Chapter 25: Leaving the Village
As he ever so often was, Isaac sat in his office, letting the brush flow on the canvas. Suddenly a knock resounded through the room, coming from the door. “Come in.” Isaac said, emotionlessly. He was focusing on his painting, so he didn’t care much about who had come. The man who came in was a shadowy figure. He was one of the Master Assassins.
“Lord Isaac, one of the assassins that were sent to follow your nephew, has come back with a report.
Apparently, Little Isaac has decided to stay with a small family of four in a village, and has told them of his true nature.” The assassin reported. Isaac was slightly perplexed. Why would he stay with a small family in a village, and even tell them his true nature? Well, it shouldn’t matter too much. Even though Little Isaac is very much still a child, he is still capable of being serious and upholding his responsibilities. It should be fine.
“Why would he do that? Probably can’t be bothered to hide it. Anyways, for now just keep an eye on him and the family, but if they let anything slip, then you slaughter the village. Well, that’s probably what Little Isaac would do as well, if they tell anyone. He might still be a bit of a child, even after all this time, but he isn’t stupid. But just in case that he doesn’t do it, then you’re the fall back. Just make sure that the news of vampires never leaves that village.” Isaac said. The assassin saluted and replied with a “Yes Lord Isaac.”
After the assassin left, Isaac returned to his painting. This painting was of the ten year old Alexander. By now, Isaac was extremely skilled at painting. The painting seemed so realistic, as if the boy himself was standing there, on the canvas. Isaac was very passionate about art, in fact, most vampires were. There was a countless number of paintings and sculptures in Sanguine Regis, all made by vampires. In the warehouses, there were even more. Many of these paintings were shipped off and sold at auctions, or just in stores and shops.
1st person, Little Isaac.
After Katy had finished showing me around the village, we returned to their home. In the memories of my childhood, there were slight memories of similar scenes, but they were all hazy. After all, I was made into a vampire at the age of six. In the home of the Dunler family; that was their name by the way, we returned to the table. Lucy had made a pot of tea, so we were about to have us a little snack. While we were drinking tea, my face got serious for a bit.
“By the way, you now you can’t ever tell anyone that I’m a vampire right? If you do, then if I don’t kill everyone in the village, then Uncle will surely have sent someone. In fact, I’m sure that he will know that I told you very soon, and he probably sent a few assassins to tail me. Don’t worry though, they are only there to keep an eye on me. They might drink the blood of some of the villagers though, if they are vampires." I said. The Dunler family got very worried for a moment, but they calmed down pretty quick, since they just had to not tell anyone about me. Not that they could, since I had hypnotized them. If they tried to tell on me, they wouldn’t even be able to speak. The only reason I even told them about me is because I can’t be bothered to hide the fact that I’m a vampire. It’s much easier if they just know, and then I have a good source of food as well.
“Don’t worry, I promise that we won’t tell anyone.” Coyle said, very seriously.
“That’s good. So far I kinda like you guys! You were nice to me and offered me a place to stay. By the way, I have no idea how long I’ll be here, but it might be a few days, or even a few years. Is that okay with you guys? Of course, if you ever need anything, like money, then you can ask me. I have a bit of money on me.” I said. I was quite excited to try out the village life. Almost my entire life, I had lived in that castle, in seclusion. Sometimes I would go to the village, or later town, but I didn’t quite fit in there. I find it a bit weird that Alex doesn’t mind at all. Maybe it’s because he was born as a vampire, so it’s different. But here, there is no huge castle, and they don’t know what I am. Except for the Dunlers.
After we finished the tea, it was quite late, at least in their standards, so we went to bed. Or at least Katy and I did. They really did treat me like a child, that they were babysitting or something. Of course that was under my own request. When I grew up in the castle, no one ever ordered me around, so I thought it’d be fun, to try and live as a normal child for a while. Thus we were put to bed. They insisted that I should have the bed, but as the gentleman I am, I would have no such thing! I couldn’t let Katy sleep on the floor. Therefore, Katy slept on the bed, while I slept on a mattress on the floor. Katy was a bit shy to be sharing her room with a boy, but she fell asleep quickly, as did I.
