Writer’s spot: GREETINGS FRIENDS! After such a long absence, here I am back to RRL!
SO, Recently I had this mean series of group projects and finals that decided to screw me over. Combo that with the fact that a certain game caught my attention on the little free time I had, and we get a massive gap when it comes to release time. Luckily, I only have a single test left, and then it’s my break time, where I’ll be on my beach house with a relatively poor internet and bad computer, so more than enough free time to write, hopefully.
BESIDES, on more story-related matters, As of now I need a name for the three robots that are following Gaz. If anyone have a suggestion you want to make, say in the comments. Do remember to specify which robot you are naming, Leaper, Hugger or Boar-thingy.
BESIDES(2), As for IO, I plan to start working on it tomorrow. There’s also the matter of the Q&A that have been dragged for too long. After that, there’s a special Christmas special coming, so wait and see where it will go.
Beep, and enjoy your story!

Feeling his senses come back to him, Gaz quickly activated his camera and moved around, seeing the scenery before him. Ruby was crouching in front of him with a still sleepy face, probably holding back a yawn from the way she looked. To her side was the robotic wolf body, almost entirely destroyed and barely functional.
Hugger, the leaper and the boar-like robot were all looking at the scene with different degrees of interest. Mirage being Mirage, spent no time to waste on climbing atop his body and starting to enjoy his motor’s warm. Extending the two claw-like machinery on each side of his body, he quickly used it to set up the core that was out in the open inside the safer part of his inner body.
After setting it up, all he needed to do was to close down the center tower and soon enough he was completely set.
[I really want to say that it’s been some time but… it wasn’t that long since I left this body...] He said wryly.
“Hmm… Luckily… we managed… To repair it...” Ruby said while almost nodding off.
[Hmm! Thanks for the help!] Ekis said cheerfully before changing to a slightly worried tone. [But are you fine? You sound tired.]
“Hmm… Still tired… Could use… Huggy...” She said in a childish tone completely different from the usual one she used.
For a moment there was silence while Gaz and Ekis simply looked at her in awe. Tilting her head confused, Ruby didn’t understand the reason for their shock.
[Please tell me you stored that.]
[So… Adorable...]
When she heard the duo speaking things like that, she pouted slightly unhappy, which only managed to get another snapshot for Beepy and Ekis, who were completely absorbed in registering these adorable moments. Getting adorably angry, Ruby stood up and walked away from the robot who was now back into his tank-like body.
Watching the morphian trying to storm away in an angry manner, which with her actual appearance and atmosphere, made it look like a kid throwing a tantrum. Smiling awkwardly in their minds, Ekis and Beepy reached a silent consensus of keeping quiet.
They still made a backup file just in case.
“...Big sis! Huggy!”
“KYAAAAH! SO ADORABLE!”
Hearing the girl’s exchange in the inner parts of the house, Beepy quickly decided that it was time for him to start working on his own problems. Spinning his body around using the so familiar treads, he looked at the three robots who watched him expectantly.
Ever since they arrived at their house the previous day, the trio had been following him without question, to the point that he found it a bit annoying. Although he was confused as of the reason for they to be doing that, it became a bit clearer when Ekis woke up a few hours earlier and said that they were waiting orders.
[Seriously? Why the hell did I suddenly become their boss?] Gaz asked annoyed before driving out from the depot and making his way towards the entrance that led to the back garden.
[Well, you did defeat them and led them to their freedom, so it’s no wonder they respect you.] Ekis said cheerfully. [It makes me so happy to see them being so considerate!]
While she said that, Gaz simply sighed exasperated while crossing his path with Sorius, giving him a brief beep in greeting. The elf replied with a brief nod before turning to him and looking confused at the small procession of robots crossing the hall in a perfect line.
Ignoring his reaction, Beepy opened the door and got out of the house.
Once outside, he could feel as the ground beneath his treads changed from the polished stones to soft grass. Being followed closely, he approached the middle of the garden, where a certain lynnian was calmly sitting down in a bench, happily painting something on her usual canvas.
Hearing the small group approaching, Yllivia stopped for a moment and widened her eyes ever so slightly, before lowering herself and making a sign for them to come closer. Gaz immediately complied, approaching her so that she could pet him a bit.
“...beep.” She said.
“Beep!” He replied as usual, getting a small smile from the girl, who then turned to the other robots and looked expectantly.
Much to her sadness, the robots all avoided her, keeping beepy between her and themselves. She sighed loudly, showing her sadness before shaking her head as if saying that was expected.
[What’s with that? Why are they avoiding her?] Gaz asked angrily.
[I don't know…] Ekis replied worriedly for a moment. [I can't really understand it either, but…]
[But?] he urged her to go on.
[Doesn’t it seems like they are looking at you more respectfully now?]
Looking at the robots who all seemed to be staring at him in awe, Gaz stared at them dryly for a moment before sighing in his mind.
[Don’t know. Don’t care.] He said before using his treads to spin around and moving away from the place where they were and moving to a space away from the garage.
