Writer’s spot: Greetings friends! Sorry for the delay, but we finally have it! The next chapter!

SO, Not only have I spent a lot of time writing Insania these last days, I’ve also been busy with my other story that I’ve been working on for fun. This made this release be delayed by a couple of days from the usual. THEN, my sister’s birthday happened, AND more delays! So yeah…

BESIDES, next update should be in two days if I follow the same pattern as I was doing with Insania.

BESIDES(2), on a more story-focused comment, there’s some odd thigngs happening in the arena from the looks of it, huh? (smirks evily.)

Beep, and enjoy your story.

Gaz didn’t need to be a telepath nor anything like that to see that the boss felt cornered by the viciousness that was the professor. He didn’t even need to see his face to know that, as the sound of him gulping down loudly echoed in the room. Taking a quick look upwards and to the back, he saw as Yllivia frowned slightly, and seeing that he prepared himself for what was about to happen.

“You…” The boss said with a furious tone, but no words came out from his mouth as he feared that this girl might bait him once again. “You are too dangerous to let loose.” He said with a sigh in the end. “GUARDS!”

Barely had the words left his mouth and action were already being taken. Four guards popped up from a hidden door, all of them sporting silenced assault rifles in their hands. As soon as they entered the room they turned their weapons towards the group, who were caught a bit by surprise.

With an annoyed sigh, Ruby was the first to raise her hand, having a dejected expression on her face as she quickly glanced towards Yllivia, Gaz and Hugger, all of which relaxed their positions hesitantly.

“Are you sure you want to do this? Our friends might not take this lightly.” She said while raising an eyebrow, a taunting tone on her voice.

“Yeah. You have a point.” The boss said with a sigh before turning towards one of the bodyguards and signaling with his head. “You there! Call Jay. Have him look for these guy’s friends!”

The guard nodded and lowered his rifle while taking a small walkie-talkie from his suit’s pocket, Ylliva’s hands twitched for a moment as she saw the chance for an attack, but Ruby’s quick gaze stopped her in her tracks.

As the guard tried to make contact on the radio, the boss turned back to the group with a victorious smile stamped on his face. However, even then Ruby’s gaze seemed to be taunting him, which made the man furious. Just as he raised his hand to signal his men to take a shot, the guard that was on the radio turned back to him with a slightly worried tone.

“Boss… We can’t contact Jay.” The guard said, which made the boss blink surprised and turn to him with a frown.

“What do you mean by that? Is he too busy answer?” The boss asked, but the guard shook his head.

“No, he simply isn’t answering the radio. It keeps calling but there’s no answer.”

“What does that means?” The boss asked, but quickly shook his head. “No matter, send a few men to look for him. His radio might be malfunctioning.” The guard nodded and started to bark some orders on the radio. Turning back to the group, the Boss sighed and asked. “Now, where were we?”

“We were in the part where you were about to order your men to kill us because I’m way smarter than you.” Ruby replied nonchalantly, making a vein pop on the guy’s head.

[Didn’t you ever learn to not anger a drug lord?] Gaz asked with a deep sigh.

[Leaving him angry might cloud his judgment and give us an opening.] Ruby replied coldly.

[Or might make him kill us thoughtlessly.] Gaz added.

[Still worth it.]

Sighing loudly in his mind, Gaz simply stared lazily at the guards who had their weapons pointed at them. With his sensor he could hear as a few others made their way through the corridor of the hidden door to reach the room.

“Don’t you have a sharp tongue, little miss?” The boss asked angrily.

“You are just imaging things, sir.” She replied in an emotionless voice.

With a vein popping up from his forehead, the boss turned towards his men, who all raised their rifles and pointed to the group. Ruby frowned slightly as she saw that she was running out of time, so she quickly turned to Yllivia and was about to make a motion for her to go ahead.

But the moment the boss was about to give the order, everything went dark.

With the lights going out in a closed room, absolute darkness reigned in the room leaving everyone shocked for a moment. Everyone except Ruby, who had been expecting this since she received the message via Mirage.

“YLLI, BEEPY! NOW!” Ruby shouted as she fell back to the entrance of the room, hiding behind an expensive looking statue for cover.

Although shocked, the two reacted quickly at her orders, each one aiming for a nearby bodyguard. Yllivia quickly grabbed one of the nearby guards by the hands and removed the rifle from his hand with a quick attack to his hand.