The next morning, when I woke up, I felt rather thirsty. I hadn’t had anything to drink for a few days, so it was about time. I crept out from under my blankets, and crawled over to Katy’s bed. I lightly shook her, to wake her up. She looked at me with weary eyes.
“What is it?” she asked tiredly. It took her a while to realize that it was me, but when she noticed, she was slightly started for a while, but then she remembered.
“I’m thirsty.” I said. Katy sat up on her bed.
“Then let’s go down stairs and get you something.” She said with a smile, as if she was my big sister. Well, in this scenario, she would be the big sister, since she was thirteen years old, while my body was twelve. But she seemed to have misunderstood me.
“Not that kind of thirsty. You know, the other kind.” I said, as I showed her my fangs. She was startled, again, but then she remembered.
“Oh right. Is it really not gonna hurt?” She asked, slightly worried. I got up on the bed, and sat next to her.
“I promise, it won’t hurt.” I said. She hesitated a bit, but then pulled down the collar on her pyjamas. I grabbed her shoulders and hugged her. Then I licked the spot on her neck, where I was going to bite. Slowly, I let my teeth touch her skin, until they penetrated her, and went inside her neck. She let a small moan out, as her blood started flowing into my mouth. She let herself fall on the bed. Then the sound of an opening door resounded. The one who opened was Lucy, the mother. When she saw us, she almost screamed, but then she remembered, and calmed down. I was about finished as well, so I stood back up.
“Good morning.” I said with a smile. Katy got up as well, and touched her wound, which weirdly didn’t hurt at all.
“That actually felt pretty good.” She said. Lucy rushed over to her, to check on her.
“Are you okay?” She asked.
“I’m fine, it didn’t hurt at all, and it felt very good.” She said.
“Don’t worry, it isn’t dangerous. She might feel a bit light-headed though, since she lost a bit of blood. Oh, and you should probably cover the wound when you go out. It’ll heal pretty soon though.” I said, with a smile on my face. Katy nodded in response, while still holding her wound with her hand. There was a moment of silence, but then Lucy spoke up.
“Anyways, breakfast is ready, so come on downstairs.” She said, breaking the silence. We got off the bed, then went downstairs, where there was already food on the table. While eating dinner, I noticed that they were still tense. Well, I can understand that. Some random kids just waltzed into their home, then says he’ll stay there for a while, after telling them he’s a vampire. Who wouldn’t be tensed? But I was intent on doing this. While I might get to experience the exhausting life of a villager, I’ll still get to do some villager work. There’s no way that villager work will be able to exhaust me though.
“Tonight we’re having that Tri-Horned Deer you caught, for dinner. If any of the other villagers found out, they would be so jealous. The Tri-Horned Deer is very tasty.” Coyle said. They were all excited to eat the Tri-Horned Deer, but it wasn’t much to me. In the forest where Sanguine Regis resides, there are many monsters, and the strongest are at the B rank. Believe me, they are very tasty. After breakfast was over, I had them give me some work. They were very hesitant, but under my pressure, they had to give in. First, I cleaned the house with Katy and Lucy, which didn’t take long, then Coyle took me to his workplace. He’s the village chief, so he was in charge of the village. First, he had been hesitant on taking me with him, but then he remembered that I’m actually fifty six years old, so I might be able to help him. And of course, I was more than capable of helping him. Living in Sanguine Regis for fifty years, I hadn’t just been wandering about, doing nothing. I had my fair share of responsibilities from time to time, so I was even better than Coyle at managing things, so when the day was over, many problems had already been solved. Coyle of course, was breathless. Like that, I spent three months living with the Dunler family, but now I was starting to notice some weird behaviour in Katy. She wasn’t speaking as much as she used to, and kept away from me more. It wasn’t that she was on her period or something, I would be able to smell that, but it was something else. Whenever I spoke to her, she would blush, and sometimes even stammer. Yes, it was that. She had fallen for me. This all began after I stayed with them for three months, and continued from then onwards. At that time, I wasn’t too interested in her, but over the nine months, she started getting cuter and cuter, and whenever we talked, I would be very happy. Her blood also seemed to taste better. Yes, it was on her fourteenth birthday that I realized, I had also fallen for her.
