“Are we there yet?” I said with my eyes barely being able to open.
It had been an hour since Mr. Gordon has invited me over to his dorm room. Although I had my suspicions, he did utter the name of my dad, and I think that should clear some doubt I had of him.
Of course, I did not totally believe that he wouldn’t harm me at all, after all, in my previous life, that mentality was challenged by no one other than my mother.
“We’re almost there just hold on,” said Gordon while holding a lantern in front of him.
The lantern was quite old. The look resembles the ones from the setting of most medieval fantasy worlds. The metal parts were rusted while the parts that seemed to be made of wood were coated in some sort of special coating to prevent the fire from the candle.
As we approached a small building in the outer part of the camp, the moon above us and shined without a care in the world. The stars of the night sky felt different tonight as if something special was going to happen tonight. What a stupid thought, it’s not like I’m some character in some web novel who’s important or anything.
The building that Gordon was leading me to was old and creped. It had the banner of the Empire of Kalmar on either side of the door covering the window. The wooden frame of the building seemed to be in the process of being eaten away by termites while the glass looked frosted over, covered in dust, or a combination of both. The roofing seemed intact, but it looked like one wrong move could cause it to cave in. The only new part seemed to be the wooden door that was enforced by some cheap iron.
“Here hold on to the lantern,” said Gordon as he reached his arm towards me as he used his other arms to pat on his pockets.
I grabbed onto the lantern and Gordon quickly used his free arm to pat his other pockets. The lantern felt lighter than I thought, the heftiness was like a torch. The candle that was inside also felt colder than I thought, the heat emitting from the flames reminded me of electrical stoves when you first turn them on and hover your hand over it for 30 seconds.
I closed my eyes and breathed slowly. I felt some sort of magical power coming from the lantern. I could not tell if it was coming from the flames of the candles, the candles, or even the lantern itself. Whoever made this lantern had a mind out of this world.
“Finally, I found the key,” Gordon mumbled to himself as he pulled it out of his pocket.
The key was large, and it seemed oversized in comparison to the doorknob it was supposed to keep locked. It was dark grey and seemed to have a smooth iron look. When Gordon turned the key, there was a click, the click was similar to the one in the game where if you had the right key for a lock, it would unlock without any problems.
“Come inside,” said Gordon as he pushed open the door and moved his body to the side of it as if it was some sort of open house event.
As I entered the house, candle lights suddenly flickered on as the inside of the building became full of lights. These lights gave the same feeling to that of the lantern.
The interior layout of the building reminded me of a studio apartment as the bedroom and kitchen had no obvious separation from each other. The only rooms that were separated were the bathroom and the bedroom. It was small and cozy, whilst dusty. The furniture around were sporadically placed, there was a bookshelf, a desk with a wooden chair, and a twin-sized bed. There were two baskets full of clothes near the bathroom.
The wooden inside of the building was not as rough of shape as the exterior of the building. Looking back at the windows it was definitely dusty.

When I stepped inside the building, I noticed that the wooden floor creaked a little as my foot touched it. The feeling of the floor was grainy and rough as if it was hastily carved and placed. When I lifted my foot, I saw that it had darkened from the amount of dust and dirt that had been building up, gross.
Gordon closed the door behind me and placed the lantern by the side of the door, I walked to his bed and sat down on it. The mattress felt like the ones in the infirmary and way nicer than the ones at the prisoner’s dormitory.
“Uhh… Mr. Gordon.”
“Yes?” he said as he walked to the kitchen and grabbed some cups out of some cupboards.
“So, what exactly did you want to talk to me about?”
“Well, I want to confirm something first.”
He pulled an ominous-looking potion out of the cupboards and poured it into the cup then walked over to me to hand it over.
“Drink this.”
“What is it?”
“Don’t worry it’s not poisonous, but I just need to know if you really are the child of Lord Tudor.”
I looked at the liquid. It was orange and had a bitter smell. As I lifted it closer towards my mouth, I felt like my eyes were starting to tear up for some reason.
“Thank you for the drink,” I mumbled before I drank it.
As I drank the mysterious liquid, I felt like my throat was burning and my body getting hotter. My body felt like I was on fire and my skin felt tingly, yet the tears that were building in my eyes were drying up.
“So, you are his child,” said Gordon with a grin.
“Bleh, what was that it tasted so bitter.”
“It’s liquid fire.”
“Liquid… fire?”
“If you weren’t who you said you were, your body would’ve combusted,” he said with a smug face.
“Whaaaat????” I said with a terrified expression.
Seriously, who is this dude, and how dare he risk my beautiful eyes for something so dumb?
“Anyways…” he said as he shifted his body and pulled his chair closer towards me. “Are you aware of your “Wrath” ability?”
“Y-yes.”
“Do you know the kind of power you possess?”
“N-no, also w-why are you being so serious all of a sudden.”
“Milady, you must head to the Labyrinth of the Firelord if you ever get out of here.”
The Labyrinth of the Firelord huh…
“Why should I head to the Labyrinth of the Firelord?” I said with a serious expression.
“Well…” he sighed, “The Labyrinth of the Firelord has the tablet of the Lord of Wrath, which will allow you “upgrade” your Wrath ability into something greater.”
“What do you mean?”
“Do you know what your current ability “Wrath” does?”
“I-I think so, it’s an ability that allows me to cast fire around me, right?”
“Yes, and with Lord of Wrath, you can cast fire, ice, and electricity all at once.”
“But wouldn’t the fire and ice cancel out?”
“According to legends… that ice is quite special,” he said with a proud expression.
I don’t get why he has to be so smug about this.
“Alright, but first off… how would I get out of here?”
“That is something for you to figure out.”
“What do you mean?”
“I can’t help you escape because it would violate my contract, call it an adventurers honor.”
“Ehh… SO WHAT’S THE POINT OF TELLING ME THIS IN THE FIRST POINT!”
“Because you’re Charles’s daughter, you probably are planning an escape attempt already.”
Seriously what is with this dude, he’s seriously getting on my nerves. I mean he is right, I am plotting my escape but holy shit dude, why the fuck are you like this.
“Anyways what’s your relation to my father anyway?”
“My relation? Well, I was the one who introduced your father to your mother.”
“Heh,” I said with a frozen expression.
“You should’ve seen their faces when they first met, they both were total idiots for each other as soon as they saw each other,” he said while laughing.
“Y-you are partially re-responsible for why I was born.”
I cannot believe this…
“A-anyways, I g-guess I have to thank you for introducing my parents to each other,” I said while stiffening my posture.
“Milady being all proper all of a sudden, haha! You are so much like your father!”
This guy is seriously pushing all the wrong buttons right now.
“Well, I have to be proper, after all as a woman of nobility I have to be uptight when I am invited to man’s room in the middle of the night.”
“Heh,” he said with a frozen expression.
Is this dude a total airhead or is that much of an idiot?
“W-well, do you know how you are going to escape this prison camp?” he said while fixing his expression.
“I-I do but I can’t tell you.”
“Fair enough, I am still working with your enemy after all.”
I nodded in response.
“However, if you need anything, don't be afraid to tell me.”
Wait, I could use this as a chance to learn a bunch of spells.
“Well, there is one thing that you could do for me,” I said with an evil grin.
Gordon gulped, “You really are his daughter.” he said with a scared expression on his face.
