-Caelum Jinton-

A bright spirited young man with a big dream of ‘changing the world’. Caelum is Emon’s second child and the younger brother of Vaelen. He has an ambition for airships and enjoys his time flying with them. He never showed interest in education or religion. Because he aspired to become a powerful Sequencer, he entered the Inquisition excitedly. However, his life takes a drastic turn soon after enrolling.

In the Dark Castle, Caelum was ‘killed’ but then ‘resurrected’ by a woman who names herself as his mother. Caelum summoned two separate Grimoires during the Initiation Ritual. His first Grimoire represented his ‘own’ soul, whilst the second one represented the soul of the woman who inhabits the Dark Castle. Caelum’s ‘own’ Grimoire is considered the weakest of the group.

“We’ll finally be getting our Grimoires! What do you think mine will look like? I am guessing a bow or something among the lines of anything resembling the armaments of my soul soaring the skies!”

-The Woman of The Castle-

After Caelum’s Initiation Ritual, he collapsed and found himself transmigrated into a ‘spiritual realm’. He opened the large iron gate that depicted a woman holding a formless child in her arms, and was brought into a dark castle before collapsing within that same realm.

Upon awakening, Caelum fell into “Her” embrace. “She” referred herself as Caelum’s mother, and highlighted Caelum’s change in complexion which was the effect of having summoned his second Grimoire. Inside the castle, “She” beheaded Caelum and brought him back to life. Following that, “She” brought Caelum to the peak of the castle hall, and revealed Caelum’s physical manifestation in the castle.

After Caelum’s departure from the castle, “She” closed the gates, and revealed three prominent figures hanging on invisible crosses on three different sides of the castle hall.

“I told you earlier, Caelum… Your aspirations are unique. Even though you have now realised your role in this world, your first truthful question is a selfish one.”

-Vaelen Jinton-

The first child of Emon Moreau, and older brother of Caelum Moreau. Alongside his younger brother, Vaelen was adopted by Emon’s former colleague Aurora Jinton. He initially planned to become a Scholar, and eventually grow into a Creed member, but his aspirations changed when he witnessed that he was a naturally-born Sequencer. Vaelen has an esteemed reputation within Ventoria due to his shared blood with his late father, and the reputations of both Aurora, and Helvega Jinton. Despite the changes in his life, Vaelen never abandoned his scholarly and religious priorities. On every Sunday, he attends Holy Masses and services at the Church of Urdall.

“As democratic as Ventoria may seem, in reality, it could not be any further from that idea. The people in power will forever remain in power because that has already been preordained even before their birth. People are born to be successful, wealthy, adequate… That is how the world works.”

-Lunar Geinzweilt-

Considered to be the ‘short but powerful’ one. Nothing regarding Lunar’s past is known besides him having lived within Ventoria for presumably all his life. At thirteen, he was transported into the Custody Agency, and befriended Declan and Geneve. Together, he enrolled into Ventoria University, where he, alongside Declan and Geneve, chose for the General Education course. Lunar has a manipulative personality, and has a fascination of witnessing the human mind in its raw state.

Lunar hung above the stained glass window in the Dark Castle.

“The Book of Darkness, Book two, chapter six, verse twelve: ‘And ‘His’ soul shall not be solitaire. The Perished One’s body will be shared between ‘Him’ and the source of all sins. ‘Her’ immortality will be manifested through ‘His’ body.”

-Declan Maxwell-

Declan is the oldest and most charismatic of the Jormungandrs. He has a bright personality and enjoys the attention of women. His entire history is unknown, but he has lived for at least five years within Deneve. During those five years, he was transported to the Custody Agency in Ventoria, the place where he, Geneve, and Lunar first met each other. Alongside the other two, Declan met Caelum and Vaelen in Ventoria University soon after enrolling.

Declan hung in front of the large, arched pillars in the Dark Castle.

“But, one question… Are we allowed to bring booze in here?”

-Geneve Luracrof-

Much like Declan, not much is known about Geneve’s history. Public information tells that she was an orphaned child from an unknown country she refers to as ‘The East’. Soon after becoming twelve years old, she was adopted into a family within Deneve. At thirteen, she was abandoned, and had been transported into the Custody Agency, where she would spend all of her early-late teenage years alongside Lunar and Declan.

Geneve hung in front of the walls in the Dark Castle.

“Are you familiar with the Golden Book, Caelum?”

Glossary: Part two

This glossary is related to 'The Gambit of the Faceless God'. It details key events/details relevant to the plot. This does contain spoilers for the entirety of the initial part of this series. Read this at your own discretion.

-Characters-

Emon Moreau: Also regarded as ‘The man who was murdered in 1884’. He was the former ‘First Administrator’ of the Luria Assembly. He had a strong fascination for Ventoria and its history. Because of this, he decided to become a teacher at Ventoria University in order to spread his knowledge about the beauty of Ventoria as well as Deneve to the youth.

On one day, Emon was murdered by a mysterious masked man. Following his assumed ‘resurrection’, Emon continued his daily life as an introverted man who struggled with opening up to other people. Even those close to him.