The other robots soon, just as he expected, followed him and stopped a few meters behind him.
[Look, from today onwards, this area will be where you guys will live. Do NOT go back there because you could get caught into the garage. Also, never, under any circumstances, attack someone. Understood?] He said out loudly.
All he got in response was some silent robots staring at him quietly. The boar one actually was sniffing the ground, or at least looked like it, as he couldn't be quite so sure with it being a robot and whatnot.
[I don't think they can hear us…] Ekis said wryly.
[I really hoped they could…] Gaz sighed tiredly. [With them following me and I following you, I kinda had this idea that they would be close enough for you to link to them, you know?]
[Is that how it works?] She asked confused.
[Well, you are the one who was suppose to know that, right?] He said wryly, receiving an embarrassed feeling through their link. [Well, let's try something else…] He said before sighing. “Beeep beep bip BeeeEEEeep beep beEep, bibibip!”
As if by magic, after his beepings, the wonder trio stared at him in shock for a moment before finally dispersing, with hugger laying down in a nearby shade, the Leaper darting away to explore and the boar using its massive excavators to dig a hole in the ground.
[Whaaa!] Ekis said in wonder. [How did you do that? Was there a pattern behind your beeps?] He could feel her excitement and would have guessed that she would be bouncing on her feet… Or pistons, cheerfully. [I didn't get enough data to decode that! What did you say?]
[...I have no idea.] Gaz replied after a moment, feeling as Ekis froze for a moment in her excitement. [I… Just made some random beeps and hoped it works…]
[...Did it work?]
[I have absolutely no idea.] He replied wryly while looking at the two robots who were still nearby. [At least it does looks like so.]
Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit.
[...That makes simply no logical sense…]
[Well, not everything needs to be logic to make sense… I think.] The small robot replied before engaging his motors and turning around. [Ooookaayyy… Now what to do?]
[Don’t you have anything in mind?] Ekis asked, but beepy simply sighed.
[Not really… I wouldn't mind to start working on either repairing my wolf body or building my next one, but…]
[We don't have enough pieces to start working on either?] Ekis said in a dejected tone.
[Yeah. The new body will probably need some pieces made under demand, while the wolf one will need some metal sheets and pistons that we simply don't have.] Gaz sighed loudly. [And I also would like to add some more upgrades. I really lacked some firepower back there.]
[Lack… I don’t think many robots your size would be able to even put a dent on Brutus, you know?] Ekis said with a wry tone.
[Well, not like I had much use either.] He sighed.
[What about the time you broke his sound detector?]
[...Lucky shot.] He said wryly with a hint of pride. [But besides that, the stars of the show were pretty much hugger and Ruby, right?]
[...I guess? I’m not really all keen on what you call ‘stars of the show’ means.] The goddess replied with a slightly confused tone.
[Guessed so.]
Seeing that their talk had come to a halt, and they still had nothing to do with what they had at hand, Gaz looked on the area around him before finally settling his sight on Yllivia, painting peacefully on her corner of the garden.
Making his way towards her, he was received with a brief petting on his hood before the girl went back to painting. Settling besides her, he decided that he might as well spend his time lazing around near the lynnian. Noticing as a small smile appeared on her face, he decided that it wasn’t a bad idea at all.
…
Three hours, one whole painting of a certain robotic wolf and the start of a brand new painting later, something finally happened, making Gaz snap out of his semi cathartic state. Looking around in confusion as a familiar loud sound echoed, and receiving an annoyed meow from the robotic cat on his back for his sudden movement, his camera landed on the large vehicles approaching the house.
Recognizing the two of them at glance, Gaz and Yllivia both looked at them in slight surprise, seeing as the large troll drove the even larger truck, while the cheerful dwarf drove the jeep-like vehicle.
“Heya lass! Did’ya miss us?” The dwarf said while stopping the jeep besides her.
“...”
“Cold as always, huh?” Ross said while jumping down from the vehicle then giving a confused stare to beepy. “Why’s he back in dere?”
“Work accident.” Yllivia said while cleaning the paint from the brush and picking a new color.
“...Alright...” Ross said a bit confused.
“I’m personally more interested in why there’s a Leaper looking at us so angrily.” A more mature voice echoed as the troll came down from the large truck. “...And is that a burrow I’m seeing?”
“Beepy’s friends. Came to stay with us.” She replied briefly.
[...Friends?] Gaz asked a bit confused.
“...Friends?” Volgoff worded the small robot’s confusion. “Did we miss something in here? And could he do something so that the leaper to stop staring at us?”
Nodding to his words, Yllivia turned to Gaz, who was still a bit slow from just having come back from his sleep state. After some seconds processing the words and what they meant, Gaz quickly turned to the leaper and beeped something at random.
The leaper looked at him for some time before finally spinning around and moving away. Seeing that the robot wasn’t threatening him anymore, the troll heaved a sigh of relief before looking down at the small robot and giving a brief nod of thanks.