One night as we were about to go sleep, I decided confess. I wasn’t some ignorant coward that wouldn’t realize he had fallen for someone, and wouldn’t even dare confess, so I decided to do it right away. I was pretty sure that she liked me as well anyways. I crept out from my bed, and into hers. Sometimes we would sleep together, especially after I fed from her, so it wasn’t too weird, she just expected that I wanted to drink, but this time, it was different. I looked her in the eyes.
“You like me right?” I asked her nonchalantly. Her face went red as a tomato.
“Wha-wha-what are you t-talking about?” She asked shocked and clearly nervous. I smiled at her then kissed her on the mouth.
“A few days ago, on your birthday, I realized that I loved you. This is the first time I’ve loved anyone in my long life.” I said. Now her face became even redder, then she buried her face under her blanket, making some muffled sounds.
“Well?” I asked her. Her eyes crept from out under the blanket.
“I’ve loved you for months now, dummy.” She said. I kissed her again, then said “I know.” She was even more embarrassed when she heard that.
“What, really? You knew all along?” She nearly screamed in my face.
“Yup, but I didn’t have any feeling for you back then. It’s only recent that I fell in love with you. But since I love you, you know what that means right?” I said to her. She looked in my eyes for a while, keeping the silence, then she nodded.
“You’re going to make me into a vampire right?” She said. I caressed her cheeks then nodded. I kissed her neck, then bit into her, draining all of her blood, until there was almost nothing left. Then I released my blood poison into her, causing her body to change. She fell unconscious on the bed. Since she was just a normal vampire, she would only need one body of blood, so I quickly exited the house, then found someone and brought them back. The person I brought seemed to be a teenage boy, around sixteen years old, maybe seventeen. I just brought the first lone person I saw. As they both were unconscious, I waited. An hour later, Katy finally opened her eyes. She was surprised to see the unconscious boy on the floor.
“You need to drink his blood and kill him.” I said. Katy looked at me shocked.
“I need to kill him?” She asked. I nodded in return. I walked over to her, then grabbed her hand.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
“It’s fine, he’s just a human. You’re a vampire now, so it’s fine. Every single vampire has to go through this, it’s a rule; the law of vampires. I killed two women when I was made into a vampire, at the age of six. I haven’t killed many since then, since I spent all my time in the castle though. I promise, when you’ve drunk his blood and killed him, you won’t regret it. Blood will be the tastiest thing you’ve ever tasted.” I said. She was still hesitant, but she did go over to the body nonetheless.
“Alright, I’ll do it for you, so that we can stay together forever.” She said, then let her teeth sink into the flesh of the boy. Moments later, the boy was completely white in complexion; completely dead. I smiled, as I walked over to her, then kissed her, and licked any leftover blood from her mouth. Then we stood up again, and I burned the body completely, even the ashes were burnt, not leaving a single trace of the dead boy.
Then we got back into bed, and started kissing. After a while of kissing, we started stripping down, then had sex, consummating our relationship. A few hours later, we were cuddling naked. Even though I was in the body of a twelve year old, I didn’t lack anything down there. That was the only adult part of me, and luckily so.
“There’s one thing you should know. You won’t be able to bear the sunlight anymore. You’ll have to stay in the dark, but apparently, in the future you’ll be able to bear the sun again. I don’t know how long though.” I said.
“That’s fine, as long as you stay in the dark with me.” She said with a heart-warming smile.
“That’s a given. All vampires prefer the dark, Pureblood or not. Even Pureblood vampires are uncomfortable in the light, which has been the hardest part of staying here, but now I’ll get to enjoy the darkness again. I don’t want to leave this place yet, so we should tell the other villagers that you got some disease, so you can’t stay out in the sun.” I said. After that we talked for a while, then had sex once more, then went to sleep.
The next morning, Lucy was more than surprised when she came to wake us. She could clearly see us two sleeping together, completely naked. She even saw some white liquid flowing out of Katy’s lower area. She ran over to us, and shook us awake.