After Emon received the haunting letter which was assumed to be written by the one responsible for the abducted church members, he decided to head to North-Eastern Ventoria, where the two remaining victims were told to be held. Upon arriving, Emon was met with a shocking revelation. The masked man, later on revealed to be ‘Michel’, has seemingly co-sided with Phineas Leander, one who Emon thought to be a close work confidante.

As fate would have it, Emon was eventually stabbed with a sword imbued with the Zealot of Mist Exorci, which resulted in him losing memories of this occurrence. Eventually, he awakened in a desolate-looking room, where a couple helped him and ultimately brought him to the remaining victims of the abduction case, who were also seemingly saved, and placed them in a separate room.

One of them was a young, beautiful woman named Avani. Together, they later on built a loving family of four after giving birth to two sons. Sadly, their wholesome life was short lived, as nine months after, Emon was killed by Michel. His wife, Velera, was killed by the Lady in Black.

----------------------------------------

Aurora Jinton: Emon’s close right hand and former head overseer of Luria. A beautiful bright-spirited woman who has a tendency to be quite bold to people. Aurora is a late descendant of the Jinton Family; A family with a vast and detailed history, acknowledged as one of the ‘Great Families of Livayae’. The dynamics between her and her family seem to hint towards a broader, uncharted aspect of her character. Perhaps she is not the ‘Aurora’ everyone knows her as.

Aurora had been with Emon for the entire duration of his personal investigation. After having built a seemingly poignant relationship with him, her life seemed to have collapsed as she discovered a truth she could never dare to even consider to be a reality. Emon had been with another woman he referred to as ‘Velera’. This revelation caused her to return home and tell the truth about the Jinton family to her daughter, Helvega. Eighteen years later, she still hadn't fully recovered from the pain she experienced. This is predominantly because Emon's death had never been confirmed. The possibility of him still being alive lingers in Aurora's mind, prompting her to tiredlessly search for him everywhere she can.

Following Emon's disappearance (supposed death), as well as Velera's death, she adopted Caelum and Vaelen as her own children.

“…I will tell you everything you need to know.”

----------------------------------------

Helvega Jinton (1884): Daughter of Aurora Jinton. She is considered a ‘young prodigy’ by her seniors and mentors due to her impressive intelligence levels regarding geographical histories, the Golden Book, battle and air ships, and educational concepts such as math and temples. She has a dream of becoming the caretaker of Ventoria’s greatest library, which is currently overseen by Miriam Cowright, her close mentor-figure. She has a complicated relationship with her mother. Due to her mother’s confidential past with her family, Helvega has very limited information about things she would rather want to know more about. For example, her father.

Helvega had been struck with an internal conflict after she was told about a strange and bizarre dream Miriam had about her. She ignorantly denied any sort of possibilities of that dream having matched up with her life, and decided to move on from it. During the time when Aurora found out that Emon was with another woman, Helvega had a heated argument with her mother, and was scolded. She would never expect that her mother would eventually return home and spill the truth about something she sought after for as long as she could remember.

"Even though I am only familiar with Miriam, it always feels as if coming home to a large, welcoming family. It does not even compare to mother. Her embrace never felt as warm as Miriam’s…"

----------------------------------------

Michel: Acknowledged as ‘He Who Murdered Emon’. On one fateful morning, he killed Emon on the beautiful sea side cliff right next to Emon’s house. He refers to Emon as ‘himself’, as well as a ‘Great Rebel’. He is the Lord who commanded the Lady in Black.

Michel was later on revealed to be the perpetrator of the abducted church members case. He orchestrated Emon’s death at the beautiful sea side cliff after one of his ‘Fleshes’ manipulated Emon into drinking a glass of water that was mixed with a love elixir. He is referred to as ‘God’ by Phineas Leander. His ‘Flesh’, acknowledged as ‘Knight Three’, proclaimed the birth of The Father, as well as the Second Coming of Darkness.

“…Because now, my rebellion has become your rebellion. You are now a Great Rebel.”

The Lady in Black: Acknowledged as ‘The Executioner’. She was commanded by her Lord to kill Emon’s wife. It is speculated that she played a role in Emon’s assumed ‘resurrection’.

----------------------------------------

Avani (Velera): A beautiful lady who was tragically killed in the beautiful early morning. She asked the Lady in Black to take her children to a different room so that they wouldn’t experience death upon their first few breaths. She was referred to as ‘Mother’ by the Lady in Black before she was killed.

Avani was one of the two remaining victims of the abducted church members case. After being rescued by one of Michel’s ‘Fleshes’, Emon took her in his house, and later on had sexual intercourse with him. That following night, she encountered Michel and Grisha on the beautiful sea side cliff, and was given the Zealot Blade, which she used to pierce Emon’s chest with. Following his second collapse, Avani was given the name ‘Velera’, and spent the following nine months pretending to be Emon’s wife.

After nine months passed, Velera was killed by the Lady in Black. She was, at that point, the mother of two sons. Caelum and Vaelen.

“…I believe my time has finally come, has it not?”