After giving him a beep of acknowledgement, beepy turned to look at the huge trailer that came together with the truck. Counting with the one that was already in the garage, this made two of them, and for a moment he wondered how it would fit in the garage, but remembering the sheer size of the underground area, he finally sighed and understood that space wasn’t something their garage lacked.
“...You are early. What happened?” Yllivia asked confused. They were expecting the duo to arrive the following day, yet here they were.
“We didn’t get to be hunted as much as we expected.” The troll said with a satisfied smile before walking up to the jeep and opening the hood. “We didn’t even meet a single black trigger.”
“Aye!” Ross replied with a nod, but his face looked a bit bothered. “I guess dey got sum new job or sumting. Else dey’d surely be on our sorry tails.”
“I see.” Yllivia replied with a nod before turning to the front door.
The two men blinked surprised before turning to follow her gaze, seeing as the two elves came out of the houses with surprised expressions, Ruby following Lunn as she clung to her waist with a shy look, only to widen her eyes and give a brief smile to the duo.
“Uncle Vol. Uncle Ross. Welcome.” She said briefly in a low tone.
The two men hesitated for a moment upon seeing her strange way of speaking and not helping but finding her strangely adorable as she clung to the elf’s blouse.
“...Seriously. Wat da hell happened ‘ere?” Ross asked confused.
“Long story...” Lunn said with a sigh before looking at the cars. “From what you said, I take it wasn’t very eventful?”
“Yes. We didn’t really get anything too interesting on our way here.” The troll replied while verifying the motor of the car and giving a satisfied nod. “Well, almost.”
“Almost?” Sorius asked confused. “What do you mean.”
“Oh, we picked dis weird lad on our way here.” Ross said with a laugh while going to the back of the trailer and opening the door. “We picked ‘im hitchiking on the road and left ‘im at the city.”
“From the way you say it… Did he try anything funny?” Lunn asked confused, but Ross shook his head.
“Nah. Nice lad. Good talker too!” The dwarf dismissed it instantly. “But… Well… He was kinda weird?”
“Indeed. I became rather shocked when I saw you punching him through the mirror.” Volgoff nodded with a confused look.
“...Punch?” Yllivia asked while tilting her head confused before staring at the dwarf dubiously.
“Aye… It does sound odd, doesn’t it?” He laughed dryly. “Lookie here, the first thing the lad said when ‘e hoped in was: If I start acting weird, just give me a good o’l flying hook.”
As he said that in a weird fake tone, the others all looked at him with a distrusting look, making the dwarf look around in confusion.
“As weird as that sounds, I can vouch for him.” Volgoff said with a wry tone. “He indeed say something like that.”
“...What?” The elfs said in synchrony.
“Yah. I thought it was weird, but didn’t really mind tinking it was a joke or sumting.” Ross said while hopping inside the trailer. “Tis was all nice an’ stuff for sum time, but when he saw ma power armor... ” He stopped his words for a moment, and unable to see him inside the trailer, the others could only wait as he chose his words. Only when the dwarf hopped out carrying a large machine as big as himself did he continue. “Tis was kinda like a whole different person, ya know?”
While the others simply looked at him confused, the one who react first wasn’t anyone other than the young morphian who clung to the pink haired elf. Staring at the dwarf in surprise, she opened her mouth to speak, before closing it and thinking better.
Finally, she asked in a shy tone.
“Wa… Was it a Brown haired Lynnian?” She asked, noticing how the others gaze all fell upon her and shrunk slightly.
“...Aye. How did the little princess know?”
“...I don’t like him.” She said while clinging adorably to Lunn’s waist and pouting.
“Ya know that guy?” Ross said surprised, and Ruby nodded once again.
“Hmm… He’s a researcher too.” She said in a clear bad mood. “He’s… Very good. But I don’t like him.” She clung even more to Lunn. “Syche is scary.”
“Syche?” Lunn asked confused. “But isn’t his name Evon or something?”
“Hmm.” Ruby nodded weakly, before looking up to the elf. “Evon is strange. He have two personalities.” She looked down again before going back to cling to the elf. “He calls the meany one Syche.”
[Two personalities?] Ekis asked confused on their links. [How does that works?]
[Muu… I don’t know.] Ruby replied. [I just know that when he’s interested on something, it’s like he becomes a really meany person.]
“And why do you know him?” Sorius asked confused, the others nodding as they agreed with his doubt.
“Muu… He’s... Very famous.” Sighing, Ruby took some time to reply. “And his researches are completely different from mine. I wanted to see what he did.”
“Oh? And what exactly does he do?” Volgoff asked curious while looking at her. “Not wanting to sound rude or anything, but he didn’t exactly seem a very scientific fellow.”
“Evon isn’t.” She said shortly. “Nice Evon is a mercenary. The researcher is Syche.” The others raised confused eyebrows at her words, not exactly understanding her words. “He is trying to create new things that don’t need robots as basis.” Ruby then turned towards Sorius for a moment. “I… Thought of asking him to make your weapon.”
“Huh? Him?” The elf asked confused and she nodded.
“Syche is a meany, but...” Ruby lowered her head. “When it comes to creating things from scratch, he’s better than me.”