On the other hand, Gaz wasn’t all that bothered by the lack of light thanks to his presence sensor, so he quickly leaped towards another guard, biting the barrel of the weapon with such a strength that it distorted the weapon. At the same time, he took a swing with his tail while popping the needles out, landing it on the men’s arm.

The man shouted in pain as five armor-piercing needles dug deeply into his arm, quickly releasing the weapon, he held his free hand over the wound while the wolf robot spat the weapon out and ran turned towards the boss, who was crawling his way towards the hidden door.

But before he could reach him, one of the men managed to light up a simple flashlight, illuminating the room enough for him and the remaining guard to take aim and fire their weapons.

Yllivia and Gaz quickly fell back, with the lynnian kicking down the table to use as cover while Gaz quickly took the rifle that the other bodyguard dropped down and brought it towards the mercenary. Ruby hid herself behind the statue so that the guards wouldn’t notice her, and soon the sounds of gunfire echoed in the room.

Yllivia quickly checked the rifle and raised herself from behind the table and took a shot at one of the bodyguards, shooting him in the shoulder before taking cover once again from the other mercenary.

“Beepy. Go to Ruby, take her to Lunn.” Yllivia said briefly to him before taking a shot at the other bodyguard while peeking from the corner of the table.

“Yllivia, we need the safe’s combination!” Ruby said briefly while pointing to the part of the room that the man had peeked.

“I’ll try to not kill him.” The lynnian nodded before darting away through the side door.

[Can’t you open it yourself?] Gaz asked as he approached Ruby and eyed her confused.

[I’d probably need some kind of tools for that.] She said with a frown. [He wouldn’t leave the safe unguarded if he wasn’t confident of its resilience. The thing inside there is too expensive to leave it alone.]

Gaz grimaced a bit in his head, but decided that he should trust the professor when it comes to logic processing. Leaving aside the problem, Gaz quickly nodded to her and jumped down the door, bring it down with his weight and readying for any possible extra enemies.

Seeing none of them, he quickly darted forward with Ruby following him closely behind as the two passed through the still dark corridor. Strangely enough, none of the traps that the head bodyguard mentioned even appeared to stop them, maybe they relied on electricity? Not that they were complaining, of course.

They quickly crossed the corridor just in time as the door opened, revealing a bodyguard with a confused look in his face. He stared at the duo for a moment, trying to understand what was happening, but before he could process the information, Gaz already had jumped at him and yanked the weapon out of his hands before smacking the heavy tail on his head, knocking him out.

After a quick rummage, Ruby found a pistol on the guy’s clothes and took it to herself. She blinked in fear for a moment, but nodded anyway as she went back to the calculative professor. With quick actions she checked the magazine and if there was any bullet in the chamber.

She took a deep breath to calm herself.

[If you want you can leave it back, you know?] Gaz asked, but Ruby shook her head.

[We are in the middle of the enemy base. Can’t be too careful.] She replied in a cold tone as she took the holster from the guy’s belt.

[But can you even use that weapon?] Ekis asked in a worried tone.

[I know enough to aim at the opponent.] She replied while holstering the weapon.

Gaz stared at her for a moment but shook his head deciding to not bother too much with it. It was her choice in the end.

Straining their ears/sensors, they could pick up the sound of people in panic as they ran around, and Gaz with his sensitive sensors even managed to pick up the occasional sound of robots moving around. It seems like their plan of releasing the robots to cause chaos had worked somehow.

[What are you going to do now?] Ekis asked worried.

[We’d better find the elves. They might help us with what is happening here. Ylli should be able to take care of herself, but it’s better to not drag around too much.] Gaz said quickly.

[And where are they?] Ruby said while checking the area around them.

That was actually a good question, as they had no way of knowing how to meet with them. Gaz, however, had an idea.

[Don’t Mirage knows something?]

“Mirage, where are Lunn and Sorius?” Ruby quickly passed on the message. The cat stared at her for a moment as she processed the question before moving towards the sound of the crowd.

Gaz and Ruby quickly exchanged gazes and ran after the cat. For a moment Gaz almost forgot about hugger, who was looking around in confusion due to the sudden haste. He gave a quick look towards the robot and made a mention for it to follow. Hugger stared at him for a moment before skittering its way towards them.

Nodding satisfied, Gaz turned back and ran after Ruby and Mirage who were already ahead of him.