Miriam Cowright: Member of the esteemed Cowright Family and official caretaker of Ventoria’s greatest library. She has a very close relationship with Helvega, and considers her as someone she is willing to pass the torch on. Much like Helvega, Miriam has a strong fascination for the Ventorian culture and its influences. She has a dog pet that loves to go on walks with her.

----------------------------------------

Knight Three (KT): One of Michel’s ‘Fleshes’. He was the cause of Emon’s sexual intercourse with Avani, which resulted in the two sons to be birthed. He took the identity of two patrons of the tavern and took Emon, Avani, and Clara into the building to fabricate a scenario in which they were saved.

Grisha: During the night of Emon’s investigation, Grisha had plunged his sword infused with the Zealot of Mist into Emon’s chest. After Emon returned to his house alongside Avani, he was struck with the sword once more. Grisha brought Emon back into his house after he collapsed.

"If I could choose one person to represent cruelty… It would be you, Michel."

-(Current known) Places-

Ventoria: Situated within the heart of Deneve, the second-highest ranked country within the United Western Nations. Ventoria is well-known for their distinct characteristic as the very first and main manufacturer of both Airships and Battleships. It is also the only “city” in the world where three different Assemblies have been founded: The Luria, Zephyr, and Monlay Assemblies.

-(Current known) Churches-

Urdall’s Church: At the very Northern part of the grand city, the Church of Urdall resides as an “Indoctrination Church”, which in essence means that it is not the Head Church, but rather a “starting point” for mostly individuals ranging from eighteen to twenty-five years old after being newly indoctrinated into the Church and taught its characteristics before journeying to the Northern part of Deneve, where the Head Church resides in order to proceed onto Priesthood, with a very small percentage accepted into Creedhood.

-(Current known) Temples-

The Arcane Conjurers: Better known as Arcane Temple, or simply Arcanist, the Arcane Temple is officially acknowledged as an “Ascension Temple”. It is, in other words, the proceeding Temple of the Gaian Temple. Both Temples are associates of Urdall’s Church and primarily worship Urdall over the other Gods. The Arcanists Temple is situated at the Western side of Deneve, in the city of Laner, named directly after the founder of both the city as well as the Arcane Temple.

The Gaian Wanderers: Better known as the Gaian Temple, is an officially acknowledged Foundational Temple. It is situated in the far Eastern side of Ventoria, which makes it the only Temple that exists within Ventoria. In relation to recent mention, the Gaian Wanderers worship Urdall, and are a part of Urdall’s Church. For anyone wanting to start out to become a Sequencer within Ventoria, the Gaian Temple is their starting point.

-Assemblies-

Luria: The Assembly of Luria primarily revolves around being the foundational base for establishing social constructions. However, this is limited to establishments such as the Education Program, which is a part of the Monlay Assembly. It is currently led by Clement Lauredan the Fourth.

The Luria Assembly primarily focuses on the following:

- Establishing social events (not limited to contributing to Events for the Education Program)

- Providing social gatherings

- Responsible for most, not all agendas and news flashes

- The Headquarter for all Charity Providers. Ref: The Custody Agency

Zephyr: The Zephyr Assembly is considered one of the most capable Assemblies in terms of martialism given it is not only Ventoria’s, but also Deneve’s main military force. The Zephyr Assembly is also well known for its bloodline hierarchy. Ever since it had been established over 200 years ago during the peaks of the Age of War, it was never led by someone who did not bear the blood of the Zephyr Family. It is currently led by Natalie Zephyr.

Monlay: As the oldest Assembly of the three, the Monlay Assembly is also strangely the most mysterious Assembly. Most of its rich history is known regarding its foundation by an unnamed Lady often referred to as “Lady Cowright: Mother of the Cowright Family”. Reasonably, much like the Zephyr Assembly, Monlay is said to be governed by the Cowright Family. However, even after being established for over 500 years, it has been 100 years since information regarding the leader(s) of the Assembly were never shared to the public. Nobody really knows who leads Monlay, although a few notable individuals have been speculated to perhaps hold an esteemed role within the hierarchy, such as the caretaker of Ventoria Library, Miriam Cowright (pre timeskip).

-Organizations-

Terra Firma: The single, most profitable corporation within the entirety of Deneve primarily due to its wide arrange of source material integral for industrial creations. Terra Firma (TF) is a financial subsidiary of the Central Bank, which allows for the CB to hold a percentage of control and influence over TF’s operations. Terra Firma is led by a man named James Arnell.

The Custody Agency: The Custody Agency, or commonly referred to as the CA, a child company under the Luria Assembly. The CA is responsible for providing refugee and nourishment for the less fortunate. It is led by Viktor Whinsel, as well as Eliza Whinsel.

-Potions/IA Cards-

Zealot of Mist: One of the seven main Exorci. A powerful potion that allows its user to erase short term memories from their target(s)

Exorci: In the simplest sense, an Exorci is essentially the result of mixing various of different potions. There are seven main forms of Exorci. It is said that the Zealot Exorci was first cultivated by the Zealot Family, somewhere during the early Ages. The ‘Zealot’ has since then been used to label potions that have an effect on the mind. In other words, potions with Manipulation characteristics.
