disciple said, as I kneeled. Garmond looked at the disciple with a slightly worried look.

“Speak!” He ordered. The disciple raised his head to speak,

“In this recent battle between two thousand disciples of the two sides, our side was completely destroyed! The few survivors who made it back, brought grave news. The Demon Sect has deployed Mythical Saint level experts, and three of them!” he reported. There was an astonished look on everyone’s faces. In these ten years, not a single battle between mythical saint level experts had appeared, but now they used three of them, in a battle of disciples and Martial Elders, as well.

“Is this true?” Garmond asked with a grave expression.

“Yes, it was one of the surviving Martial Elders who reported the news,” he answered,

Suddenly, as he said that, a blur flew into the Sword Hall. The person who appeared, was Ley, of the Lin Sect! He didn’t even wait, before he started talking,

“You heard what the youngling said, but that is not all there is to it!” He immediately spoke. Garmond, the leader of the Supreme Elders, looked at him in confusion.

“Brother Ley, what do you mean?” he asked. Ley had a grave expression, as he spoke,

“My brother and I were the first to hear of it, so we rushed to the battlefield, to handle those Mythical Saints. Never would we have imagined they were peak Mythical Saints. Through using die or live methods, they managed to trap my brother in seal formation, but they didn’t kill him. Instead they told me that if I were to bring Isaac to them, alone, then they would release him, but we can’t bring Isaac into a trap! He’s the biggest trump card we have!” Ley spoke in one breath.

“Its fine, I can go,” I said, making Ley, as well as all the Martial Elders, minus Amelia, shocked. Only the Supreme Elders had a calm smirk on their faces.

“Haven’t you noticed? I have already broken through, and have become a Legendary Saint level expert. There are only that many peak level Mythical Saints, and with my strength and body, I reckon I could handle between fifty and a hundred peak Mythical Saints. After all, they don’t expect me to be this strong,” I said. As Ley noticed, a huge smile appeared on his face.

“Congratulations, Brother Isaac! This is, this is truly spectacular! Indeed, like this, they surely won’t be a match for you, and you can easily trick them, by suppressing your aura. Alright, like this, I don’t mind letting you walk right into this trap, as it will be turned right against them!” Ley spoke with confidence.

“Indeed, this is actually a very good opportunity. To deal with Isaac, they are going to have most, if not all the peak Mythical Saints of their side present. This will give us a huge advantage,” Garmond said.

“Alright, it’s decided! Brother Ley, bring me there!” I said. Ley excitedly nodded,

“Yes, let’s go right away, it’s a bit of a distance to fly,” Ley said, as he turned around. I immediately followed him out. A moment later, we were soaring through the skies, going to a clear as daylight trap, for the sake of using all the advantages it brings.