“Kids, please cover yourselves!” She shouted at us. She wanted to be angry, but she didn’t dare to, and secretly, she was even happy, since if Katy married me, then it would be very good for their family. As we woke up, we slightly panicked and covered ourselves.
“Okay, before we continue, let me ask. Katy, were you willing to do this?” Lucy asked. Katy blushed, but then nodded.
“That’s good.” Lucy replied, then she walked over to the window, about to open the curtains.
“Wait, stop!” I shouted at her, startling her.
“Katy won’t be able to stay in the sun anymore. I made her into a vampire, like me, but she isn’t a Pureblood like me, so she’s very weak to the sun right now.” I said. Coyle was walking past as I said that, so he heard and immediately came inside the room. When he saw us, I think his heart might have broken, since he saw his daughter naked with a man, or boy in this case.
“D-did they?” he asked, his voice quivering. Lucy looked at him with a pitiful look.
“Yes, yes they did. And Katy’s also a vampire now, so we have to get used to that. Wait, Isaac, since she’s a vampire she won’t age anymore right?” Lucy said, looking at Isaac.
“No, she won’t, so in a few years, we’ll both leave. We’ll probably stay here for at most two years, before we leave. But well, I could also turn you guys, if you want to.” I said. Lucy and Coyle looked at each other for a while, before they smiled at each other.
“No, I think we’ll stay human for now. Maybe you can have Katy come back in ten years, then she can turn us, if we want it then.” Coyle said. Katy looked at her parents, a bit sad.
“I’ll come back in the future to personally turn you mom and dad.” She said. Coyle and Lucy looked caringly at their daughter, whom they now would never see grow up.
“Anyways, breakfast is ready, so get yourself cleaned and dressed. Especially down there young woman. I hope you don’t get pregnant.” Lucy said teasingly, but before she left I said,
“Don’t worry about that, vampires can’t get pregnant, except if they use a spell to conceive a child.” The parents seemed relieved as they left. Having a child at that age, was just a bit too early. After that, I got dressed, while Katy was cleaning herself down there. Moments later, we went downstairs to have our breakfast, which was now obsolete for both of us.
A few days later, we announced to the village that Katy had gotten some rare disease, so she couldn’t stay out in the sun anymore. The entire village came to give their condolences, and they were all quite surprised to see the changes in Katy’s appearance. She was very pale now, as white as snow, contrasting her pitch black hair. Her body proportions had increased slightly, but she still looked like a fourteen year old girl. Even though she had become such a beauty, the mood was dark, at least for the other villagers. We were just acting as if we were mortified.
After that, we spent our time in peace, enjoying the village life, although we were mostly up at night now, instead of the day. To the villagers, it seemed natural that I would stay up at night as well, since I was like the best friend of Katy, although, in reality we were lovers. But it was time to leave. It was starting to get weird that I hadn’t aged. In their eyes, I should be about fifteen years old, yet I only looked like a twelve year old boy. The sixteen year old Katy still looked like a fourteen year old. She hadn’t aged at all since she became a vampire. The thing about children being turned was still quite the mystery. It seemed like either, only Purebloods aged a little bit if they were turned as a child, or you just didn’t age after you turned twelve or something.
Anyways, we were now preparing to leave. In the eyes of the villagers, I was taking Katy with me home, where she could live an easier life, but in reality we were just leaving because we couldn’t stay any longer. And we weren’t going back to Sanguine Regis just yet. The Dunler family and I were standing in front of the front door. We had a few bags with us. Katy had some of her clothes and things that were important to her, and I also had some clothes, as well as souvenirs and things that I held dear. Coyle stood there sternly, while Lucy had tears in her eyes.
“Isaac, please take good care of my daughter, and also yourself. I wish you a good journey, wherever you might go.” Coyle said. Lucy couldn’t say anything since she was crying. Katy also let a tear slip, before she hugged her mother and father goodbye.
“Coyle, Lucy, it was a pleasure staying here with you. Thank you. We will return in the future, sometime. I just hope you’ll both be alive then. Well, you’re only in your early sixties and Lucy, you’re even younger than me. We’ll be back in ten to twenty years, until then, goodbye.” I said, then turned around and left. I loaded all our things unto Ilu, then we left. I had Ilu go in the direction of the nearest city, which Coyle had informed me of.