Yllivia frowned at the scene in front of her. The corridor she took was way too rough and unprepared compared to the rest of the arena, with some infiltrations and pieces of exposed ground here and there. Not letting this get to her, she shook her head to get her focus back on what mattered.

Taking the still unfamiliar rifle in her hands, she quickly took aim at one of her assailants and shot him. A small grimace appeared in her face as she saw blood spurt out from the guy’s shoulder. She had been aiming for the other one.

She never was much a fan of firearms, preferring to keep things close and personal. The only brief exception were her sub-machine guns, but even then it was mostly because they were for short range and she had been using them for quite some time.

But it wasn’t going to be just because she didn’t like a weapon she would deny its usefulness, so she had been trained into using the weapons.

She still didn’t like them.

Shaking her head to get back her focus, the lynnian threw away the empty magazine as she exchanged it for the one that the man she shot down used. Quickly changing them, she charged forward while looking for the Boss, who had since some time ago gotten out of her sight thanks to the incoming patrol.

Thankfully, there wasn’t much place the guy could run to, as the tunnel, even though it twisted and turned, didn’t seem to branch off into various paths.

Finally, after three minutes of non-stop running, using her trained senses to travel the path in the almost absolute darkness, she finally reached a door that seemed to mark the end of the path. She stopped against it for a moment and focused.

Hearing soft breathings coming from the other side, she took a step back and pointed the weapon to the door before unloading another magazine in a sweeping motion.

Not giving them a chance to recover, the Lynnian burst through the door while throwing the rifle at a nearby wounded guard, shocking the group as a whole. Before they could recover from the shock, Yllivia had already closed in on one of the nearby guards, and with a quick series of punches to the man’s chest and stomach he fell down unconscious.

It took her no more than a few seconds after getting in close range of the men to have all but one knocked down on the ground, the last one trying to squirm free from the tail that held his hands with a scary strength.

“How the hell do you do this?” The guard asked while trying to remove his hand from the crushing pressure of the tail.

“I trained a lot.” Yllivia replied simply while checking the new rifle she just got. After feeling satisfied with its state, she turned back to the guard without releasing his hand. “Where did the boss go to?”

“Why should I tell you?” The guard asked defiantly.

Yllivia’s eye simply twitched for a moment in annoyance, so she lightly flickered her tail. The guard’s eyes widened in shock for a moment before he shouted in pain as his wrist was dislocated. The lynnian’s eyes barely showed any change while watching the scene.

“You see, I’m different from Ruby, who can trick people into talking. Nor Lunn, who can seduce them…” Yllivia said with a sigh as she looked at the guard. “But you see, I do know how to cause pain to the body without damaging it.” She said emotionlessly. “So it may be better for you to talk, you know?”

The guard looked at her in shock for a second, but defiance still flashed in his eyes for a moment. Shaking her head, Yllivia simply approached the guy and poked him around the ribs..

A scream of sheer pain echoed through the room, as pain unlike anything the guard ever felt assaulted his senses. The pain of having his body pierced through, and then being followed by the burning pain of fire.

It was worse than anything he had ever felt before, and that’s saying something when you become a bodyguard that took a few bullets to the body.

It didn’t take much more convincing from the girl to make the man speak.

After hearing the direction the boss went to, Yllivia mercifully knocked the man out with a quick strike before dashing away.

Rifle in hand, she ran through the corridors while taking care not to miss any possible bodyguard that come her way. However, once she reached a crossing, she heard a voice.

“Hey! If it isn’t miss martial artist!”

With trained movements, Yllivia stopped her charge and took aim with the rifle, targeting the body, and not the head, as it was an easier target.

“Woah! Calm down! We are just simple announcers!” The man said while raising his hand.

“Well, not really simple announcers to tell the truth…” The female announcer said distractedly, making Yllivia frown for a moment while raising her eyebrow while making sure to not lose her aim.

“Hey! You aren’t supposed to say that!” The man scolded. “Now she will doubt us!”

“Whoops!” The girl said shocked. “Sorry… Forget what I just said!” She said hurriedly.

“There, much better.” The male announcer said with a satisfied nod.

“Who are you two?” Yllivia asked doubtful.

“Didn’t we just say?” The man said with a proud expression. “We are just simple announcers.”

“At least for now.” The girl added.

“What did I just talk to you about?” The man sighed loudly while face-palming.

“Whoops!” She said embarrassed.

Yllivia frowned as she stared the odd duo. These two announcers were hiding something.

And they were horrible at it.