It took us a few days to get there, but eventually, we arrived in front of the city of Kalan. Kalan was one of the smaller cities in Fenlai, but it was still quite large. We left Ilu in a nearby forest, where I told him to stay until further notice. After saying goodbye to Iluvatar, we continued towards the city on foot. The forest wasn’t that far away, so it only took a few hours. When we arrived at the city gates, the guards sure were surprised. It isn’t often that you see children entering the city alone, especially at night.
“Hey kids, why are you here alone?” One guard said in a kind voice, with a worried look on his face. Using my acting skills, I managed to get a few tears to swell up.
“W-we were at-t-tacked, b-by b-b-bandits. They killed mom and dad!” I said, while crying. Katy also acted as if she was crying. The guards looked at each other with a worried look.
“Don’t worry kids. We’ll report this to the higher ups, then they’ll send a patrol to find those bandits. For now come with me, I’ll take you to an orphanage.” The guards said. We followed the guards into the city, until we arrived in front of a building. The building had a sign, which said “Coldblood Orphanage”. The guard took us inside the building, then into a room, where we met some middle aged woman. She looked at us kindly.
“What brings these two cuties here?” She asked. The guard sighed before answering.
“They were attacked by bandits, and their parents died, so now they have no place to stay.” He said. The woman smile immediately turned into a frown. She had heard such stories often before, while working in this orphanage, and frankly she didn’t care about them, considering the true nature of the orphanage, but she still had to keep a public front.
“That’s horrible! You can go now, I’ll get them settled in right away.” The woman said. The guard nodded and said his goodbyes, then left. After the guard left, Katy and I stood up as well, to leave.
“Wait, where do you think you’re going?” The woman asked, slightly startled. I turned around, then took a small object out of my pocket. It was the emblem of the Coldbloods, the one only the direct family could have, the ones with the Coldblood surname. The woman was shocked and immediately knelt, causing a lot of confusion on Katy’s part. She still didn’t know I was a Coldblood.
“Lord, I’m sorry! I didn’t know it was you.” The woman said, kowtowing before me, even smashing her head on the floor.
“May I ask, Great Lord, which Coldblood are you?” She continued. I waved for her to get back up, then sat back down.
“I’m Isaac, nephew of Isaac.” I said.
“Ah, so you are the famed Isaac Jn. I should have known from your appearance. May I ask, what brings you here?” The woman asked. Katy was still looking at us with gaping eyes.
“Nothing much, just travelling. I might stay here for a while, but don’t tell anyone I was here, later.” I said, then left with Katy in tow. When we got out, Katy stopped.
“What the hell! You were from the Coldblood family this entire time? Why didn’t you tell me! I knew your family was powerful, but the Coldbloods? They are like the biggest power in the entire kingdom!” Katy shouted at my face.
“Relax. The reason I didn’t tell you, is because I was waiting for this moment. I wanted it to be shocking! And actually, we Coldbloods are in complete control of both Kalderon and Tabarut. We were the ones that instigated that alliance.” I said, a big smirk on my face, as I bragged at the accomplishments of Uncle, as if they were my own, even though I barely even did anything in that regard. After we left the orphanage behind, we went to an inn, and a cheap one at that, since I didn’t have any money. I gave all the money I had on me to Katy’s parents, and I didn’t want to ask the orphanage for money. I thought it would be more fun to earn it on my own. Thus, we were allowed to stay in a room in a small cheap inn, in exchange for working. The innkeeper really was a kind man, and he didn’t mind the idea of cheap employees, so he gladly took us in. He also gave us three meals every day. Thus, we stayed at that inn for a week, but we quickly got tired of it, so we decided to try a different line of work. We paid a quick visit to the Rogue’s Guild, to find out where the nearest assassin stronghold was, then we sneaked out of the city, and rushed towards the nearest assassin’s stronghold, with a new plan. We would become assassins, but we wouldn’t tell them that we are really Coldbloods. That way it would be more fun.
